    Come alone with me on a flight from Nashville to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire at 27,000 feet. I talk about of the features and capabilities of the Garmin Perspective Touch avionics system and some of the features I use.
    Viewers have asked for more videos showing the avionics panels so I hope you like this one.

    AMAZING TECHNOLOGY. Learned to fly and navigate with basic 6 pack years ago. No, not Coors.

      Thank you for watching! Most of us start out on steam gauges and I definitely remember those days. Much respect to those who made careers out of flying that way…. It is sure nice to have advanced avionics and capabilities. Tech is great when you learn how it can be a force multiplier in the air.

    With a fully charged battery, if there is an engine failure at say FL 280, how long will the PFD last on battery power?

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s  Год назад +1

      With an engine failure, you lose the power generation capability and this essentially ties the batteries together an as emergency battery. You probably have about an hour of flight time before complete loss of battery power.

    Off subject but how do you perform a flight control check and verify the elevator function before flight since the pilot has no view. Is there a "control surface monitoring system" or visualization on the SF50? Thanks!

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s  Год назад

      There are two occasions on EVERY flight when flight controls are checked. First is during walkaround and preflight inspection. All primary flight control surfaces are moved and checked for stability, defection and freedom of movement. Flaps are checked for deflection and security as well. The trim tab and balance tab are checked for security as well. The second instance occurs once the pilot is seated in the plane and in accordance to the pre-taxi checklist. The side stick is defected in all directions and then the rudder pedals are deflected as well. The pilot can see the ailerons, but there are also display checks on the center instrument panel to be viewed for flaps position, roll trim setting and pitch trim setting. All verified twice before each flight.

      @@DonAv8s thanks so much for the reply! How do you know that the elevator is moving in coordination with yolk and not reversed for instance. I read about another aircraft that had this issue. Not an SF50.

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s  Год назад +1

      @@JZainbear Look at the tail of a SF50. It does not have a traditional elevator or rudder system. They are combined in function using a mixer assembly. It’s not likely there will be an issue and you would realize it in preflight due to binding or lack of freedom of movement.

      @@DonAv8s That makes sense. Thanks!
