The answer to the suds problem is to (i) pre-spray the floor with a lows-suds cleaner, (ii) leave for a few minutes dwell-time while you're setting up the machine and filling the water tank with water only then (iii) use the machine to scrub the floor and suck up the dirt-laden solution.
