I loved watching this especially seeing how you fill out the report sheets. You’re an amazing nurse❤️
awww thank you so much 🥰
I got my B.A in psychology and realized that I have a love for the medical field, and really want to be a nurse. Specifically an OB nurse! I have been binging so many of your videos now. I love them. I'm going to apply for my ASN this year!
Ahhhhh that’s amazing!! Best of luck on your journey 💕
Incredible charting! 🫶🏽🤍🩶 👶🏼👩🍼 Your hospital seems amazing 🫶🏽
It’s so wonderful! So happy my first job is so welcoming :)
this report example was SO helpful, can you do one for L&D please?
What’s your email? I can send you one!
Love the packing your work bag and the filling of reports, so useful!!
Would love to hear more on what you do on the unit, what your duties are etc.
Great video. Also, love that book!❤
Watching your video makes me so excited. Thank you 🥺♥️
Do you think you could talk about the stress and anxiety of being new grad and what you did?
This was a great video. That report paper was great.
Thanks!!
I love watching your videos so far, I'm about to graduate from a BSN program in Portland too! Not U of P but a similar one. Love seeing your journey.
Thank you 💗 That’s amazing! I hope you’re enjoying the city, I miss it so much. :)
hey! this was really cool and interesting to watch! ✨
thank youuu 💓
loved the video, i'm in school now to become a nurse
Congrats!! 🎉
Omg I loved this!! I’m starting as a new grad being cross trained in PP and L&D! Those PP sheets help SO much! Do you have a copy of what you use when on L&D? Can’t wait to keep watching! 😊
The report sheet thing was really interesting!
Aww this is crazy. I just had a baby 5 months ago in anchorage. I loved the nurses so much and they inspired me to try to make everyone’s delivery and after care is the best it can be💓
So glad you had a good experience 🤍
Your cat isssooo cuteee ! Girlll you have really great hair products its a 10 is a good one !
I’m an ICU stepdown nurse and watching you explain your report sheets brought back memories from OB rotation and now I’m kind of interested in trying out postpartum! Can you talk about how you prepared for interviews in this area ? thanks!
I love hearing from other nurses, I’m in awe of the ICU and all it’s variety. You do amazing work. Thanks for reaching out!
As far as interviewing, there isn’t a ton I can say personally. I was fresh out of college, I had never had a previous nursing job, and since my junior/senior clinical time was in the midst of the pandemic I had very limited experience other than a few day shifts shadowing on an L&D unit through my university.
However, I have always known I wanted to be somewhere in the field of women’s health, so I spoke to that in my interview quiet a bit. I talked about spending time in the NICU with my twin cousins who were born very premature, and how that opened my heart to the world of mother baby nursing. Anyone coming from the ICU, ICU step down unit, or ER has a high chance of landing a spot in postpartum as long as they have the passion for it. Many of the nurses I work with started in the ICU/ER then came to OB. There are endless magical moments, but it keeps you on your toes and can be intense, from postpartum hemorrhages to providing care for fetal demises. I think speaking to the level of care your giving and tasks you provide would be helpful, highlight things that would be useful on the floor such as giving blood, dealing with post surgery wound care, managing lots of high risk medications, caring for people undergoing drug withdrawal, depression and psychosis, etc. It would have be helpful to have certain certifications as well, if your hospital pays for them you could complete a few and be ahead on that (ALSO, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, to name a few we need on the unit). But ultimately if you’re interested there’s a good chance you’ll get a spot, hospitals needs nurses so bad right if you wanna care for pp couplets, the OB unit would be lucky to have you.
I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else (at least for the time being) 🥹 it’s so beautiful watching people become parents whether it’s the first time or the tenth!!
You’re* oops!
@@xomaeve thanks for replying!
@@bless_a_qt from my experience, they mostly asked sorta... generic questions regarding my overall interest in the area, and my experience as a nurse (I worked at a clinic before this) so they asked how I would prioritize, organize, support evidence based practice... etc. I told them how I went into nursing school wanting to work in OB but hadn't been hired in the field, and how I've always wanted to work in womens health and improve their outcomes, how I love the family dynamic of postpartum nursing. They asked me situational questions, like how I handled things at my old job and I gave examples
a court of silver flames!!! eeeee i highly recommend reading the throne of glass series next (also by sarah j. maas) if you haven’t already c:
I haven’t read them or even really considered it! I don’t know anything about them…I’ll check it out. Might be a good series to dive into when winter starts??
First time watching your videos ❤
thanks for watching :)
The way you write your 8s tho 😍
I love these videos and also do you guys get to wear your own scrubs or no?
Thank you :)) we do not get to wear our own scrubs, specifically because the labor side is a high splash zone. Even on the postpartum side when I’m burping/feeding/changing babies I constantly get spit up on or peed on 🤣💓 so it’s nice being able to swap scrubs anytime during the shift
Hi! I enjoy watching your videos! I want to ask why do you bring your binder with you? I know that you mentioned it has the policies but like how/when do you use it? Sorry, this may be a dumb question but I'm just genuinely curious. :) Thank you!
