Carnival of Venice: Del Staigers, arr. Arthur Frackenpohl
In January 2012, Canadian Brass made its premiere performance at the prestigious (le) Poisson Rouge in New York City. Heralding the new best-selling CD "Takes Flight", Canadian Brass played the repertoire that made its name a worldwide success.
Ok so yesterday in jazz band my director gave me shit for holding my trumpet on a slight slant. He said it "messed with our esthétique" he said that the Canadian brass quintet would never do something like that. I am going to send him this video and point out the lead trumpet who is clearly not holding his trumpet perfectly straight.
Haha sorry for the rant.
I always have a slant
They are so young and so good
Lane Myers except for Charles Dallenbach, who is very old
The high note the trumpet makes sounds so sweet. Mark of a good player.
The late Maurice Andre is the ONLY trumpet player who could make this difficult piece sound almost leisurely and unhurried, at least among the ones I've heard.
You should have a listen to Mynton Marsalis' rendition. He does a masterful job with this piece.
Listen to the great dane Knud Hovaldt, he does it very good in his style
That's one of the craziest solos I've heard and I never get tired of hearing it. From 3:09 to the end just makes you wanna go to the woodshed smh. And I'm a wind.
This is really Awesome| I love this song.
i thought for sure he was going to turn the trumpet upside down. XD guess not. but still an incredible piece mastered by these guys. this is fantastic. :')
I believe Allen Vizzutti does that when he plays this
Fabulous
GREAT Brandon!
Spectacular!
Congratulation, fantastic!
추억의곡을 들으니 감동적입니다.
Fernado Alonso in the back certainly gets around.
*cries because i'll never be that good*
fantastic! :D
Top TopTop what good !!!
Il trombettista è fantastico.
1.25x sounds still do-able... 1.5x is insane... 2.0x is unholy amounts of speed
Recknoknight nn
шикардос!
Fantasic....😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
As a former trumpet player my lips are paralyzed with terror after this performance!
Listen to a recording of Raefel Mendez doing this and especially Moto Perpetuo by Pagganini
wow
Well that escalated quickly...
I love Eric's toe wiggling at 3:26! Their expressions and reactions throughout are priceless ;)
3:30 though XD
Someone should get that poor tuba player a chair or a sousaphone.
He can handle it.
Are you stupid? Must be new to the professional tuba scene. For one, every player plays with their tuba standing up at one point or another. Secondly, that tuba he is playing is specially designed to be ultra lightweight if I'm not mistaken. Thirdly, it's Charles Dallenbach, a tuba legend, so he does as he please.
+ScAr Clan I've seen him with one with a carbon fiber bell, if that's the one you're talking about, which he isn't using here. Gigs like this are probably what made him want his special lighter one.
Perfectly said!
sousaphones gives a horrible sound for this kind of act
this is not a marching band
LA TROMBA E' PARECCHIO CALANTE SPECIALMENTE NELLE NOTE ACUTE
:O !
Chuck, the only remaining TRUE CANADIAN BRASS member.........still; the new "kids" aren't too bad, right?
Im 1,000 like. But nobody actually cares
The only thing I really can't help but notice (and that it's really obvious) is that he "puffs" his cheeks. I thought "puffing" our cheeks was bad? My instructor told me never to [puff] and I don't. What's so bad about "puffing" anyway?
If someone can play like him,i think
there is no problem in puffing his cheeks :P
that's circular breathing
The only thing is, why would he need to circular breath when there are very obvious and easy spots to breath normally? I believe he just has a few notes he puffs his cheeks on that is something he has been doing for a long time that helps him get his tone/tuning on that note. Some people just have those little stigmas. There is no plausible reason for him to be using circular breathing here are there are plenty of gaps for him to breath normally. You would normally use circular breathing on a longer passage that has no down time.
you're instructed not to puff because it pulls your lips and makes it very hard to form an embouchure. But, as my director told me, and others who used the arguements involving puffed players (gillespie most notably) when you can play that good, you play however it works best for you
one name, Dizzy Gillespie, (please forgive the spelling)
I'll admit that it sounds beautiful, but this hardly sounds like Carnival of Venice. I feel like this arrangement deviates too much from the original piece.
Yeah, it almost sounds like an amalgamation of the original and Steve Sykes’ Carnival Cocktail.
