Hi mate, no I did not pay council tax. Because during placement year you are still technically classed as a student. All I had to do was get a letter from my university and send it to the council. I hope that helps :)
Thanks a lot Jacob! Also, I’m possibly about to move to canary wharf for my placement and I’ve heard people say it can be quite dull to live in. What are your thoughts as someone who lived there(if I remember correctly) :)
@@bruh8381 so I lived directly opposite Canary Wharf in Canada Water and often went over to Canary Wharf because there was lots to do during weekdays. For example plenty of restaurants and bars open however the weekends are a bit quiet and also it’s quite expensive to live in Canary Wharf on a placement year salary (but transport links v v good). If you’re looking for somewhere busy on weekends Clapham is the place to be
In my opinion the best route would be to go into audit as you can gain your accounting qualifications which makes you more employable to an investment bank :)
Thanks for the comment. All these are averages across investment banks in the UK. As I’m sure you know there’s a discrepancy between investment banks (e.g., Bank of America pay a lot more than others). Would love to hear your take on the different salaries at the firm you work at :)
Thanks for the informative video! Great structure and you do a good job explaining things in an approachable way
I appreciate the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the video!!!
Damnn definitely an appropriate salary for that work! Annoying how doctors get told being paid £15 an hour as a newly qualified doctor is too much🙃
That’s a very good point. Side note, doctors also need to study a lot longer than it would take to be an investment banker

lol, ‘demistifying’. It’s one of the few industries that more or less publishes the comp bands for the first 3-5 years.
Hi Jacob, just wondering if you paid council tax whilst on placement? Thanks
