"The only purpose of the body is to carry the brain." -Mike Tyson
-Cus D’amato
"Your brain is a muscle too."
-Shane Fazen, 2017
U K Brains don't contain any muscle tissue.
U K Technically, the brain isn't a muscle.
He definitely meant figuratively.
this video isnt a science lesson, shane is a fighter, like any other part of the body the brain is also a weapon, one that can be improved or weakened so with shane saying that the brain is a muscle too is him expressing the fact the brain is highly susceptible to "injury" like an mcl tear or someshit.
U K Yeah I know. It's just a prank bro.
I sincerely hope people listen to your advice. Have read far too many stories of fighters in their teens or early 20s, who are still operating under the "I'm invincible" mindset and don't even see a neuro guy, let alone stop sparring, etc. The danger can't be overestimated, especially for a developing brain.
that's me, I'm invincible.
"I'm Jack's smirking revenge."
Johnny Machado You are not your quotes
Tyler Durden Sir, The first rule of Project Mayhem is you do not ask questions
Everytime i see a humbeing talking about the brain it fascinates me because its like the brain talking about itself. At the same time we dont see ourselfs as just brains
Cause we're not just brains. We're also the spaghetti of a neurvous system stretched across our bodies.
thats deep bro
thats what she said!

I got hooked like 6 times to the side of my head a month ago. I did not get KO'd but I got a concussion. It's a very scary thing. I'm glad you're putting out awareness for this Shane. Thanks.
Guy was like 2 times my size too
@@altinezmtz5222 how about now? Are you okay?
basically dont get knocked out
Yeh
Thanks for increasing awareness around brain injuries. I've been knocked out before and you gave some solid advice there. Something that should also be mentioned, however, is the effect of cumulative head trauma. Fighters who have been knocked out more than twice are very compromised and their coaches need to be aware of that. Keep up the good work.
MMA Reflections 2 times?!? Sorry, we would be seeing much greater numbers of all sorts of fighters with early brain problems, but we don't.Viciousness, recovery and of course genes are far more important in determining that
how you get knoked out?
I should have been more specific, more than two times in the space of a year or less. Diego Sanchez is a good example. It's only downhill for him now, unfortunately, as any more punishment he receives will have more of an impact than it would 5 or 6 fights ago.
Head kick.
Ive been choked out like twice or 3 times , but it was during sex , does my brain still take damage? My partner said i shit a little too idk if that’s important
It's hard not to spar when you're addicted to it. When I can't box, I feel on edge. It's also hard to pay attention to the advice when you've got to applaud Shane's guns.
Always good to talk about it. I find that the trickiest thing about concussions is that, passed those 7-10 days after the fight, your body might feel like it's ready to get back into action...
Well KEEP YOUR HANDS UP EVERYBODY.
I love videos. They give me confidence and practice and self control. This afternoon another kid (mabye my age , 13-14) started trying to provoke by pushing me around, mabye a year or two ago I would have got imtimidated and angry but from your videos and MMA training I controled my anger better and walked away, eventually a teacher punished him and I "won". (Even if you act is self-defense in my school you still get heavily/equally punished) Best way to win a fight is to walk away.
Cheers mate, just be careful not to become his punching bag
I don’t understand y schools punish ppl when u act in self defense like if someone punched me first without me doing anything to them and then I punched them and won the fight I would get in more trouble it doesn’t make sense
Agreed
Tell that kid what's up a give him the three piece with a soda bro.
Would school count as stimulation?
Thomas Ryan I believe so.
Thomas Ryan
yes of course. when you have a car accident and get concussed you wouldn't go to school eighter
only if you're a good student and participating and things like that. if you go just to go I'm sure nothing would happen as long as you don't think too hard.
Great video I was looking for a video like this. Thanks for the advice
Great video Shane keep up the great work!
Most pain or annoyance I’ve been through in awhile the first week is the worse when you have an concussion but after you slowly feel the tightness lighten up.
This is a very good well informative video thanks for uploading. Hopefully more ppl see this video and not skip over it because information like this isn't usually heard or seen everyday.
