    First no more filming outside 🤣🤣🤣 no mas to mosquitoes. I ABSOLUTELY love this skirt, I'm going to rewatch this one. I love the button, the pockets, the denim ( I agree with the others who mentioned, soften with coca cola), that yoke detail👌🏽And you know I'm loving that inside finish 😍😍😍. As much as we go on and on about inside finishes, I need to make some bias tape out of my scraps.

    Hi Karina, you are priceless! Suffering through the mosquito attacks. Stay inside and bitten free. We tune in for you and the many tips and makes that you so graciously offer. Another great skirt make and thanks for showing the details of the construction. It is always helpful to see again and again. That way it stays in my brain, lol. You look lovely in it at well. I like the bias trim too! Thanks again.

      You are welcome and yes, if I film outside it will be in the morning when there are no bugs around.

    I love these videos where you teach us how you draft and design your own patterns from a template. Some day I will get brave enough to try.

      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  6 лет назад +1

      You just need to try on some scrap fabric :) if it doesn’t work you can try again and no real fabric is lost. All this is super fun and once you get it to work for you it’s very liberating.

    Gday Karina. How are you? Love your skirt & the process you showed with your personal modifications. Aaawww poor you braving the mosquitos, the skirt came in well to flap them out of your way, made me laugh. Your inside pockets are great & the fabric you chose. Love the zipper you used as well. Thanku for sharing. X

    Oh ...and thank you for the back pocket instructions...sooooooo simple the way you did it..I have tried to make one of my own before...did not come out looking as balanced as yours!! the little squares in the bottom corner really help!

    Sorry...me again! Just had to point out that the bias binding looks sooooooo great! I am like you...can't be bothered...who's going to see it but me!! But it really looks sharp...so polished and finished looking!!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles

      I’m moody about what gets the binding 😂. The side seams never will.... I don’t want extra bulk there.

    Love everything about his fabulous skirt!😍 I'm making a denim barbeque apron for one of my nephews and because he told me orange🍊is a favourite color, I'm lining pockets and making bias binding (thanks to Nateida) in orange fabric. No one will see, but I'll know it's there. Thanks for yet another awesome, inspiring vlog, Karina!😊

    Great skirt and love the exposed CF zipper detail. Detest mozzies - they've even started hanging around during winter! Thank you for the Coca-Cola tip for softening stiff fabrics, I definitely learn something new with each video.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  6 лет назад

      They never left in winter here also. They’ve mutated and even spray won’t kill them.... ugh.

    Karina, what a lovely, lovely denim skirt! That's too funny that Nateida was able to convince you (she's so sweet, she could convince anyone!). I have tools for making bias binding but have not yet. I always purchase mine, so far (that may change!). I love the simplicity of this skirt!

    Great skirt and great instructions for drafting this denim skirt. I really love it and love the structure. If you want to soften it, did you know about washing it with Coca-cola? It really works and won't discolor your fabric. I do this all the time with my denim ready to wear as well as my handmade denim things.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  6 лет назад

      Yup. It’s a great trick. I have to buy some for that purpose. I’ve done it in the past with great results.

    I love this skirt!! I can soooooo see me wearing this...I love denim....and you can wear it year round here...with tights for winter!!I have a question...You took a centimetre off each side at the beginning to eliminate the darts...and when you were doing the back yoke...you took another centimetre off...just wondering why that was?...Just so I know when I am making one!! You look fantastic in it!! And the zipper on the front...I have to say I was never a fan of the exposed zippers...until I seen these skirts...now I am!! thank you!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  6 лет назад +1

      I took the cm off the back to eliminate the little dart left over under the back yoke. That little dart can be sewn up instead but it might look silly. Thank you so much for watching. This was super fun to make.

    Oh Karina I wanted to start scratching watching all those mosquitoes swarming around you why on earth didn't you give in and go inside we would rather you not get bitten than a change of scenery.
    I would have been running around the garden waving that skirt about like a lunatic lol 😂
    The skirt looks fabulous and I wish I could keep my lines straight like yours.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  6 лет назад

      Lol it was sunset and the only lighting option on that day and I had to film that day 😂. The straight lines are achieved with all the special feet! 1/4” and edgefoot. Magic. Thanks for watching.

  • @elainemartin5784
    @elainemartin5784 6 лет назад +1

    It's a Lovely skirt but did you realise you removed the value of the darts in the back, twice. The front pockets were really great. Thank you

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  6 лет назад

      I didn’t remove the back darts twice. The waist dart was transferred to the yoke. The tiny left over residual dart below the yoke was transferred to the side seam. In essence I didn’t remove anything, just transferred. What I did is not wrong, it’s just dart manipulation. Thanks for watching 😊.
