    "How'd You Find That?" - No Country For Old Men (2007) #shorts #nocountryforoldmen #moviescene
    No Country for Old Men is a 2007 American neo-Western crime thriller film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, based on Cormac McCarthy's 2005 novel of the same name. Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin, the film is set in the desert landscape of 1980 West Texas. The film revisits the themes of fate, conscience, and circumstance that the Coen brothers had explored in the films Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987), and Fargo (1996). The film follows three main characters: Llewelyn Moss (Brolin), a Vietnam War veteran and welder who stumbles upon a large sum of money in the desert; Anton Chigurh (Bardem), a hitman who is sent to recover the money; and Ed Tom Bell (Jones), a sheriff investigating the crime. The film also stars Kelly Macdonald as Moss's wife Carla Jean and Woody Harrelson as a bounty hunter seeking Moss and the return of the $2 million.

    For context, when he asks "How'd you find that?", he realized that the man who hired him (the guy with the beard in the office), had also hired a bunch of other bounty hunters too. Anton works on principle of being the 'right tool for the job', and so he kills him in the office on principle of being disrespected by having his skills doubted in such an insulting way.
    It's also the "rule" that Carson Wells intended to follow after their former partnership dissolved; to never compete with Chigurh for a bounty because he kills his competition on principle. If he's hired to do a job, you can only hire him, otherwise he'll kill whoever else is looking for the bounty and the person who hired them all to begin with.

    • @mr.t0xic100
      @mr.t0xic100 11 месяцев назад +67

      Without a backstory, its much better. The whole movie is framed as Man vs Nature because Chigur has a very rigid and unyielding moral line that he walks. He doesn’t care who gets in his way, he will cut them down. As well, if there is no need for him to kill someone, they haven’t slighted him, or had themselves implicated in the events of the story, he won’t kill them.
      You can see this with the cashier scene at the gas station, he is not in his way at all, but he takes offense to how the man has made his living as its not what he sees as the natural state of things. Thus, he gives him a chance. They flip a coin.
      However, if he needs something or someone is in the way of him accomplishing his goals (the mexicans, the sheriff, and most importantly Lewellyn, he will cut them down with no questions asked.
      He doesn’t care about money, power, fame, or any vices of Humanity.
      And the final scene really nails it. The main character is not Lewellyn, its the sheriff from the beginning that is narrating the movie. He feels outmatched against the world, so in his quest to solve the case, he imagines an unstoppable villain that outsmarts and outwits everyone in his path.
      Just when they are about to face off like an old western, he finds nothing.
      Obviously, this isn’t to say that chigur isn’t real, but that his character and actions may not all be exactly as they are depicted within the film.
      It’s intentionally misleading, vague, and extremely hard to read through the first time