Another great video. Thanks Shane!
I got knocked out today. It was my second time sparring. I’m physically feeling fine, I just mentally don’t know how to go about it. I don’t want to give up, but I’m definitely feeling very discouraged. You spoke a lot about the physical part. What about the mental?
I got knocked out in my first fight and feeling discouraged
I fought 3 days ago and feeling extremely down after that knockout loss
@@tashreeqwilliams7174 Its been a little over a week for me and I’ve managed to deal with it, its not something I’ll ever forget but what helped me is to continue training man. Some of the best fighters in the world have been knocked out and came back even greater.
Well I got ko'd in sparring and I'm feeling the same way you are
Well men sounds like you didn’t get pinched hard enough to get a concussion. Bro some concussions leave people with brain frog and confusion like it did to me. That’s when it should worry you. About the mental part? Man toughen up, learn from those mistakes.
BIG PROPS FOR SPEAKING FACTS everything you said is spot on
i wish Shane was my coach :)
Mesi Kapp He is.
Amazing video Shane! Keep up the great work!
Shane u look awesome. lean, strong and atheletic. I want a body same as yours.
Ninja Amartya you ate si gaay xD
gaaaaaaaay
Jaky Jones Whats gay about that
kapliger you don't tell a man those kind of things, talk about the vídeo or something
Gerardo Seren lmao you're the only one who sounds gay dude
thanks shane .. i like your lessons soooo much
Shane! Can you talk about your memory or recollection of what’s happening/happened before and after you go unconscious from a punch?
Thanks
After hearing u said brain damage I am taking this more seriously. On Friday I was training taekwondo at University. it supposed to be light stuff, suddenly a guy( he supposed to have control since he is a trainer in an academy) knocked me out but I didn't fall on the ground. My vitals signs went down and I had nausea. I slept at the hospital for a day so I rest and that is why I didn't have any symptoms next day so I went home. On Sunday I slept like 15 hours and I still have pain in multiple places in the brain. I thought I will be back at gym and taekwondo training by Monday but now I fell like a won't be able to do that. Moreover, I have a competition on Saturday 3rd.
Damn what an idiot, also did you recover well?
hi Shane, I'm gathering more knowledge on boxing and thank you in advance also for the foot work videos, it has help my footwork tremendously . but I was wondering if you can cover a video how to deal with fighters that go in the outside fighting at an angle. for example someone like vasyl lomachenko style. thank you in advance!
thank god, last year i was getting knocked out. i rest only 1 day before ich went to regular training...after a few days i was sparring. Now, one year later i'm glad that nothing happend to me!!!
great vid, learned a lot
Shane thank you for all your help sir
Very well said Shane
Great upload, yet concussion can occur WITHOUT an actual knockout/loss of consciousness; any head injury is best assessed in an A+E/Emergency dept. with robust follow up care. When the brain (or the heart) is in question, it is always better to be over-cautious.
Happened to me! I wasn't event fighting, it was just a sparring session that was a bit heavier than what I'm used to. Didn't pass out, didn't lose balance, no double vision. Heck not even any pain until the next day. I thought it was just a normal migraine, but after 5 days of constant pain, I went to the doctor and he gave me some medication. Medicine helped A LOT, still recovering but I feel way better now than the initial 5 days.
I love fight tips, I been here for like a year now lol
Very interesting video.
Interesting.
Here is a suggestion for a topic: First aid to revive a person who has been choked out. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, how long should you train before you compete? And also, how do you know when you're ready?
thx shane keep it up👍
How do you heal from a body shot to the liver. This video was very helpful
What happens when your phone breaks? Get a new one. What happens when your brain breaks?
Alcohol and I don't mix anymore. I lately always get aggressive and last night I got knocked the fuck out during a scuffle. It was a nice wake up call to stop this bullshit and focus on better things
Shane nice one bro. I was knocked out once but hadn't tried those tips. thanks for the information, because I usually mostly get involved in street fights.
