As a Thai, I let my Thai license expire because i was living in the US. The process of renewal was very painful. I went through 2-full-day training for both written and driving. They did scan the fingerprint before and after every break to make sure I completed my hrs. Then I had to come back the next day to take the exams including all the tests you went through. IMO to solve all the issues on the road in Thailand is to have stiff penalties especially for those bikers who like to ride on the wrong side of the roads.
