The art design makes me think of a very old mech games called 'Earth Siege'. Which mostly dates back to around the same time Mechwarrior 2 was coming out. I probably played about as much of that game as I did played Mechwarrior 2. It's just sadly forgotten as the company that made it has long since gone under.
I really love the Sha Yu, if only because its visual design is extrmely appealing to me. I ran into it during an early BTA3062 playthrough and went "I want to pilot that". Very solid little force recon design for the CCAF.
Despite being a certified Stealth Armor Hater the Sha Yu is just neat. It just has so many genuinely useful loadouts that I kinda forgive the expense of Stealth Armor.
I really liked the Sha Yu in MechCommander 2, it´s a speedy, quite hard hitting machine in the game, and while not looking too good, it was cool enough for my taste. Though they went with a different loadout in the game, going with an AC and a large pulse laser, as there was no stealth armor in the game.
I like the look of it, without loving it. The weird blocky, but thin forearms, and vestigial upper arms give it a distinct look while seeming practical. The hemi-cylinder front to the legs, and cute little feetsis is probably a lot of what gives CR the 'generic mech game' vibes, but they are distinctive in Battletech. I quite dislike the blocky, hard angled cockpit on aesthetic grounds only because it contrasts so much with the rounded leg and feet fronts. But they all look like simple shapes that probably suit Capellen production, and are quite distinct from the Jenner and Cicada. So I think the art tells a story and is different enough for clarity on the table top.
FASCAM, Inferno FASCAM, Smoke, and sometimes SWARM are the only real uses for LRM 5. I used this thing so much in MC2. i like the chunkier mechs that actually look like military hardware
The 4B is hard to hit at long range, but it's going to get smashed when it closes to use the C3 & lasers and has to switch off the Stealth. I like the 2B a lot as a skirmisher alongside slower anchor 'mechs.
I have long played with Thunder FASCAM LRMs. Nothing like turning that advantageous clump of Heavy Woods into a very risky place to stay or go. Honestly, Thunder LRMs are about the only justification for LRM5s on much more than a light harrasser or tonnage filler on a missile boat like the Longbow.
The Arrow IV comes from support vehicles OFF MAP, the TAG is what guides them. So you can have this unit lock something with TAG and have anything up to a dozen Arrow IV missiles on target within a few rounds.
"The TAG deters larger mechs." A writer with a clever sense of humor.
You may want to stay out of ISLL/TAG rage, but big mechs usually have a good few weapons to outrange that.
My favorite Mech Commander 2 mech. I once played through the campaign with nothing but massed Sha-Yu.
I did a a play through that way as well.. was a lot of fun.

It looks like someone left a box of Pouncer and JennerIIC parts at the Cappies' door and said, "Good luck."
stealth armor is fun and i'd like to play with it more often

Cool looking mech with several good weapon and equipment load-outs. It's hard not to like the Sha Yu. 👍
Were gona need a bigger boat...
It can be done! The large lasers are in scale!

Can't wait for the plastic one to be made.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRREEEEE!!!!!!!!
Another mechcommander 2 mech.
Off topic. Your voice and speech pattern spund exactly like Mike Brady from Oceanliner Designs. Antoehr favorite youtuber of mine.
I don't hate the art, but I'm kind of mystified as to where the Arrow iV goes.
