I just bought a really small and really sh…, welder to “fix shit around the house” Got it all set up and realized I need a little cart or something. Then I realized I now own a welder, and also own lots of random sh…. So I did the old, “look 💩 up on google” trick, and wow! neat! Your video pulls up. So anywho, here I am just telling ya how much I enjoyed the vid. And also! That last bit about,”…use what ya got, to make things happen. Make things work.” This is because, as I was cleaning up shop, “my lame garage” I noticed some old mattress risers that were left over from….well, no idea where they came from, BUT now after watching YOUR video. You’ve only further inspired me to GET weird, with this new tool I own, with which allows me to control the forces of nature and bond together two metals as if they were one. Great stuff man! P.S. Welding is kinda nuts! LOTS to learn and do as a welder. Are you a welder by trade?
Really glad the video was able to help inspire you to get out and create something. A lot of people focus on what they can buy instead of what I can make. There’s nothing wrong with either, I just prefer to make if I can. I am not a welder by trade, been dabbling in it most of my life.
Buy the hanging side cabinet with drawers from harbor freight and buy your own decent casters. That will cut down on the steel required to make that thing work, and it won’t get so heavy.
This cart isn’t heavy and very easy to move even with the crappy casters. All in all, there’s not that much money wrapped up into this especially compared to something you could by that’s equivalent. Do what works for you, that’s what this video is about.
love it man i had plans to do something similar i also have a husky box but i already know myself and i would have probably filled all the drawers and then it would have just been way too heavy to move around. i just built a simple small welding cart and it works so far
The statement every man that’s walked this earth makes once we tighten something or strap it down as we give it a tug the words “that’s not going ne where”!!!! 😂😂😂. Awesome video definitely gonna give it a shot
When one has a welder, every thing looks like a welding project.... :) :) :) I built my welding cart to hold my HF Omni 220 multi-function welder and HF 45amp plasma cutter. Repurposed an old Craftsman rolling tool box....26"x18" 3 full width drawers (replaced drawer slides with ball-bearing slides) and pull out door bottom storage compartment. Removed wheels, bolted two 2x12x48" boards in place of casters on box bottom, centered for a 11" bottle shelf on each end (tig/mig;ox-acet/plasma bottles), and offset toward back of cabinet forming a narrow 5" shelf to carry folding welding table, mount PVC pipes for welding rods, cables/hoses, et el. Re-attached the casters (actually bought new heavier duty larger diameter....for ease of rolling....locking casters from HF) under the new board platform underneath the bottle shelves. Instant wheeled welding cart....cheap....no welding required. Use a WallyWorld end of season sale BBQ cover for storage cover. Under $100 for slides, casters, PVC pipe, ratchet straps, 2x lumber, bolts, misc hardware, cover. No pics. If you can't assemble from this description, what do you have a welder for anyway. You'll spark your eye out. Hate YT vids showing every cut, weld, hole, rattle can pass before the finished project. :) :) :)
Nice! I still need to secure the tank better and get a second tank would be smart. I did but some better casters for the bottom vs the junk ones that were on the bottom of the tool box.
I pretty much did the same thing. the only thing I would change is turn the welder sideways so the cables aren't hanging in front of the drawers, and add some big hooks or something for the cables to hang on. Definetly swap out the cheap wheels for some nice rubber ones.
It’s been a work in progress for sure and has changed some over time. The casters are better, lots of hooks and storage and an upper shelf. Sure is fun letting your imagination wander and create useful things.
The more storage you have the more stuff you store..... But yes it’s been working well lol I can say if you do this, don’t use the casters that come on the cheap tool chest, they suck!
yeah im about to build a welding cart. i was using an office chair and that worked perfectly fine. but now i want the bottle so i can make better welds. i have angle iron from a ladder that i dont need and am taking apart, and sheet metal from a dryer that someone threw outside on bulk day, rust free powder coated steel baby...
I really like your idea and I'll be making one or two of these. You might want to take a piece of sheet metal the size of your tank area and cut out spots for your tank, Reinforce it with some tubing or angle iron. It will hold a tank in position much better than the chains.
Thank you sir, it’s been working out really well so far with lots of storage for grinders, parts, wire, etc. I planned on cutting a piece of flat plate with angle as bracing to cup the tank and hold it in place.... just haven’t gotten there yet. Appreciate you watching, commenting and being here.
Im sure it’s been done before but it definitely works as a nice cart. You might want to upgrade your casters, the ones that I used off of the tool box suck lol
You have to buy a plasma cutter now. It is either that or a tig welder or both (multi function rig). You have an empty space on your welding cart. You have to fill it, I think that's a law.
Looks good Gary! Excellent idea. Maybe take another piece of angle cut the radius of the tank from the angle and mount it behind the tank lower with another piece of shorter chain set up near the bottom. Just a quick thought is all. I like the idea though. I have the same welder cart and it just doesnt cut it. Always looks like a mess. Might be borrowing this idea later. ✌🤙
I came up with a few different ideas after I recorded the video, haven’t had time to do anything with it yet though lol I have some 1/8” plate that I’ll cut the radius from to clamp it in place front he front with a piece of angle behind it like you mentioned. I hated the old cart and it was time for something new. Keep an eye out at Homedepot, the front of the tool cart had a small dent so they marked it down to $96. Steal away, that’s the purpose... sharing ideas.
Yeah, you can get a set of 4: 2 small and 2 medium size for about $24 on Amazon but get the Mag Tab MFT10 first for about $12, it will hold small things square to your project.
That's a great idea! I feel dumb for not figuring that one out on my own. Definitely what I will be doing with my wire feed and my grinding and cutting tools. When will I see the next stretch video? Thank you for the great idea😃
Ha, I felt the same way for not thinking of this sooner.... although I’m sure it’s been done plenty of times and we just haven’t ran across it yet. We’ll be working on the 60 on next weeks video! I appreciate you being here buddy.
@@Jose-fc5yd the base for the box and tanks are all one piece base with the tank between the wheels, you could easily put 2 large tanks there without issue.

That’s really nice that your kids got you that for your birthday. It seems most everything is made in the same area, then the manufacturers have them painted whatever color and have their logo stickers out on them. Not much difference at all between the HF 200 and the one from Eastwood. Only suggestion I have for you from a similar build I did. Turn your welder around so your gun and ground isn’t in the way of your drawers.
It took me a while to get to that lol
Appreciate the feedback 👍
Good thinking!

Having a cart definitely makes it easier, for me at least.

Weld a bar across the two verticals with an eyelet close to the tank near the middle. Use ratchet strap or cable with a cable lock. No slack
