I did it! I installed a bracket to hold the motor, bought a Premor trolling motor from walmart, and bout a lithium battery along with a charger. It worked great except i didnt charge the battery and it died after 2 miles. Lesson my arms will necwe forget!
I have the same Sevylor kayak and want to do the same, do you have to now register it now since it has a motor?? I live in CA and am bit concerned about getting a fine from Fish and Game
Yea sorry. I meant to post a follow-up video. When I got into the water, it worked great. The problem was... the trolling motor extends below the kayak a couple of feet; not apparent here since i'm on land. well if you want to get it into the water from shore, you'd have to walk out into the water (getting your shoes/pants wet) in order to get into water deep enough so the motor doesn't scrape the bottom of the lake. Come think of it, maybe I'm just dumb because looking at it now, I could have used the top two black screws to hold it up... I don't remember if I tried that or not. When I did it, the weight of the motor + gravity kept making the motor fall towards the bottom of the lake and I had no one to help me hold it up; it's a 4.0 lb motor. Here's another thing, the screw that holds the motor in place (see bottom of metal pole ~ 2:00), slips off easily. And yup, it fell in the water a couple of times... I had to go to home depot to make my own makeshift replacement. The motor itself operated well. The only complaint I really have is that the button to switch from forward/reverse is sensitive. Therefore, it makes it easy to accidentally switch direction.
Thanks for the reply and info. I was under the impression that the motor was supposed to unclip and rotate forward (and therefore fixes the hitting the bottom of the lake issue you mentioned) - does it not do that? I have one on the way for my Colorado and, like you mention, I have really only seen people build their own mounts for it so haven't seen much on people using the built-in mount holes for it.
Legend has it that he has still never taken the Sevylor Colorado Kayak out on the lake.
And the lake is still ther waiting on the sevylor Colorado kayak to this day...

Sorry for the typos lol!
Wish I could find one of these trolling motors!
Would those mount pads be available anywhere maybe use them or add them to a Inflatable kayak that does not have them . ? TIA
Is it ok to just have the connections out in the open like that? What if they get splashed? Just got the same motor for this year
Great video- I want to get this boat/motor combo for my son and I to fish lakes nearby.
Can you link the motor and battery combos please?
same but guess not
Hi jimmy nice information, do you still use this kayak and are you satisfied with it?
Hi my name is Evan and I have the same kayak and I was wondering were you got all the accessories for the trolling motor
Where did you get tht particular mount for tht trolling motor? I have the exact same kayak & I need to get my hands on tht mount?
Maybe the battery pack was too heavy and sunk the kayak along with his camera equipment.
