I have a pair of Helm Holis in black and it took about a month to break in since it was so stiff out of the box. The insole are not comfortable at all and my feet are in pain by the end of the day. I tried liking these boots but I just can't wear them anymore. So I bought a pair of Thursday Captains boots and they were easy to break in and the insoles molded to my feet. I'll try again with Helm but the Thursday boots is where it's at for me.
The leather Helm uses is between 3 companies currently I believe, Horween, Krumenauer, & Bermudez Leather. I believe the zind in particular in this review is called Babbo by Krumenauer. I currently have Helm boots in both the Horween CXL & the Balthazar leather from Bermudez leather and I like them both very much. I'd be curious to see how the Krumenauer stacks up to the rest though!
I really like my Helm's a lot. Fit good right out of the box. I own a pair of the Whalen in Rusan Suede. That's their Chukka boot. Because a man can never have enough Chukkas in his collection. I did enter everything as well..Thanks for the good video as always..

Off topic: From the discussion of Nick’s boots on the last episode, the takeaway I got was that Nick’s boots are difficult and time consuming (and painful) to break in. This has taken quite a bit of enthusiasm out of my desire to order a pair. Thanks for being frank about the process.
@@stevenroche9874 Especially since I’m 65. I just ordered a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers which are inbound. Given my age the boots should outlast me. I got them to ride my motorcycles and also, once they’re thoroughly broken in, to do a bit of hunting in.
Don't feel bad, William. In summer, I wear very breathable fabric upper athletic shoes. I save my boots for cooler times of year. I live in Colorado Springs with four distinct seasons.
I have a pair of Helm’s Pablo boots, in black. It’s their version of a chelsea boot, with a medial zipper instead of the elastic side panels. I like them, although some stitching came loose fairly quickly around the medial zipper. Possible QC issue there,. Still, I’m down to try another style of boots of theirs, so I entered the giveaway! It’ll be a cold day in hell before I download Instagram, though, so I may not have enough entries to win. We shall see!

The zind is Blake stitched not GYW. my issue with this brand is their pricing, especially compared to a tried and true brand like Thursday who is super transparent about their manufacturing and sourcing and keeps their costs significantly lower than Helm. I've heard about a lot of QC issues with Helm as well. Not to say Thursday doesn't have QC issues but it seems to be far less common especially considering how much more volume they sell. I don't see Helm succeeding in the long run unless they can start pricing competitively.
You can usually find a discount. I think I paid $250-260 for my Zind and definitely better boot than my Thursday Captain. Helm also do a really good shipping price to Australia so they were virtually the same price for me.

Yo, I've been eyeing those Chisos boots and _nearly_ got them, but I didn't. I think I will probably get them before the year is up, but may still be a few months. I ended up getting some roughout Tecovas boots instead (in addition to the full grain Tecovas i already have). But I love the design on the Chisos. So cool. They seem like great boots and I've heard nothing but good things about them. A review is coming, but it may be a few months. But those are my current thoughts on the Chisos No. 1 -- they look awesome and I want them.

Thursdays last is too narrow. I can’t believe they recommend 1/2 down on the D width like that’s a normal fit.

I've had 7 boots from Thursday and the sizing is so inconsistent. Never buying again.
My Thursday Cavaliers had a terrible squeaking problem, and I actually threw them out. I like my Diplomats though.

I own The Lou and it's the most comfortable and stylish boot I own. Their other boots/shoes are great. Awesome under appreciated company.
Agreed on comfort and quality. My Hollis were comfortable from day one. Also in olive.
I like how it’s a half leather, half rubber sole. I don’t see that often on boots. Definitely more comfortable

They stock softer leathers now (the 1964 line and any CXL). I ordered work leather only because I know I will have them forever, so I don't mind.
Life's too short to wear heavy, cumbersome boots, especially if you walk a lot like I do. Light, comfortable, and cushioned is the way to go.
