Thanks bro. Just watched u do d cost analysis now. Again most of are interested in raising up to d 7th and 8th. How can we calculate plz. Then plz help us with their vaccination as well.
Thanks so much for the calculation of feed. I was trying to check the cost for just 100 broilers in 6 weeks using your format but I lost out Can you please help
I used the first feed to kickstart the broilers on a high crude protein, which makes the broilers start well, with weight gain. Would have continued with it to the 6th week, but as a farmer, when I consider the cost of production that will increase, I switched to another starter with an appreciable crude protein, but cheaper (you know broilers gain over 8 times their day old weight within 2 weeks). Finisher feeds has higher calcium, lower crude protein, but maintains the same energy level with starter. So since weight gain is my aim, within 6 weeks, I ignored finisher and maintained the birds on a high protein to the end. For the calcium requirements that the finisher would have provided, I used calcium supplements to achieve it, in their drinking water From the 6th week, broilers enter 80% into maintenance mode, and about 20% growth mode. So best to rush the growth within period that the birds are more in the growth mode.
thanks for the video it was very practical, is there a video on layer feed consumption and if you have the time can you do a video on feed formulation because the largest cost is in feed i think farmers must look for a way to do partnership to produce there feed
Simple steps to follow in the calculation but I have a few questions 1st :Are the quantity of feed daily or weekly ? Per your calculation, it’s look like a weekly dose !!!! 2nd: the bags are sold per whole unit ( bag of 25 kg) so you can’t approximate in decimal but per whole bag per weeks instead of tallying the portioned bags at the end.
1. The feed quantity is weekly. But you can go further to divide each week by 7 (days), to get the days, but in doing that, note that the birds will not be able to finish the daily portion at the beginning of each week, but as the week progress, their appetite increase, so by the end of the week, they'd certainly finish the entire week ration. 2. The approximation is so as not to get you caught off guard... Its like a cushion effect. Better to increase the budget a little, than to be short. Hope you got my point?
@@farmsdiary so am planning to start with 200 birds and I followed up your calculations was happy will inform more on the progress thanks stay blessed 🙏
I'd do a video for medication schedule soon. But note that it varies from one region to another, depending on the endemic issues, stages of growth and farmers strategies.

It depends on the hatchery you have in mind. Currently, all their prices are falling, and it is expected to fall further, because of reduced demand, as many farms have already started raising their Xmas broilers.
It depends on how much you are selling and who you are selling to... But to better understand what i mean better, I'd recommend you watch this video below ruclips.net/video/QuWaQ8hLDqw/видео.html
Generally there are different reasons to selecting breed of broilers to raise, but judging by the current temperature experienced now in north central, including Abuja, COBB 500 is the top on my list, cause they can tolerate higher temperatures than other regular available breeds.
@KateIya-eb8no I don't know the weather of cross rivers, but with good management, all the breeds available in Nigerian hatcheries can be raised there.
What gives more weight in feed is the crude protein it contains. Starters have crude protein between 20-22% depending on the millers specifications While finishers have lower crude protein and more calcium, to give the bones more strength to carry the growing body.
You should expect; Minimum of 186g at the end of week 1. Minimum of 485g at the end of week 2. Minimum of 960g at the end of week 3. Minimum of 1500g at the end of week 4. Minimum of 2100g at the end of week 5. Minimum of 2800g at the end of week 6.
I shared a video on how much it will cost to raise broilers and the first cost considered in the video was the cost of feeding. Where you'd learn how to calculate what each kg costs. So I recommend you check it, use the current price of feed in your location, to calculate for 4.244kg Here's the video link ruclips.net/video/4MhqZIjVr3E/видео.html
Thanks for the education, it really helpful. Is it necessary to feed broilers for 8 weeks? If yes, how do we calculate for the 7th and 8th week feeding? Thank you.
You can feed broilers for 8 weeks, but economically its not wise, cause 80% of the feed from 7-8 weeks goes to maintenance, while 20% goes to growth and weight. But if you have reasons for keeping them that long, the ideal feed ration per bird is 1.593kg for 7th week and 1.691kg for 8th week.
