- Redcat just delivered a killer RC beast for those who love to go bashing with a high-powered RC monster truck. The new release is the RedCat Kaiju 6S Electric Brushless Monster Truck and we got our hands on one of the first ready to run kits available to test. This truck is loaded with great features like large bore shocks, long travel suspension, rugged composite chassis, heavy duty driveline, Hobbywing brushless system for power, a high-torque servo and it’s topped off with a eye catching bright blue body. We took this beast out for a hard thrash session on a super cold day. We jumped it, we roosted dirt, we did backflips and ripped some speed runs on 4S. But something happened during testing so we couldn't do a 6S test. What happened? You’ll need to watch the video to see!

Greg you always do a excellent job showing off these new trucks but can I request one thing that would help alot? Could you put it next to a couple rigs to show the scale of it for future new releases? Maybe put it next to a 10th scale and a 8th scale truck to give us an idea of thr size? It would definitely help the potential buyers. Just throwing it out there. It would be my only request to add to these already derailed overviews. Thanks! Also Greg any chance you can do a video on how you clean your trucks?

I first heard the term Kaiju on the movie Pacific Rim. The body style of this truck kind of reminds me of the shape of the old school Losi Jr-T, but in 8th scale. Love that body.

18 degrees outside. I never ever ever bash when it's that cold. Especially try doing double and triple backflips. 30° I'd think about it but 18° no way. I really don't think you can fought the plastic for breaking at 18 degrees. Also it seems like it doesn't flip over very often. Seems very planted. Great video can't wait to see you run it on 6s
Garett Bodel Yup, the handling is pretty dialed. I drive with one hand for the videos and it was easy for me to control. I hate the cold and try not to test in such extreme temps, but I have a backlog of cars to review and there is a lot of interest in this one so you do what you gotta do sometimes. I think most of us wanna see it run on 6s n see how it holds up to the power, also i've been running those Amazon special servos in a few of my rigs n its been good. I think a lot of people will hold off till they see how durable its gonna be
STEVO D 313 For sure. I had plans to show it on 4S and then on 6S. I had four 4S packs with me and two 6S. Unfortunately I got a bit carried away while I was having fun and broke the truck. I probably should have been a bit more conservative. Things happen. I’m going to revisit it for sure.

Yup. 6s is probably too much for the size of this MT after seeing it in person. I'm going to run mine on 4s only most likely. Just like I do on my Outcast 6s and Typhon 6s models. Thanks.
Yea I allways run my rcs on the lower lipo it's rated for. I allways have problem running them at the max lipo rating. All my friends are allways breaking there's while I'm doing laps around them cause they want more power for nothing.

It looks like a traxxas frame. And such like small xmaxx. I'm not sold yet. Its hasn't hit the cold weather yet and snow. I'm sure cold hits it and all that get brittle and bust.
In maine we get single digits of cold weather. And I'm not liking the frame. Its looks like a traxxas frame. I'm not liking it at all. I'm not sold. I'd be buying either a arrma or hobao monster truck before I buy another redcats. I had earthquake 8e. Its seem ok. But all of sudden stopped working so I got rid of it free to someone. I'm still not sold

Garett Bodel I guess you’re unfamiliar with the outcast - it’s a short wheelbase “stunt” truck just like this
The arrma outcast is a metal pan chassis designed off Nitro racing style trucks from the late 90s and 2000. This chassis is completely different. If anything it looks a little like a xmax. Looks absolutely nothing like and I'm an outcast. Unless you're saying big tires. But all monster trucks have big tires on them.
Garett Bodel I get that it’s not the exact same vehicle - I never said a thing about the chassis being the same - in my last comment I clarified that it was similar to the outcast in that it was a short wheelbase monster truck - I’m not sure where you’re going with your point about the chassis, but I do appreciate the discussion 👍
@@garettbodel3002 it srems much closer to a vkar/hellion than either of those. All trucks have some basic commonalities though.

Awesome review! I own one too :) Questions: Do I need to tighten the hex bolt above the motor? When I got it thats the first thing I noticed when I took off the body. I also noticed yours too not tighten shown on 2:14 to 2:16. What is that exactly? Just a concern...

Since I have 11 RC Trucks my wife said she'll "Let me" get the Kaiju under one condition, I sell one of my Trucks. So I decided to sell my Force RC Muckraker, I never use it since I'm afraid I'll break something and won't be able to find the part so now I've got a guy on the way to buy the Muckraker and as soon as he leaves my happy ass is coming back inside and ordering the Kaiju!
I have the hpi savage and on the colder days the plastic parts are brittle. Btw can you compare this truck to a different 8th scale truck? I think it's kinda small to be honest because of the specs.
Interesting RC. Small for 1/8 and the Datsun like body is an odd choice. Might pick one up after more videos. Electronics seem solid. I really like the look of those wheels, aside from the color.

