      With you being a student of European royal families, you might possess the answer to a question or be able to direct me to another source. Electress Sophia became the successor to the throne of England due to her descent from King James lV and l of England according to the 1701 Act of Succession. Her being Protestant was an essential part of for her position for the crown. There were 56 persons with a closer claim, but were excluded from succession because they were Catholic, not Protestant. Who were the 56 persons who were excluded from the line of succession?
      Had Electress Sophia lived only a few months longer, she would have been Queen. As it is, it was here son who succeeded to the throne as George l. If you can point me in the direction to identify the 56 persons who were disqualified, I'd be most appreciative. Thank you.

    "'George took back his offer (to Nicholas II) as advised by his government."
    If I remember correctly he was actually frightened into doing it by a courtier named Lord Hardinge, who told him a lie saying Britain would find itself in the throes of a communist revolution if he offered sanctuary to Nicholas II and the Romanov family.

      George especially said he was so close to his cousins and Nikky was his favorite cousin. They actually look like twins. George was unimaginative and worried about his own Throne free he was afraid to behave rise up against him. He could have just said kranski taking out the survey Siberian railroad take me to Vladivostok of worship could have picked them up there and taking them to Canada he could have left them there any could have told the English people that he was torn about the helping his cousins, but when Preston krinsky told him that they needed to get the promenades out of Russia so they can focus on staying in the 48 did it for England. He could have left them in western Canada until the war was over. It might save the world from communism head kerensky's government but able to take hold.....but George V didn't think that hard or care that deeply.
      It is a shame that it wasn't a generation later. George VI was a deep & caring man. He would have sought a solution that was right for his cousins, & right fir England. .. ..& we all might have beenspared the rise of USSR.

    All of the European royal families are related and most were related through Maria Theresa the Empress of Austria and many through Queen Victoria they had numerous children who married into other royal families so they are all interrelated and if you are related to one you are related to them all.

    • @ebitda8611
      @ebitda8611 9 месяцев назад

      Yes. But the crazy thing is they all basically grew up together and especially Wilhelm II and George V, they all had a childhood together and Victoria had a soft spot for Wilhelm. I remember watching a documentary saying they would play soldiers as kids and were bitter to each other. Which their relationship deteriorated once they got older. Ten of millions of people died for that.

    Very good pst, I regret not questioning my first cousin's husband how he was related to the King of England, the Geram Kaiser, and the Russian czar. One connectin, according a remark he made, was through Denmark.At any rate he donated DNA to te projct identifying the executed Czar and his family. BTW, there was no inherited wealth. Most of it was confiscated by the Nazis, the rest by the Soviets.

    have you ever thought to do one on the grandchildren of Wilhem II? I'd love to see a good one of one of the scandian families that isn't of any relation to Queen Victoria. (Sweden? or perhaps The Netherlands. As Norway is related to Victoria, but i'm not sure about Sweden, and 100% sure The Netherland has no attachment to King Christian IX or Queen Victoria)

      @@nathanfleischman9856And since the Danish Royal family has been the same since around year 1000, they are most certainly blood related in some way dating back even further. Danish princesses and princes have wed in to the English family and vice versa for many, many years.

    Reasons why cousins shouldn’t marry cousins, generation after Generation…

    • @zzzbbbooo

      It happened a lot in past times. Many people never travelled more than a mile or two from where they were born so they married and had families with others in the same situation. Royals weren't the only ones who married relatives.

      George V's father (Edward II) and Wilhelm II mother (Victoria, Princess Royal) are siblings. PLUS George V's mother (Alexandra of Denmark) and Nicolas II mother (Dagmar of Denmark) are siblings. This makes George V the first cousin of BOTH Nicolas II and Wilhelm II. Nicolas II and Wilhelm II were not 1st cousins, but cousins nonetheless through Friedrich Wilhelm III : the grandfather to Wilhelm II and great-great grandfather to Nicolas II.
