Connor. Dood. Yes. Great story, I laughed really hard at all your witty little edits, I saw those. Clean cuts and love the sound work too, the underwater-y stuff and the big speakers, ooooo. It was super cool getting to see more of you guys, keep doin' your thing bro!
Just came across your videos because I was searching up different cinematic vlogs and yours popped up as well. Checked it out and you’re pretty good. Subbed!
Aye man. lovely video. I am looking at getting a a7ii (coming from an 80d) and just genuinely curious on the iso and autofocus performance. I hear those are the biggest complaints with it but the deals are so good to get started with Full frame Sonys rn. Any info would be great!
I would just stick to your 80D. I don't see a big enough reason to switch. They were similarly priced cameras from nearly the same release year. The high video ISO is okay, I don't know well it compares to your 80D. I don't the to much issue with it. The photography AF is definitely good! They have really fixed that up. Coming from your Canon though, the video AF will be noticeably bad. Full frame is great, don't get me wrong... But it's only really necessary if you need the change in DoF. The major improvements you'll see if you upgrade to the Sony won't be lowlight from the larger sensor. It'll be the IBIS and the ability to shoot slog.
@@ConnerGetchell fair. Im just looking for full frame low light performance and autofocus since I genuinely use a flycam while I shoot. But I appreciate the response. ill just save up and get a mark iii.
@@CarlosAguilarHN Sorry I am just seeing this... Yeah so I do overexpose my slog, but not ALWAYS 2 stop. So the idea of exposing is because 1600 ISO (the required ISO) is kinda noisey. To avoid that noise, you avoid the "noise" floor which first appears in the darks of the image. If you expose bright, and then grade the footage to a normal black point, you avoid that noise floor. So when I am shooting, I shoot with zebras, see what I can expose without clipping highlight information, and boom there is my expose. Sometimes that 3+ stops, or sometimes that's 0+ stops. I would say in general, anywhere from 1-2+ stops is a good place to be.
Hey! A gear-question here. How many batteries do u usually use when u video? I also shoot on sony a7ii and the battery is getting dead so quickly. What are your tricks&tips, beside wifi turned off, to make its life longer? Thanks for your answer! PS Who r u to shoot that videos? Really like them. ;)
I only own two batteries. I am extremely careful with them too. Apart from the airplane mode that helps, I keep my EVF in the lower quality mode, my lenses are manual (so they don't require power to run AF motors or the aperture...with the exceptio to this video which was shot on some fairly expensive glass), and I am really really good about turning off my camera every chance I get. The batteries can easily last a full day. I shoot about 60 GB of footage for weddings in a day on two batteries.
@@izusia946 when I bought my Sony second hand 3 years ago, it came with 2 batteries. One was Sony and the other was off brand. I'm not sure of the brand, but I don't recommend it. It definitely dies sooner. To not over expose, I turn use the cameras built in Zebra's function set at "100+" to let me know exactly what details I am losing in the exposure.
Hey, it's kind of misleading. The camera itself does NOT shoot 4k. The shot here is 1080p at 60 FPS. The video is then edited down into the content you are seeing, and upscaled at export wtih Adobe Premiere to be 4k so that RUclips plays the video back at 4k and thus more bitrate.
The lenses I used are shown at the very end of the video. But I was borrowing those. Traditionally I use the Canon FD vintage lenses; 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 200mm 2.8.
Nope, just shot with a 16-35mm G Master. It made framing not really a issue, I just trust it would focus and be wide enough to keep me in the frame without thought. This was my first time I'm happy it worked out and the DoF looks good.
This one was native glass! I got the chance to borrow the 16-35 G Master and 55mm Zeiss. I missed my Canon FD but it was really cool to test really nice lenses out.
@@Dev.WeAreElectric Yeah I use 1600 ISO. Some of the nicer Sony's can go down to 800 ISO when shooting video. Luckily 1600 is not THAT bad because when you are shooting slog, you want to overexpose a little bit to avoid the noise floor. So in reality 1600 ISO may be treated as 800-400 ISO. Little confusing, but hey, it happens in the realm of video lol

Excellent video Conner! Could you share your picture profile of Slog-2?
It's just default PP7 in camera! Nothing special.

how can u shoot a7ii with 4k ?
Upscaling. It doesn't actually shoot 4k. I upscale so it looks better on RUclips.

what fps that you use for this video? 60fps?
60 for all the cinematic, 24 for the vlog
