  • I love Canadian railroading. Ain't even gonna try to hide it, so let's see how far I can push the patience of my family as we travel to Quebec City. Between driving and sightseeing we catch the Chemin de fer Sartigan or CF Sartigan in Scott, an insanely fast CN "Halifax Hotshot" Q120, and Via Rail at Sainte-Foy. Everything from ex-BC Rail M420Ws, Citirail GEVOs, and CN EMD/GMDs is seen in this video.
We also visit the Chutes-de-la-Chaudière Park, historic "Old Quebec" and ride the Funiculaire du Vieux-Québec. An action-packed "Vlog" style video with something for everyone!
This is the first episode in a series about railfanning in Canada's cities. Episode 2 will continue visiting Quebec City, episode 3 will take us to Dorval (Montreal, and a potential episode 4 will take place in Ottawa.
    Locations:
    Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Conseil (Drummondville area)
    Saint-Janvier-de-Joly
    Scott
    Lévis
    Québec City
    Sainte-Foy
Thanks for watching! If you haven't already, please subscribe and hit the bell to stay up to date on my new adventures.

Hey there! I live in Lévis, and as much as you may find the ferry funny at first glance because of the two bridges near is totally normal as a tourist perspective. Now as a local, I can say I took the ferry for 5 years each day morning and evening to go and get back from school (by foot) and the travel time is cut by at least 30-40 minutes sometimes more because of rush hour. The downtown to downtown observation was spot on! Also, it is a quick way to get a view from Québec city and visit Lévis and learn about our industrial past, notably shipbuilding (Davie company) Actually the ferry terminal in Lévis is located where a train track used to pass with Via Rail stopping there until 1998. Before building a new ferry terminal in 2015 the STQ (Société des Traversiers du Québec/ Québec ferry society, lead by the provincial GOV.) used the old Via train station! The old train track is now a bike path and Via passes south of the city.

The simpler beaver tails are better than the over packed flavours. Killaloe Sunrise is brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon. Delicious desert.

Very cool to post this on Quebec Fete St Jean, some great views of trains in places few tourists will venture. If you come back this summer, chances are good to see the Siemens Via train in action

I have tickets to ride to Ottawa and back on July 11th, hoping for Siemens in one direction or both!

At the start of the video that engine by the grain elevator in Scott (Aliments Breton) is a MLW RS18 ex-Québec Iron & Titanium 46. They trucked it to Scott from its original owners. I don’t believe it was been used or works and that Sartigan provides switching services to Aliments Breton. (What’s kind of neat about this engine is it was built with a low short nose compared to the “typical” high short nose)

Cool video. About 60 years ago I took the ferry from Levis on a family trip to Quebec. Lol, small town with long name. You know you’re in PQ. Never knew there were so many saints.

Great travelogue Harrison! The images and music choices blend perfectly!
Man, that CN stack train was flyer, no doubt about it!
And no doubt about it, old Quebec City is OLD! It looks like it hasn't changed much since the American invasion in 1775. Fascinating. And that grand old train station's magnificent, it 's not just a train station, it's an outpost of the British Empire!
    Thanks for bringing us along!
Oh, and your car could pass anything up there besides a Tim Hortons? Understandable! I've been to Timmie's in Saint John's Newfoundland and the coffee and doughnuts are superb! The wife loves the scones!
