Yes sir. The one I bought/showed at the start of the video was not machined correctly as the supplied washed would not fit/slide on it up to the bolt head even with some taps from a 3 lb hammer. So in the end, I had to re-use the original bolt as it fit great. Whenever I had the balancer off in the future, I will try getting another bolt.
Definitely looks like fluidamper is the way to go. Every where I look says I should key the crank, however the kit to key the crank says it won’t work with fluidamper brand. What is everyone doing when using fluidamper?
Keying the crank going to be something you do during an rebuild when the engine is out of the truck as a machine shop will need to make the change to your crank. Not really a concern when “just” replacing a balancer.
@@barryparsons867 The xdp pin kit only secures the balancer, which is better than nothing, but to fix the oil pump drive gear pin, it has to be keywayed at a machine shop during rebuild. Do a little research RUclips or Dmax sites and decide what’s best for your wallet. Personally I’d only do it properly when my engine is apart. Banks recommends the fluidampr and he’s been in this game 40+ years.
Great addition to the engine! and always using a new bolt is a great way to keep it tight to spec.

The xpd is not a bad idea will def help the issue from is snapping the balancer loose but like he said to do it right a key way needs to be installed
