@@GuillermoNicris Not with the Covid-19 going around. The safe is way is to rent his video's or watch hi m here on youtube. Theres a lot to see of him!
Its all surreal abstract stuff, my favourite is the one about when he moves into a new apartment and theres a switch in the kitchen that doesn't seem to do anything. This annoys him so much he flicks it up and down a few times times every day until one morning 'I got a postcard from a woman in Germany saying cut it out'. People are used to comedians making observations about everyday situations - Steven Wright's comedy is observational about a world that doesn't exist - just pure genius.
I moved into an apartment that had a light switch that didn't operate anything. Every once in a while I'd flick it off and on, but nothing happened. Three weeks later I got a letter from a lady in Germany - "Cut it out."
Whats up with the audience? This is great stuff and they can hardly muster a giggle! love the periscope/kaleidoscope joke. "We're surrounded!". hahaha.
Years ago, my band played an out door show. There were mimes all over the place. I said that line : _"f I shoot a mime, should I use a silencer_ ? Everyone laughed! It was a good one liner thanks to Steven Wright.
His funnier jokes were 'I was stopped by a Highway Patrol Officer - he said I was doing 80 miles an hour. - I told him I wasn't going to be gone that long.' 'I tried to throw my garbage can away...' 'I looked in my fridge one day and saw a carton of instant water - I didn't know what to add.' Rene DesCartes would have loved Steven Wright!!
I ran a STOP sign. A cop pulled me over. He asked me why I ran the STOP sign; I told him I had always been told to not believe everything I read! At 73 yrs old, I consider him to be the most humorous comedian I've ever heard or seen. His repertoire requires inference.
All the following comedians are from Massachusetts Stephen Wright, Bill burr, Amy Poehler, Conan O’Brien, Mindy Kaling, Denis Leary, Dane cook, Jay Leno, Matt Leblanc, Steve Carell, Jane Curtin, Bob Elliot, Jennifer Coolidge and 30 or 40 others that I’m not as familiar with.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He must have been doin great back then he was about to play at the oakdale musical theatre in walingford, conniticut im sure he was pumped for that one
And if he ever gets tired of doing comedy, he could make an excellent living as a fog light. All he needs to do it stand on the lighthouse tower and rotate
There's no way these jokes could be funny without the righ delivery. Anything can be funny if you deliver it right. Believe me, I'm one of the funniest people alot of my friends know and I say the stupidest shit~ I'm surprised alot of the times when people start laughing. Monotone is the right delivery for him and his style/personality.
looks like he had to compromise his material a little. Which might have downed his mood a little and add that to the tough crowd... But so far the best interview i've seen him in.
Wright's such a great writer ... and a huge influence on my stand-up comedy. If you have a second, come take a look ... hopefully you won't think I suck. DD
Usually (and still holds true) it's Shaffer who picks the songs, most of the time referencing (in song) something to DO with the guest.. be it his/her name, or movie, or what have you
@finnemccool Actually the routine, and delivery style is called beyond exceptional one liners, and its a quite common style of stand up comedy, a lot of comedians did it all the time, one popular one was henny youngman, but so far Emo Philips was considered the master of this style of comedy.
that voice! its from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. He's the creature that own's the sleep chambers that freeze you for 10 years or so. He ends up having sex with shake's mouth for 9 years. The allen episode i believe.
This guy is ADD for sure. Not ADHD, but ADD. Trust me on this one. If you want to know the difference between ADD and ADHD watch this guy and then watch Robin Williams. Robin Williams let it be known long ago that he was ADHD (imagine millions of people saying "Gee, ya think" all at once). Believe me, only an ADD person would come up with the stuff this guy does and have the mannerisms he does.
billy connoly said in his latest dvd that he thought steve wright was one of the greatest comedians in the world. Though i think there styles are very different i like them both but still favor connoly
I was talking to this beautiful blonde Japanese woman. I said to her, "Hi...do you live around here often?" She looked down & said, "You're wearing different-colored socks." I said, "I know...I go by thickness."
it takes the audience like a second or two to get the joke....hes a genius
Favorite comedian all time. When Dave says, "So you'll be at the Oakdale Theater on the 6th of July", and Steven says, "Ok" is beyond words funny lol.
Wish I knew he was going to be at "The Oakdale" 34 years ago!, I live about 15 mins a way!
We love Steven Wright here in the UK. He has a cult following! Never got to see him live but either way, he's the best : )
Seconded.
You might get your chance, as of July 2019 he is still alive and touring!
He seems like a good fit for British humor!

hi m here on youtube. Theres a lot to see of him!
A true original, probably the most influential comedian ever. He inspired Mitch Hedburg, Dimitri Martin and many others.
i love how he has so much emotion in his voice =)
(Ezekiel) Zeke Hamish Beckley: Noooooooo deadpanned comedy always makes me...💤💤💤💤
This man isn't funny. He is hilarious.
big time!
are you being serious?
@@jessebronson6976 Is the Reaper grim!?
I saw him about two years ago in Pennsylvania. The full crowd including myself was laughing all the way through. Humor is subjective.
I love the creativity in his jokes

