A video comparison with the Rega Saturn would be very interesting :)

I bought the Atoll Dr200 Signature cd-transport after listening to this. (considered but didn't listen to the Audiolab 9000cdt). It replaced a Cambridge 840C. I found the Atoll superb in terms of presenting tone, timbre, space around instruments, location of performers in a 3d space, all against a black background. It looks good in black too 😅 Note that I connect it to a Burson Composer DAC, to Naim 272 pre, to QUAD 909 power amp, then Focal 926 speakers.

i got one a couple of weeks ago. i don't have much experience with CD players but it seems very natural and relaxed to me in terms of presentation. i really enjoy listening through it

I listened to the Atoll CD400se against a Marantz CD 10SA. The Atoll did present well and detailed yet lacked the body and finesse of the Marantz. That said, I am now a proud owner of a Rega Isis valve cd player, which plays cds like a turntable detailed but slightly layed back, no glare on the top register. It has a robust and excellent Philips CD Pro transport. Large torridal transformer, regulation on analogue and digital power lines. The construction is epic and solid weighing in at 19kg. The Atoll apologies pailed in comparison.😎👍🎵🎶

The ISIS uses a Sanyo laser assembly.

I’ve just purchased a Rega Apollo after selling my Rotel CD-11 T and the Rega is so much more engaging and dynamic and analogue too. The Rotel was very good but too bright on my older cd’s but the Rega gets it right straight away.. It’s really got me back into CD, can’t wait to hear more of my 1500 cds 😎👍

I have been “off” black components for a few years now. I still have some prior to tiring of black. When I bought my Atoll IN100 in silver I let out a sigh of relief and my Lab12 Pre 1 is even more pleasing to the eye.

I do like these fireside chats with no fire 👍🏻. Looking forward to the Dali video coming up. I own the 5’s with Audiolab 6000a. Love the sound but feel it’s lacking a bit bottom end so looking at options. Would Audiolab monoblocks be overkill for the amp to give it a bit more drive?

£1750 seems an awful lot of money when you actually can see there isn't really that much to them inside.

It took me ages to decide what cd player to buy at the back end of last year but I went for the Denon DCD-A110 SACD player and there’s lots inside that with a top quality brushless motor based transport.
I’m not a fan of OLED displays on anything as the tend to die early. Seen lots of Melco units with faded or burned in displays.

I agree, it did well against an Atol400Se and a Luxman 07 the latter a more expensive model. That said a British Audio I feel have produced a cd turntable that presents a CD format red book in a more favorable presentation. 😎👍🎶🎵

Not to be a wise a$$ but if something sounds realistic how can another thing sound “more” realistic? Are there different levels of reality? I also find it kinda weird that the standard for digital audio is how “analogue” it sounds. If thats the case why not just stick to analogue. Love your show though at least your upfront unlike all the shills on RUclips.

You should change the title of the video as this is obviously the ‘Signature' model at £1750 as the normal one is £1250.

@@markjohnathanappleton8642 if you mean Chinese built means poor build quality, you are highly ignorant. I have an Audio Music preamps which is 2 box and weighs about 35kg. Better build and finish than most Hifi. Performance is amazing.
If your objection is about Chinese regime, not buying their Hifi won’t change anything and you probably have a house full of Chinese goods already.