Looks like a decent truck and considering it's mostly plastic, it's probably lighter than the outcast 6s and can get along better on 4S. Would have to guess 6S would be a tad much for it. I didn't catch if it had a center diff or not, will have to check and see. If RPM made arms for it, that would make it even more enticing.
1:24 did I hear gear slipping? Yep. You can hear it in the very last shot at the end of the video. I get the feeling 6s is going to tear this thing apart.

i dont know man. at 1:24 he was not running the truck. another thing is that an aluminum spur will be an option, and it will STILL beat competition by $100. it is a great truck

Nice first review and I really like the body on this truck very old school square Chevy look to it to me. It looks well built if it reviews fairly well I will be picking up one it’s a great price point for what looks like a quality built truck. Looks like plenty of power on 4s
What a fantastic review as always. This truck looks absolutely amazing. It’s driving and jumping really well out there. Looks like Redcat took it to another level for sure. Hope to see this truck as a serious contender out there! I think the breakage wasn’t that bad. Myself, I know cold weather I live in Colorado and we bash year round. I feel cold weather plays a big part in carnage. So that’s to be expected I think. I hope the upper link isn’t a super weak point but bad landing on a triple in cold or warm might break anyways. I can’t say enough how well you do your videos. The attention to details, the research, the in the field action, thank you so much for always being so meticulous and thorough on all the rcs you show. You can always tell the difference between red cat and team redcat. Looks like it's 1/9 scale? Please review the team magic e6 v-gen it's the newest version of the e6III and all the parts will fit the redcat be6s . Lots of awesome upgraded parts. 👍👍💪
My brushless Redcat Volcano was the RC that lead to my full blown RC addiction. That addiction however jumped immediately to Arrma, Traxxas, Kyosho, Schumacher etc... in large part because after breaking every freaking thing on that Redcat I was a professional at RC wrenching so nothing scared me. That being said I might have to finally add another Redcat, not counting my Scout II, to the collection. Thanks for making the time over the years for all the reviews they're great. Keep it up.

Kaiju is garbage.. first 3 minutes into a 4s on soft dirt broke an a-arm and then two dog bones.. good electronics.. terrible quality plastics
this is a proper monster truck looks is bang on and performs as a monster truck would and has been built just right for the price, i wished other brands would be like this i think redcat and team corally are there but traxxas arent anywhere close, arrma is almost there, mst is amazing havent had other branded rcs but what i can tell there not as good for price wise in my opinion anyone agree?
After seeing this i feel like i got screwed over buyin an arrma bigrock. God damn pebbles get in the chasis and destroy shit. A mt that can play in the dirt. Arrma center driveshaft pure trash in gravel, sand

I just got this to run on 4s I wanted something built to handle 6s so I could run it on 4s and make it last longer
I bought the Shredder as my first Redcat r/c. My question to you here is, did you have any problems finding the parts you needed to make repairs (right away) after this video was posted??? What does it mean whn the ESC is blinking 4 times. N there's no throttle. Redcat said was my receiver, but I put a new 1 in and it was still the same. I was thinking it was the ESC, but m not sure. Need help?

Nice looking truck and build quality. However i feel like with 6S power its going to flip over alot from speed into turns (being that its very top heavy at slow speeds,which is understandble cause the high center of gravity chassis)and more for top end as the trucks seems very heavy jumping. Overall alot of truck for 400 dollars.
You CAN run two 3s batts to make it 6s right?

Gold Goose Gaming I only buy RedCat rigs. I think RedCat is definitely going in the right direction with the company. Just the motor and Esc is a game changer for RedCat’s future. Have fun bashing that rig when you get it.

I never paid no mind to Redcat till they came out with the Gen8 International Scout, I've been a fan of the Scout since I was young, but the gen7 version and earlier just weren't that appealing to me on a chassis viewpoint. This monster truck looks pretty durable and with reliable electronics seems like it's going to be a hit in the RC market. Hopefully the aluminum servo arm is an optional upgrade like the TRX4 with their aluminum arm. I'm sure there is aftermarket support in that area, but I'd rather have the guess work taken out of it as some aftermarket arms are too long or too short. Next weak spot I see is the shock standoffs. I'm guessing this truck is in the 8-10 pound realm without batteries and feel like they should be a little thicker. The only other thing I don't like about it is the body, which can obviously be changed, but would be the first to go for me. Chassis looks like it's pretty well built and other than the few things you said and what I feel like are weak points, it's probably a good value. It's honestly about time Redcat got into more people's radar, including mine. I never owned a Redcat and don't know anyone personally who does. I know their website could use a little bit of an overhaul, at least last time I looked about 1-2 years ago. Lol.

I have RedCat rock crawlers and I’m definitely getting this rig. Yes, below freezing temps make the hardest plastics break. But, nonetheless it held up great to your driving off them ramps. Great video!

Because I don’t film every minute of running the truck. I get my filming done and then move onto additional testing where I can concentrate on just driving the vehicle. Did you miss the double backflip in the first 6 seconds of this video? 🤷♂️

Wow, all that abuse at 18 degrees and only 2 minor breaks. That's great. I'm an huge Arrma guy but this thing looks great and would probably buy it over the 3s Granite and definitely over the Traxxas Hoss or even the Maxx
I accidentally ran mine in to a mailbox post at full speed on 6s and only broke the front arm and bent the sway bar.I thought for sure it was destroyed but the Redcat took that lick like a champ.Traxxas and Arrma better pay attention to Redcat because they are coming up fast!

Yea the upper A-Arm is definitely a weak point but a super easy fix. 6s is where it’s at with the kaiju. I Love this truck I play with it more than my XMaxx... super fun
