She lived in Norfolk for 40 years and it just got worse and worse, I know exactly where these places you are showing are. Norfolk, Portsmouth and sadly now Chesapeake is starting to look like this. I lived in Norfolk when I was in the Navy. Merrimack Landing apartments. I liked Norfolk a lot. No good seafood, but it was cool. We had a beach right down the road where I could go do laundry at soaps n suds and next door to that I could drink a beer on the beach at greenies while my laundry was washing. Norfolk was cool

really? it must have really gone downhill...it was fine in '89/'90 except maybe an occasional drunk sailor brawl I would imagine. You could go anywhere, anytime. Now, for example, Oakland, CA....it was decidedly worse, but if you went during the day, you could literally go anywhere via BART and the bus. I must've went down every street in that city, once to the movie theater in the hood where people had 6 foot chain link fences in '90 (!!!) That blew my mind, I'd never seen that before and had to wonder what possible threat would cause every homeowner to have one. Needless to say, didn't get off the bus there, or come back....

I stayed out Berkley for a couple of years and it was ruff. It was cool because I knew a few people out there. I also stayed in Huntersville and Oceanview and those two are not that bad.
i drive the 20/6 short and long runs to ches. i took care of people in bad weather, occasionally took someone home that just got out of jail and didn't have much, even had a nice lady with a bunch of kids, called me Mr Rogers (usually i was the only white person all night).

Lets talk about the best areas in Norfolk which is Ghent, Botanical Gardens area (the other side of Norview by the Airport), Wards Corner Area some parts of Little Creek, Ocean View and the Norfolk side of Wesleyan.

ODU area is being cleaned up also. The leaders of Norfolk saw they were headed to be another Detroit if they didn't get their act together because middle and upper class residents were leaving for Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Norfolk with be left with just a bunch of poor people and no tax base.... Like Detroit was. Living in Virginia Beach, I recognized Sewells Point Road, Tidewater Gardens, and the Shop N Go at Virginia Beach & Church. I've shopped in there, and it's safe. Crime-wise, Huntersville is arguably Norfolk's worst. If you want hood, you need to go south of the Elizabeth River. Nothing in Norfolk is tragically bad. Hampton Roads' worst is the East End of Newport News.

He did ride through some public housing area's but driving during a cold season In the rain will not show the impact. You must drive either on the weekend and In the early evening on a hot summer days, If you really want to show the blight.

If you stay on Granby St towards NSU and ODU you start to see it change more...if you ain’t grow up here or nowhere even close please save your comments because you don’t know what you’re saying...looks can be very deceiving..stay there for a bit you’ll understand what I mean..the news here is depressing af always about robbery’s, shootings, stabbings, everything..always something..I moved out west and the hoods out west are even more difficult to notice but they’re very dangerous just as Norfolk and NPN, Portsmouth..all these places you definitely don’t want to be out after dark or even during the day without a gun on you
OBX Scotty born in Norfolk and been all throughout p town here. I was actually staying out Youngs park (in the video) when he rode through. It's no where near as bad as it was in the 90's, man. As long as you mind your business, working, and keeping your nose clean nobody will mess with you. The police are the biggest worry because them niggas be trippin for no reason
OBX Scotty yes you’re right, my grandma lived off tidewater, we went through some nasty areas to get there, I remember watching people breaking into the shipping companies almost nightly running down the train tracks, my dad carried several guns and had several within arms reach plus surveillance, it’s very sketchy. You talking about brambleton? That's been cleaned up. Quiet, New single family homes with a walking path and benches with a man made lake. Ain't no BS over there anymore. ODU area is being cleaned up also. The leaders of Norfolk saw they were headed to be another Detroit if they didn't get their act together because middle and upper class residents were leaving for Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Norfolk with be left with just a bunch of poor people and no tax base.... Like Detroit was. So now Norfolk is on the road to tearing down projects and getting rundown and low income residential structures off of prime real estate.

Living in Virginia Beach, I recognized Sewells Point Road, Tidewater Gardens, and the Shop N Go at Virginia Beach & Church. I've shopped in there, and it's safe.
Crime-wise, Huntersville is arguably Norfolk's worst. If you want hood, you need to go south of the Elizabeth River.
Nothing in Norfolk is tragically bad. Hampton Roads' worst is the East End of Newport News.

I still feel safe and people seem nice . I used to deliver a lot in Baltimore and that is a completely different breed than Norfolk I actually don’t feel safe there

Lived in Norfolk, VA for 22 yrs,raised my daughters there.Don't recognized the neighborhoods being driven thru.We lived on South Military Hwy.
Not to say there weren't bad areas but we liked where we lived Haven't been there tho since 2002,live in Florida now.
Even though they're some bad neighborhoods in Norfolk, this guy didn't drive through none of them. He did ride through some public housing area's but driving during a cold season In the rain will not show the impact. You must drive either on the weekend and In the early evening on a hot summer days, If you really want to show the blight.
That area went real bad after they tore down Lakeland Apartments. I lived on Skrand Skreet. Mad ghetto in the late 80's early 90's. Especially for a Filipino kid.

I graduated from Maury back in the 80's and lived in Kingston, Park Place, Oak Leaf Park, Tidewater Park, just about all over Norfolk.
Now, you want to see some fuck places to live, go visit Baltimore, Maryland or St. Albans Queens.

What’s really crazy is you can be in a nice neighborhood but right across the street there can be a not so nice neighborhood that’s just how Norfolk works. They mix us all together and hope for the best I guess lol I would rather them do that then segregate people based on their income I don’t think that’s fair and it causes more crime and problems everyone deserves a nice place to live in Norfolk isn’t so bad.
