    I love how you incorporate the loops in a jar system! I may have to borrow that one from you, love it!❤

      It has been fun! My boy always tries to do his loop stuff first, maybe I’ll just put everything into jars and call it good 🤣

    I absolutely love your curriculum picks!! I'm glad to hear that you are continuing with MCT, I was hesitant to start because there isn't a lot of reviews for higher levels of MCT on RUclips so I was wondering whether people are continuing on to higher levels or not! I'm actually super excited to use their Poetry book - Music of the hemispheres! Thanks for sharing these! Super helpful 😊

      Thank you! I know, I had those same thoughts about MCT. The company really doesn’t seem super homeschool-friendly, so maybe that’s why it’s not talked about as much? I plan to continue sharing as we use it though.

    I am watching this at 9:40 pm my time and I heard the rooster.... and stopped dead in fright that mine was malfunctioning or something wasn't right in the coop 😂😂 lots of half-second thoughts in my head until you made the comment that the rooster was yours 🤣 This looks like such a great line up for you guys for next year! When you were mentioning Music of the Hemispheres it was like hearing my own thoughts- I've definitely pushed the poetry component of MCT to the back end and I think my soon to be fourth grader would enjoy it. We might roll it into our summer plans as something light and slow and see how it goes. I love the miscellaneous loop activities!

      Summer sounds like a nice time to do poetics actually, good idea!

    Please advise how many hours per day would a kindergarten and 4th grade student do per day, with no subjects combined. Thanks

    • @RegularSecularMama
      @RegularSecularMama  Год назад

      Oh my, that’s a tough one to answer. I know it’s not what anyone wants to hear, but it truly depends so much on each individual child, family, curriculum, learning style, etc. One kiddo could finish the few subjects they are assigned in an hour while another dives deep and spends hours exploring interests. I’m sorry I can’t give a straight answer, there really isn’t one that is one-size-fits-all 🤗

    What about doing an artist study to go along with history and study his/her type of art? Also maybe even studying art depicting events from history and discussing composition color choices etc and have the kids create their own? We tend to do more art than science experiments so I’m trying to find a balance. I’m hoping to do both art study and composer study next year ( as a loop)

      I guess we kind of do that already. For example, we took a pretty close look at the painting Crossing the Delaware when we covered that in history. Great ideas 👌🏻

    I have a 7th and 4th grader this coming school year, so your videos are quite helpful for me! I just watched a few of them. Thanks for the youtube art link (I think it was an earlier video of yours, not this one). I'm going to try to do some art with my art hesitant 4th grader this year.

      I have, actually! I used IEW’s Student Writing Intensive (which was the previous version of their new Structure and Style for Students) with my daughter one year and then taught self-made IEW lessons the following year.
      Are you interested in hearing more about IEW? It’s on my list of video ideas, but I try to prioritize based on viewer interest 😉

      @Regular Secular Mama @Regular Secular Mama yes pls, would love it...compared with the Thompson' one....which caught my attention ...looking for an ela program my soon 4th grader...not worries much about math n science, he loves it...but ela not much...so wanna be sure which to choose, because some of them like el are a little expensive and english is not my 1st language either.
      Brw already ordered the 3rd grade map book (thanks), was thinking 180 days around the world....also the cute traquing book journal n put in my cart the 4th grade notebook....really likes how calm n simple you make all this looks 👍 😊

    How long is the poetry portion of MCT, out of curiosity? We are doing in depth poetry Fridays for ELA to make Fridays a lighter load, but I only have 12 weeks. I am debating the MCT.

    • @RegularSecularMama
      @RegularSecularMama  2 года назад +1

      There are six chapters plus one section at the end that looks like review. The way MCT is meant to be used, I am betting 12 weeks would be enough time for it. I’ll, of course, update after we have used it to give my thoughts. 😊

    Wait, Spelling You See level 1 isn't meant for 1st graders?

    • @RegularSecularMama
      @RegularSecularMama  2 года назад

      Do you mean All About Spelling level 1? It is a mastery program, so it all depends on the child’s level. I waited until my son was fluently reading to start. I have no experience with Spelling You See.

    • @denisejohnson4037
      @denisejohnson4037 2 года назад

      @@RegularSecularMama Sorry lol, yes all about spelling. Is level 1 meant for 1st graders or any age?

    • @RegularSecularMama
      @RegularSecularMama  2 года назад

      Like I said, it really depends on their reading level. I think 1st grade might be just a little young, but my kids were all over the place (daughter was reading fluently by mid-kindergarten, while my son just got to that point now by the end of 3rd grade).