@@farmsdiary I have watch the video more three times today alone, and have not seen where you explain such. Plz sir kindly help me out here, so that I can know what a healthy Broilers should consume from 7 to 8 weeks.
The number was gotten from researches carried out by various professionals all over the world and hatcheries do give figures, if you ask. The feed requirement of a broiler at 7 weeks is 1.593kg and 1.691kg at 8 weeks. Though to maximize profits, raising broilers for 6 weeks is best.
That would have been interesting, but the cost, will compete with my returns at d end of raising and selling the birds. Cause as a farmer, the number one goal is how to make bigger profit, in the shortest possible time, while reducing cost in the process.
@@farmsdiary Sir, I believe it’s garbage in garbage out, is someone can afford to feed them on Super Starter without the 6weeks, don’t you think it will also tell on the profit ?
They'd grow bigger, cause of the high crude protein contained in the feed, but when you consider the growth, and maintenance of broilers within the first 2 weeks, for profit sake, its advisable to reduce cost, by going for the next lower feed that has quality available.
Week 4 - 1.5kg Week 5 - 2.1kg Week 6 - 2.8kg Note that it is dependent on the broiler breed, for instance a Ross breed out performs above expected, but stop adding weight from the 6th week, but Cobb struggles to meet the weekly expected weight target, but picks up from week 6-8 Another factor to consider is quality feed...
Kindly follow the video and do the calculations. 3,000 is quite large and the profit margin will be mouth watery, cause poultry is a game of numbers... The more you invest, the more you get within the said time period.
Now I get lol... Well, it depends... Over here, 1kg dressed weight is #2,100 naira. Live weight is cheaper, though depends on your location, who the customer is, your negotiations power and farmers union agreement.
Yea they will have an average of 3.1kg I even currently have 3 weeks broilers weighing an average of 1022g (1.02kg) and I believe this set will exceed 3.1kg by the 42nd day.
It depends... Prices are not constant. Increases with increase in demand especially towards festivities and other logistics factors from the hatchery and reduces when demand goes down. Prices are also influenced from the hatchery the chicks are coming from, but in this video, the broilers we were expecting, came from sayeed hatchery (Ross 308 breed)
Since my plan was to raise them for just 6 weeks, to achieve average weight of 3.2kg, yes I used only started feed, but introduced calcium supplement immediately the birds attained 1.9kg (that is, weight in which I was normally supposed to switch their feed to finisher).
@@farmsdiary Alright, but I thought that it's the finisher that make them gain more weight. That's why they start giving them finisher from the fourth week?
The starter feed makes the chicken gain more muscle mass, which translates to more weight, because of its high level of crude protein, compared to finisher... The finisher feed is normally introduced when the chicken clock 1.9kg and then continued to the last day, to reduce cost of production and for stronger bones, cause of its calcium level. But if you want to raise them for 6 weeks, to attain the market weight weight, save time and in the cumulative run, save cost (cause the shorter the raising time, to more the profit), starter can be used all through.
I can tell you the house size that 1000 broilers need, but I can't tell you the current cost, cause theirs no stable prices in naija market, these days.
@KateIya-eb8no yea, Approximately 10 bags and food will be available to the birds, at all times, for 6 weeks consumption. Kindly go through the video to learn how we arrived at that number of bags and also use google to check the weekly ration requirements as well.
Hatcheries normally release new price every Tuesdays and Fridays. Last I heard of Agrited price, it fell from ₦710 (Friday last week) to ₦650 (this Tuesday). Their new price tomorrow, Friday, might be lower, I guess
New hope extra super starter has more crude protein than top feed super starter, so I used it to kick start the birds better performance (the first 2 weeks). Plus New hope is more expensive, so I switched to reduce cost, after kick starting the birds well on a higher crude protein.
Kehinde thanks for pulling my attention to the word PROCESSED. Apologies Oluwatobi, when you process a broiler, remove the intestine, feathers, stomachs, legs, you lose few grams, which might range from 500-700grams from the live weight.
