    The IBIS helps a lot in more modern Panasonic M4/3 cameras and in Olympus cameras when shooting in low light

      Absolutely agree. I recently picked up the Olympus em10 mkii and the ibis in that is great 👍

    I am a M 4/3 user myself for street photography and by the photos I've saw from this video even from a camera from 2011 the pictures are quite nice indeed.

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  2 года назад +2

      They weren't bad to use for social media but up close they're a bit rough at 800iso. I expect more modern M4/3 cameras will do better especially with a native fast prime. Thanks for watching 🖖

    I had the GF-1 for a while with the extra viewfinder add-on. Fun little camera and I have taken some decent pics with some vintage lenses.

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  2 года назад +1

      In decent light it's a great set up, but as soon as I started pushing that iso, even f1.8 wasn't enough. I love my vintage lenses, but most of them are f2.8 or slower so not really usable on the GF2 at night unless you're on a tripod or are fine with high levels of noise. Thanks for watching mate 🖖

      Being a Sony user it was a bit of a shock to the system not having such flexibility with the iso, but it was a fun shoot. Thanks for watching 🖖

    I'm a bit behind on my viewing again David!!! It's amazing how fast the sensor technology moved forward - my beloved GX80s must have been released in about 2015 or 2016 which isn't so much newer than your GF2 but they can easily go up to 2000iso or so without too much devastation - sure they're not up to my even older Nikon full frames, but they're not too bad. Not that you can tell much on RUclips anyway - you could probably shoot at 3600 through a bit of loo paper and not notice the difference once it's been through the compression!!! Loving all those night time shots, noise or no noise.

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  2 года назад +1

      Cheers, Tim. I'm playing catch up too. At 800 iso they looked way worse than the a6000 at 1600, but I've been spoilt by the a7s so most cameras look noisy by comparison lol
      I do enjoy shooting at night though and I was quite surprised by a couple of the images, though I think I'll be sticking to my full frame for night shooting unless I bring a tripod along🖖😁

    • @GrumpyTim
      @GrumpyTim 2 года назад +1

      @@DavidFlowerOfficial That's a very good point, once you've had better, and your a7s are definitely better, it's kind of hard to go backwards. Most of my outdoor night time photography has been on a tripod - I love using tripods, I tend to frame up better and think about my shot more. But I did spend several years shooting in theatres and that was always very low light and completely hand held, and done with my full frame Nikon.

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  2 года назад +1

      Yeah my first decade of photography was landscapes and tripods, these days I'm loving hand held shooting mainly because after years of lugging all that gear around I want to be lazy and lightweight

    Great video friend, I recently bought the lumix gf5 and I notice that the highlights are easily overexposed, any advice you can give me?

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  Год назад +1

      I almost always shoot in manual mode so I dial in the exposure almost every picture, but for those times I shoot in Aperture or Shutter priority I have the exposure compensation set to -1/3 or -2/3 and meter from a bright part of the scene 👍

    Amazing clouds that evening, shame you weren't out doing some landscape photography! I don't know anything about the micro 4/3 system but looks like you were trying to keep your ISO low as possible to avoid grain but couldn't get quite a fast enough shutter speed to get super sharp images in the photos with moving objects. Maybe I'm off base on that comment? Having said that, it was a lot better than I expected from 10+ year old technology and a vintage lens! I really liked the Today's Express shot! Nice work as always mate. Hope you are well!

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  2 года назад

      Yeah it's a trade off with an older M4/3 camera. They start to look quite nasty at 800iso and higher (I noticed the same thing with the Olympus I had) so even at f1.8 (which is pretty soft on that lens anyway) I was down at 1/60sec for most of the shots and still a bit under exposed in some cases. It was a fun experiment, but not one I'd care to repeat when I have Sony bodies in my kit that produce far cleaner images even at 6400iso😂
      Thanks for watching, Paul. Take care mate🖖

  • @zuln5637
    @zuln5637 Год назад +1

    If I just use the kitlens , what setting i should use to take low light photo

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  Год назад

      Since most kit lenses have a fairly slow aperture (f3.5-5.6) you either need to use higher iso or slower shutter speed to make up for this which will result in increased noise in your images or the need to use a tripod.
      It’s hard to say exactly what your settings would need to be since they change from shot to shot based on what you’re trying to capture.

      @@DavidFlowerOfficial would you recommend it for filming and pictures?

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  2 года назад +1

      If 1080p is enough for what you want to do it's fine, but the a6300 is a huge step up that gives you 4k and S-log etc picture profiles and a much better af system. I guess it really comes down to what you want to do and your budget. If you can stretch to the a6300, I'd recommend that over the a6000 for both pictures and videos

      @@DavidFlowerOfficial thanks so much ! what’s your thoughts on the 64000?

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  2 года назад

      I've not used the 6400 but my understanding from some of the things I've seen and read point to it not being too much different to the 6300. Seems to me that after the 6300 it was incremental upgrades with the exception of ibis in the 6500 and 6600
