Wow, this looks like a great ham radio! I'm impressed by the features and design of the TH-D75. You did a good job explaining its advantages and drawbacks. Thanks for sharing this informative video. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these radios! 👍
i just bought myself a wouxen KG-Q336 4m/2m/70 cm handy (from moonracker). it's amazing so far. lovely display. battery hasn't dropped a bar on standby for several hours. i wonder if there will be announcements on this radio as I found out about it by accident and there's nothing online about it yet apart from on the wouxen site.
the new kenwwood handy does look good. the more i learnt about the predecessor the more impressed I am with the HT. you can use the APRS functionality in the radio using an app on a PC. amazing bit of kit.
Nice to see Kenwood bring out a new radio but love see Kenwood bring out a replacement for the TS2000 with a waterfall and that lovely Kenwood classic styling.
Good video and I think your thoughts are probably pretty accurate. Not looking forward to the value of my D74 going down but it was inevitable. I really hope the D75 is duplex for satellites and ISS. I would like to see Sky Command back so I can use it on my other Kenwood rigs but I don't think that's likely.

Great to see this from Kenwood! A tri-band radio with D-STAR. I hope it also has full duplex like the older ones, so I can use it for satellite work, too. But 100% looking forward to this radio, I thought the big 3 had given up on HTs!
I wouldn’t hold your breath for full duplex. The D74 didn’t and I somewhat doubt the D75 will either. I’m not sure it can be said that Icom or Yaesu have ever given up on HTs. I’d argue that Yaesu have too many!

@@M0JSX I wouldn't hold out for duplex either, though no other radio currently has it as an HT. It sure would be nice. While Yaesu and Icon still make new ones, they lack many features that even older HTs had. It's something I don't understand as a newer operator. Lacking tri-band support on most of their lineup when they previously had quad-band and other great features makes all but the VX-7R unappealing to me. I had all but given up on digital since there were no tri-band D-Star or Fusion HTs!
all those understanding the importance of cross band full duplex be aware of the statement by representative of yaesu usa, mr john crook who said a diplexer can not fit into an ht
@@M0JSX it wouldn do any good, paid apologists are paid to lie. yaesu had cross band full duples in ft470, ft 530 and ft51, icom had it in w32 etc etc. now in the digital garbage clown world it's a lost feature.
Didn't see that one coming, well done Kenwood, I've a 74d doubtful that I'll update yet, wonder if Yaesu will suprise us all with a replacement for the ft-818.
But surely "Kenwood are not interested in the ham radio market" according to all the "experts" on line. Oh......hang on. Well done Kenwood - as usual. 😀
From memory the D74 was around £570 new so yes you should expect the new radio to be in a similar price bracket. its a surprise I must say! i never expected this from Kenwood. hopefully it will also drive down the prices of the D74 which are still selling for as much as £450 ridiculous!

I really want to see a matrix comparison between the 74 and 75.
I hope they fixed the poor battery time of the D74.🍻👍

I’ll do some research on it.

So disapointed the Th D75A does not have full duplex.
I'm sure this thing will cost an arm and a leg but it's really exciting that they're back in the HT game. More competition is always a good thing!

@@paulmitchell4421 shall we point him to the TH-D72? And for that matter the Wouxun KG-8 did cross band repeat?

We'll all know tomorrow!
@Jonathan M0JSX ugggh. That's sooo long to wait.
So will it do 2 meter ssb Transmit? 73 de KD5FMU
If only. I meant to say SSB RX on 2/70

I think it’s fair to say that ham radio is not Kenwood’s main market, but nice to see them still developing kit for hams!
I may just buy one
I would love to see more modern Kenwood base stations around the £1200 mark to increase competition in this segment. 73 2E0LUP

I’ve seen used D74s sell for much more than £450!
Bar antenna for Lw mw?
Probably. One of those things we will find out in due course.
I thought kenwood had stopped making radio bet its pricey