I wish I knew about him performing at The *"Oakdale"* in Wallingford, Ct. I use to live about 15 mins a way.
I would of have been there!
Thank you for posting this, really.
Steven Wright is just hilarious.
I moved into an apartment that had a light switch that didn't operate anything. Every once in a while I'd flick it off and on, but nothing happened. Three weeks later I got a letter from a lady in Germany - "Cut it out."
okay
He was just on Letterman tonight, the guy's a genius!
"I can see into the future, but just way off to the side."
I said that once!
1st time I read the dictionary I thought it was a poem about everything.
I saw that show at The Melody Tent. Met him today and told him so. He told me I'm beautiful. All in all, a good day.
Whats up with the audience? This is great stuff and they can hardly muster a giggle! love the periscope/kaleidoscope joke. "We're surrounded!". hahaha.
Excellent interview.
If I shoot a mime, should I use a silencer?
Shhhhh

It was a good one liner thanks to Steven Wright.
Imagine Steven Wright as a kid... I can't do it.. :D
mitch hedburg owes his comedy career to this man
Wow, I would do anything to rock that hair do with that much swagger. You're looking at a legend people!
hes pretty funny, he doesnt tell stories like other comedians
Footage looks like Sega Cd video lol
holy crap, you're right. hahahahaha
You can't go "wrong" with the classics.

the part where he mentions zachary taylors death is brilliant

Love this guy! Love his style! ❤🤣
The simple "OK..." at 7:45 is everything.
Great I don't know how he stays in character all the time
the guy on the couch is the guy on the couch in half baked
Holy shit.

I put instant coffee in a microwave oven and almost went back in time
Thanks.
7:49 - this is hilarious
I once tried to open a tanning salon in an all black neighborhood.

his funniest joke here was one word: okay
27 years ago. Ugh.
29 now ....ooof
31...
i bet mitch hedberg was inspired by this guy somewhat.. they are both one liner extraordinares
0:49...thumbs up if that joke would be MUCH MUCH funnier if he said "every coffe is instant coffe if you drink it quick enough"...huuuh? niiice =)
...where the audience is about 50 miles behind the performer .............
I checked yesterday, and the audience is still back in 1990.
7:47, they mention "The Appointments Of Dennis Jennings" , a movie. I'm goin' in !
It's funny to hear a Steely Dan song introduce a comedian instead of radiohead or coldyplay.
Ahhh, unscented perfume comes in little empty bottles....
king of one liners
I do miss good dry humor on late night TV. Wherever did it go?
Go watch Demetri Martin do Letterman. Same exact style. You can tell why he was a big inspiration to Demetri.
Wright's such a great writer ... and a huge influence on my stand-up comedy. If you have a second, come take a look ... hopefully you won't think I suck. DD
steven wright has the oldest father in the world. father time was actually his son.
What's his intro music called?
The seven foot woman joke was a new one by me.
i cant wait for the 25th of july
Paula Abdul Jabbar, funniest joke ever!
the last completely original comic
Here kitty here kitty here kitty
who was the guest musician? sounds like brian setzer.
In school, every period ends with a bell. Every sentence ends with a period. Every crime ends with a sentence.
Steven is tops.....this audience just doesn't get him ;)
loving the steely dan intro,
What's the song playing at the beginning and end of his act?
Steely Dan - Reelin' In The Years... I hope you're not dead x
I heard him on KBILLY's super sounds of the 70s!
I liked it when he said he walked his dog all at once.
i cried with that joke, i dont understand WHY nobody is laughing... my 8 years old siste cried too...
hey it was his birthday just last week!...if he reads this...happy birthday for last week Steve! LOL
im watchin him on comedy central right now lol
I so like stealing his material and making people laugh😄😃😄😃
I'm a grocery checker, and I too use his material to make my customers laugh.
KBILLYS SUPER SOUNDS OF THE SEVENTIES
Mitch is a legend.
Did you see the part where it says 1990?
And here is one of my very own one liners: that´s Wright!!
Now THAT’S how you write a fuckin’ joke
Usually (and still holds true) it's Shaffer who picks the songs, most of the time referencing (in song) something to DO with the guest.. be it his/her name, or movie, or what have you
Is that his theme song?
@finnemccool Actually the routine, and delivery style is called beyond exceptional one liners, and its a quite common style of stand up comedy, a lot of comedians did it all the time, one popular one was henny youngman, but so far Emo Philips was considered the master of this style of comedy.

thats Danny Gatton playing into the commercial
@TakuMcShizzles Pretty good! That is one to use regularly.
yeah dude i agree.... i miss him
Oakland and Melody Tent are both rotating stages. Explains a lot -
This guy is ADD for sure. Not ADHD, but ADD. Trust me on this one. If you want to know the difference between ADD and ADHD watch this guy and then watch Robin Williams. lol was this recorded on a vhs?
The king of the one-liner was Henny Youngman.
Nobody did/does/will do it better.
billy connoly said in his latest dvd that he thought steve wright was one of the greatest comedians in the world. Though i think there styles are very different i like them both but still favor connoly
HAHA! NICE reference dude.
It's just a different crowd. Night club vs. TV
did he actually do the voice for that?
I recall Johnny Carson talking about comics that were destined for short careers. He mentioned this guy couldn't be funny forever. He was right!
I was talking to this beautiful blonde Japanese woman. I said to her, "Hi...do you live around here often?" She looked down & said, "You're wearing different-colored socks." I said, "I know...I go by thickness."
Yeah, that was actually him.
Mitch had HORRIBLE stage fright. That's why he would perform with his eyes closed sometimes. It can be overwhelming.
dryest humor ever, not for everyone but for those who can appreciate it its hilarious
A day ago I was talking to a gorgeous woman and........wait a minute that wasn't me