Hey!! So I bring it and it just stays in my bag most shifts. I’ve got about 10 pocket/divider inserts in there. One is for all my unit to-do stuff, so for example I’m working on my “clinical ladder” right now so I can upgrade to an RN 2, and that has a lot of paperwork so I store it in there incase I can do some steps at work. Then I have a pocket with all my report sheets, since I make my own. So I print them and store like 10 at a time for the week. Thennn I have policies and procedures printed. They’re all online but if my patient is having severe blood pressures or I have a baby on eat sleep console protocol for drug withdrawal, I just take out my sheet and bring it with me on my clip board. I have all the steps highlighted and all my personal notes and reminders on there and it’s way quicker for me to know what to do! Then I also keep a copy of my nursing license and alllll my certifications and proof of CEUs (continued education hours required to keep your license) in the back just in case (CPR, ALSO, STABLE, ACLS, etc.) 😄
@@xomaeve Ohh okay! That makes sense! Thanks for the clarification! I appreciate it! :)
Hi, thanks for the video! I loved seeing you fill out your brain and sharing how you set it all up. Is there a way you can email me a copy maybe? I keep trying to pull it up from your link but the formatting is off and the whole left side of the sheet is cut off. Let me know if that's possible nid really appreciate it. Thanks!
Hi! Yes I can, what’s your email?? I’ll send it to you :)
How does on call work in your unit? During your 6 days off are you counting on call days in the 6 days or is it 6 days completely off?
Just found your channel & I love how relaxed your videos are. I’m applying to nursing school soon & I’m definitely taking a few pointers from your channel 😅
That’s amazing! Send any questions you have my way :)
On my unit we either signup on our day off if they are short staffed and we have extra time/want the extra $, or if the unit is over staffed on a night we work they call us and ask if we want to be on-call, and we can say yes or no. I normally don’t prefer to be on-call because it stresses me out trying to stay up all night when I’m not working and busy. 😂 so when I have 6 days off, I’m only going to be on-call if I want to be. Which is soooo nice.
When you’re on-call you get paid $4 and hour if you’re not called in, and time and a half if you are called in! When they call you, you have one hour to get to work.
@@xomaeve thank you so much for your response! Thank you, this was so helpful 🫶🏾
So glad I found your channel ! New grad OB nurse here and I’m loving your content and positive vibes ✨
Congrats!🍾 I hope you’re loving it so far
Hello! May I ask for all the sheets you covered on this video (antepartum, postpartum, c section, magnesium-not sure if that is all of them)! And thank you!
Could you please list the ingredients for your chai latte? From Australia here and want to see if I could possibly make something similar. Thanks!
Following-looks so good!
Are you from Alaska? If not, what made you want to move there for work? I live on the east coast but I’d love to visit one day. It’s beautiful!
I am from Alaska! I was born & raised here, and about half my family is here. You should definitely make the trip sometime, especially in the summer months.
i was wondering before you got your bsn, where did you work & what area during ur associates?
So when I went to college I did a 4 year nursing program and got my BSN, I never got my AA first and never had a previous (medical) job. 😄
Hello! Can you please share your mag and c/s sheets? I just started and it would ve very helpfull!
What’s your email?? I’ll send you what I have!
im going to be a post partum nurse! i love your videos💕 would you be willing to share a blank pdf of your report sheet?
Yes of course! What’s the best way to get it to you?
Dido to that question. I believe you can make a hyperlink for a pdf and link it below your video that way all of your followers can access it as well.
i just linked it in the description! :)
@@xomaeve Thank you! 💛
Interesting seeing how other hospitals receive report, as a postpartum nurse as well i want to ask why you report on FOB being involved or not? I don't do that on my unit. 😊
My report sheet says FOB since that’s typically who our patients have in the room, but it’s mainly to let the on coming shift know who the support person is. This person will have one of two “baby bands” that allows them to be alone in the room with the baby. So if mom wants to walk the halls, the person with the other baby band can watch the baby. The band also allows the person to come and go without checking in at the front desk. They just flash their band to show they’ve been put into the system. I personally like knowing the name of this person at report so I can introduce myself to everyone and address them by name right when I go into the room. I like to mention if the support person was in the room throughout the shift, and if they plan to be there the following shift as well. I find that info helpful because if the support person isn’t going to be in the room for the night I’ll offer to watch the baby if the mom needs some solo rest. ❤️🫶🏻
Go large 🙂 I love those videos! Keep it up Maeve 🙂. Thank yoou .-)
Can I get access to these? I'm a nursing student doing my obs rotation and what I have isn't as comprehensive
Yes what’s your email??
Would you share your mag sulph and other report sheets?
Yesss I can!
@@xomaeve
You look nice busy work to be a nurse
Is your report sheet just for you and it gets entered online later?
Yes I made it myself, I bring it room to room and it keeps track of the information from report and assessments and then I chart it when I have time.
17:17 what kind of appliance is that?
Hi, that is a toaster oven :)
@@xomaeve does the heat leak out from the top?
Nope! There is a switch that changes it from toaster over to oven, and that closes off the top. You can cook up to 450 in the one I have, I haven’t had any issues with temperature
Do you work all night shifts?
Yes!
🩺
What is post partum? 😊 thanks
Postpartum is the time period starting 2 hours after birth where the nurse takes care of the mom and baby in their recovery, until discharge. 😄
It's crazy to see ur name is actually maeve wiley loll whatttt
I know that show really tripped me out 🤣
@xomaeve literally loll and the ending got me all confused 😭
You’re lucky that you know you won’t get more than 4 couplets… We never know what we’re walking into. Sometimes it’s 4, sometimes is 6 and 1-2 NICU moms on top of it
Wow, that’s such a heavy load. 🥺