@KateIya-eb8no yea, Approximately 10 bags and food will be available to the birds, at all times, for 6 weeks consumption. Kindly go through the video to learn how we arrived at that number of bags and also use google to check the weekly ration requirements as well.
That's how long we raise our broilers and sell. For clarity, this is what our broilers look like on the 42nd day ruclips.net/video/Gg0DNE0XGLg/видео.html
I use a times, but it depends on my aim of that production circle and when I use starter for 6 weeks, its just all about the crude protein level, which most finishers don't offer.
Yeah... Broilers have a very short time to stay, as such should only eat, drink, rest and continue the circle. Kindly watch this video below, to see our broiler night routine ruclips.net/video/6jINHt0kMEc/видео.html

How can I get my broiler a day chicken
From any reputable hatchery near you...
Please sir how many bags of food can i buy for 50 broilers from day 1 to final week of marketing please reply is urgent
9.6 bags
To learn how the number of bags were derived, patiently watch the video
@@farmsdiary which is 10 bags approximately
@KateIya-eb8no yea,
Approximately 10 bags and food will be available to the birds, at all times, for 6 weeks consumption.
Kindly go through the video to learn how we arrived at that number of bags and also use google to check the weekly ration requirements as well.
Pls how much is agrited broiler doc?
Hatcheries normally release new price every Tuesdays and Fridays.
Last I heard of Agrited price, it fell from ₦710 (Friday last week) to ₦650 (this Tuesday).
Their new price tomorrow, Friday, might be lower, I guess
You didn't use finisher feed?
Why did you change your feeds from New Hope to Top Feed
New hope extra super starter has more crude protein than top feed super starter, so I used it to kick start the birds better performance (the first 2 weeks).
Plus New hope is more expensive, so I switched to reduce cost, after kick starting the birds well on a higher crude protein.
Please, how many broilers can I rear with a steady budget of 30k monthly?
Do your own calculations!
Or you still want to be spoon 🥄 fed again?
Please what's your target processed weight when your total feed per bird is 4.786 kg/ bx ?
3kg and above
@@farmsdiary processed weight can’t be unto that. Kindly check the question again.
Meanwhile from your calculations, each bird consumed about 5.3kg
Kehinde thanks for pulling my attention to the word PROCESSED.
Apologies Oluwatobi, when you process a broiler, remove the intestine, feathers, stomachs, legs, you lose few grams, which might range from 500-700grams from the live weight.
From day one
Yeah, from day 1
Nice
Glad you enjoyed the video
Plse can you do the same for pullets up to 20 weeks? Thank you
Yes, would do that soon
Pls how many kg should I feed 50 birds,3 week old n how many times a day
Please reply I want to know too
50 broilers will eat 9.6 bags of feed, from day 1-42 and feed should be available and accessible to them at all times
@@farmsdiary I don't understand the ratio, please is it 10 bags approximately
@KateIya-eb8no yea,
Approximately 10 bags and food will be available to the birds, at all times, for 6 weeks consumption.

@@farmsdiary thank you so much
How can a 6 week broiler sell
That's how long we raise our broilers and sell.
For clarity, this is what our broilers look like on the 42nd day
ruclips.net/video/Gg0DNE0XGLg/видео.html
U don't use finisher?
I use a times, but it depends on my aim of that production circle and when I use starter for 6 weeks, its just all about the crude protein level, which most finishers don't offer.
Pls do you have a WhatsApp group? I'd like to know more about poultry farming as a new farmer in the business. Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion.
Will do that in no distant time..
@@farmsdiary that would be great sir.
Do we feed birds at night?
Yeah...
Broilers have a very short time to stay, as such should only eat, drink, rest and continue the circle.
Kindly watch this video below, to see our broiler night routine
ruclips.net/video/6jINHt0kMEc/видео.html
Please can you do likewise on bro layers thank you
No problem sir...
Will do that once we are ready to restock pullets from day old...
If I just this feed intake, what will be the average weight of the bird?
If the quality of the feed is good, you'd be having an average of 3.1kg and above
Please why are you giving them only starter feed
Spend that much but how much profit you will make
A lot more than the spending
