    Thanks for the review of the beautiful dali speakers. Dali is one of my favorite brands and Dali built high-quality and for my taste good sounding speakers

    I’ve owned a pair for a couple of months now. I’m really happy with the quality. Exactly as you said: really outperforming their price! I’m running them on a NAD C368 amplifier, great combo these!

    Great speakers which I thoroughly enjoyed, maybe a little shaded in the treble but the bass was brilliant. I upgraded to an expensive Naim pre / power combination and they responded beautifully. I bought new Neat Motive SX1s and TBH there wasn't a lot in it until I got the Neats positioned correctly but the Oberons aren't far behind. Best speakers under a grand full stop.

    Also had a pair for 2 years. Think I paid £599 what a bargain. Dali actually recommend or did at the time that one uses the grilles, and no toe in. Think the alternative grille colour which was available called mushroom did actually look nicer on the light oak version.

    You should give the Opticon 1 MK2 an extended listen, definitely punch well above their station!!

    These are undoubtedly Dali's surprise hero, who quickly upped the price after the initial posive reviews. I have Opticon 2 and Meneuts rotating in my other set ups and bought these for general family daytime listening. Tbh like a few others I was unimpressed with them for a considerable amount of time, there was a shrill from the right hand speaker high frequencies I was not comfortable with. Tested with any source or DAC phase settings. I nearly returned them, however i gave them about 120 hours mid volume listening, and overnight they became a true marvel!! I wouldnt expect a floostander at this price point to have such mids clarity, a good soundstage, and the detail and seperation was superb too. So, thanks for the review, I agree with your assesment, much better than expected.
    Interesting is the construction of the covers, normally Dali's have thin material with carefully designed frames for rhe construction. The Oberon 5's seem to move away from this with thick ribbing covering the drivers, its almost like forcing soundwaves through a cheese grater!
    Despite Dali advice, I like the sound with the grilles off, if the drivers have indeed been tuned to cater for such unnecessary obstruction, this surely just cannot be the best solution for optimum sound..? And yes, at this price point the covers should have magnets, wake up Dali.
    Great reviews, please keep up the good work...

      Is it worth going for the Dali Menuet SE over these oberon 5 with audiolab 6000A? Price difference is around $500 in my city. Kindly help.

    • @shaunroberts9285
      @shaunroberts9285 6 дней назад +1

      The menuets are great speakers with wonderful mid bass, and go lower than expected for such small speakers. I have a 6000a and they will have good synergy, but for a mid/large room for full sound, you will need to add a small subwoofer linked to the 6000a.

    Got these paired with Audiolab 6000A (£250 saving on individual retail) then added Audiolab 6000CDT - excellent! Upgraded with M-DAC (£200 off on offer, thanks Sevenoaks!) Much better on CD thereafter- so they do handle upgrades. Sounds great with newly acquired Rega P3 50th TT 😊

    I have Oberon 5 running on the Onkyo TX-8250 and sound is really amazing with enough bass and clear middle and high frequency range with a lot of details. but cabinets must stay at least 50 cm far away from the wall otherwise sound is boomy.

    I have the next model up with the Oberon 7. Had them paired up with a Yamaha AS501 amp and went all out with a Rotel 1592 MK2. They sounded great with the Yammy and they sound cleaner with the Rotel. Perhaps it’s probably time that I upgrade to the next level up with the Dalis. Choices choices choices… haha

    I keep thinking of changing my trusty 1030i Q Acoustics for a pair of these. They’re generally just a bit brighter than the Q Acoustics from what I’ve heard? (Low end doesn’t worry me so much as I crossover at 100hz in my setup).

  • @msironen

    I recently purchased the Oberon 7s and I love them. In fact I love them so much that I ordered the white grilles in order to match the all white finish that I picked, which for some god forsaken reason also come with those grey grilles! That's my only complaint (and it's the same thing across the range). Want white grilles to match your white speakers? Well that's just extra, son.

    Just ordered a walnut coloured pair to match my Yamaha A-S2100, they might become the bottleneck in my system, we'll see. I find the relatively compact size of the Oberons highly appealing. I used to own the Lektor 1 model from Dali as well, a very pleasing sounding speaker, easy to get along with.

    Got an open box pair for £550, thought they were a bit boomy & boxy, so topped up the meagre cabinet lining with some wool wadding, problem solved, loved them ever since, paired them with a Denon pma 800 and now a Rotel A11 tribute, they sound superb with both amps.

    • @pbr84
      @pbr84 10 месяцев назад

      How did you attach the wool wadding? Did you remove the speakers and pushed the wool into the holes and then only on the sides and back? Or can the front be removed?

    • @bigambientdeath
      @bigambientdeath 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@pbr84 I put the speaker on its side with a pillow under the tweeter end, carefully removed but not unplug the main drivers, cut a piece of wadding folded it in half and jammed it at the back of the cabinet without out any glue, just incase I didn't like how it sounded, also rolled a piece of wadding and filled the gap at the front of the cabinet that goes down as far as the bass port, gently stood them up, been happy ever since, did have a look to see if I could get the crossover out as well but there was not enough spare cable on them, fortunately the original lining goes to the bottom, hope that's clear enough 👍

      I demoed them (6G) side by side with Dali Opticon 6. Very similar open sound.. MAs are a touch more forward sounding. Both are leaps and bounds better than Oberon 5s.

    Not sure anything much beats these for the size to be honest, they are so diminutive yet pack a real punch - I don't need a sub with these, which is very surprising. Maybe because my Cyrus amplification is really punchy.

    • @andymill32

      Dali Specs: Recommended Amp. Power [Watts]
      30 - 150, the IOs specs: Power Output 30 W per channel into 8 Ω. You'd be on the lower end so I would get a better amp.

    I demoed Oberon 5 with Rega Io and found them really hard to drive. Even Oberon 3 filled a medium room better. Oberon 5 seem to be pushed a lot everywhere, but I was underwhelmed and would listen to others from the series and of course Opticon 6 are amazing and easier to drive and much better value for the money IMHO.
