The Potting Mix To GROW LARGER Succulents / My LATEST Recipe

  • I recently had a new batch of plants that came in and that means repotting again, so this time I decided to finally reveal my potting mix recipe and method to make larger succulents. With this one I find less desiccation on my plants, faster growth and better resilience even in rain or shine locations. Also, I give some ideas on how to identify if your mix is good, what ingredients I avoid using and how you can adjust the mixture depending on your location.
    Hope you like it and happy planting!

    I have this fantasy that the pumice dust/flour is actually the good stuff and that after separating can be readded to the organic as a rock dust that will give a sort of ballast or proper ph and an affinity to the roots. I'll give it a shoot for some sample subjects.

    This alnus is very helpful! Thank you for making this video and for emphasizing how promising it is! It has totally changed my CNS game plan! Thank you for mentioning also that adjustment in watering should be applied, depending on the root stage, pot material, size and amount of organic in the soil.

    I just bought a cactus & succ potting mix, and it is very sandy. What do you think of this type of potting mix? I was thinking of adding perlite to it. Should I do that?
    Miracle Gro is a brand name and its cactus & succ mix has a lot of bark. Which mix do you think is better?
    What was the purpose of the pumice in your mix?

    Hi! Great video! You mentioned bottom watering but how often do you water normally (top down watering) to flush out minerals, salt, etc? Like once a month? Or every 3rd watering? Just trying to understand your watering schedule. Thanks!

    • @KaleiPlants
      @KaleiPlants  2 года назад +3

      Hello Mam! I rarely do top watering right now, but if your water quality is an issue then you can top water once after 3-4 bottom waterings. 😊

      @KaleiPlants  2 года назад

      Hello! I've also had mushrooms before but they're not an issue for me. You can try adding more pumice and watering less often to discourage mushroom growth, but mushrooms don't really affect the plant directly. What causes rotting is a different type of fungus...

    Sir what is the alternate for alnus compost? What is the composition po ba ng alnus compost? Thanks

    • @KaleiPlants
      @KaleiPlants  2 года назад +1

      Alnus compost po ay composted na alder tree stems, bark and leaves... Sa highlands po sila nakukuha kaya mabibili niyo po yun sa Shoppee... Pwede po vermicast & carbonized rice hull as alternative pero mas effective po yung Alnus compost para sa kin. 😊👍
