- Virgin America Airlines recently sold to Alaska Airlines. Branson says he faced challenges owning an American company outside of America. He describes his efforts to make his airline perfect and friendly. On the purple lighting on Virgin America flights, Branson says that every little detail must be right.
What a shame because it was the best and last real first class airline in America we had . I flew it often and was always amazed. Even the club in SFO flying just up to Portland was First Class... this was what it was like in the 50’s and 60’s
and as a result, they couldn't pay their bills and had to be bought.
@@erauprcwa the last year they were not profitable was 2012 but it’s profits started to grow tremendously after that. For an airline that was only founded five years prior to profitability, primarily doing long-haul trips and having the highest marks for service and experience, it was a threat. Richard was right, the airlines didn’t want to have to up their offerings and wanted their routes. If Virgin had been left alone, they’d have gotten a larger fleet to compete with JetBlue and Alaska and the consumer would’ve been better off overall but at the end of the day, the shareholders only care about their profits 🤷🏼♂️
@@bw2532 Everything you said is 100% true. People love the free market so much in the US and this is the result. 🤷♂
There should've been a lawsuit to ban the merger between Alaska/Virgin America. I hope Virgin America works on a comeback 🙏

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
who is this awful journalist, stupid questions should get stupid answers
And Richard Branson was cheap too. He chose not to put ventilation on any of his Airbus aircraft so you cannot put animals in the cargo pits and Alaska wasn’t going to spend $2.5 mil+ to add it. So if you fly Alaska and are on an Airbus, animals cannot be put in the cargo hold.
Branson, stay HOME & stick to SMOKING WEED!!
