  • This is a travel video of British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies. What is unique about this travel video is it explores both underwater, at ground level and from the sky.
You can say this was my covid project. Being "stuck " at home in Vancouver, BC, Canada for the last year let me explore my own backyard and pick up some new skills.
The first new skill was purchasing an ROV from Fifish and exploring underwater off the shores of British Columbia, Canada. Before the second lock down I had chance to go up to Schelt and the Sunshine Coast as well. Only one day of travel to the coast, but worth every moment.
Then in August, I took the RPAS test and passed. This is the Drone License from Transport Canada. After which I purchased the Mavic Air 2. I then travelled around British Columba capturing some amazing drone footage. But with the second wave in October, I was no longer able to travel BC.
Being stuck at home, I then purchased a new editing computer. I7 10400 with 64 Ram and GTX 2060. This powerful new computer let me push my current limits with editing and colour. Also, I spent a lot of time working on transitions.
In amongst all that I started to capture my own sounds. So the ambient, bird and frogs sounds were capture by my. I wish to do more.
Locations include Banff and Jasper National Parks. Along the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. Squamish Valley was close to home and a beautiful location. So spent a lot of time there.

Hi Gordon, which type of Commercial Drone Use Restricted Activity Permit did you need to obtain to film via UAV in the National Parks?

The shots in the national parks, mainly Jasper, were not filmed with a drone. I used a mechanical slider. Details of my rig are in the video description