Shane pls make a video showing how to avoid knockouts in a fight.
#Fay~Z
Maybe you should avoid street fights if possible
@@GT-fl9gf okay
3 months is not excessive guys. Good tips from fight tips as always, but I would say 3 months is definitely not too much for a break depending on your situation. For me, I am on my second month of recovery after walking into a god-damned pole of all things lol and I still need more time before I can get back to exercise or weight training. Going to start stretching though and come back to the bjj gym as murderous gumby.
GOOD FIGHT TIP MY BRO
You should start series where people send you vids of themselves boxing and you critique them.
Hey man! Great videos👊!
Would like to know the first action after getting K.O or only hurt to the head?
(In a street fight) What do I do if my opponent has more martial arts experience than I do? Edit: Also, the "just run" is the response to any fight, you don't always have a choice. Also "just don't get in a fight." Guys, it was an actual question. You don't always get to make the choice.
Makoto have more running experience than him
Makoto dont
Makoto move to a stand your ground state
Makoto turn around and run away
Run
Hey Shane, I was wondering what's the mindset a person should have before going into a fight and during the fight ?
Have you found the answer yet😹
I got dropped yesterday in sparring and broke my leg while falling. Shit sucks man
In my first fight someone just came up to me and slapped me. I slapped them back and it was just back and forth for three slaps from both of us. But then the person I was fighting started slapping me over and over again. I realized he was using his right hand only so I put my left hand on his right shoulder and pushed on it. I then just started throwing punch after punch and one area of his jaw. At the end I was held back. Was this a good fighting technique?
I got hit about 40 odd times in sparring on the chin a bit embarrassing then the next day I started practicing on the slip bag is this bad ?
should I start mma or muay thai, I'm 14 and already train bjj and I have a brown belt in traditional ju jitsu
Hey so I was sparing to today and got knocked down and had to take a breather to recover but I got a fight in 20 days what should I do
Depends how bad you got rocked but I would say 60 days away from contact is a good measure --- but within a week, unless you were really really hurt, you can do all other training (weights, cardio, bag and mitt work, etc.....just don't take any head damage for a couple months if you went unconscious or took really bad damage!)
I have a question: I feel like I have had a small concussion about two weeks ago. I took a heavy shot right to the face in Sparring without headgear. I wasnt ko'd but in the same night I woke up with extreme Headache. One week later after Sparring (this time with head gear) I woke up again with terrible headache. The next day I didnt train but again woke up with strong headache. The headache was always on the right side. I was also very sensitive to light and noise and I felt nauseous. Since then I feel little tired (below my normal energy level) not very motivated and have a constant feeling of nausea and when I do some effort I feel my heart beat very strong in my right ear.
Can anyone tell me how long I should wait before I train again? And can I do non combat training like strenght and conditioning, shadowboxing, running?
Hi my man i have the same problem rn.
Did you check your doctor? And how are you doing now? (Sparring again?)
@@Sophist98 yes i did go to doctor. He couldnt tell me anything. I'm fine now symptoms stopped after one, tow weeks.. I paused Sparring for a week and now I do more often with head gear.
Just keep it easy for a while. hope ur fine
Were you throwing up from being so dizzy?
Ok Shane I have a question I got what some would consider a flash ko where the guy hit me I dropped and my body tightened up n I was said I fell like I got KO'd but I wasn't down even 5 seconds and got up on my own. So do you feel like I should wait 30 days before I spar again
Brain is an organ, not a muscle
He mean't figuratively dumbass
I would be interested to know what is actually being damaged from a concussion, because neurons have almost no regenerative function. Like what is actually healing because the cells are not.
The brain has stem cells so if you get a minor concussion and some cells are damaged if you give enough recovery time they will heal. But if you get a major tbi the brain can completely heal with time through neuroplasticity in which the brain rewires itself to make up for the functions of the lost neurons. But this all will only happen with adequate recovery time and proper nutrients required for brain health.
I just got knockout today for the first time sparring it was a guy who was 6’4 6’5 250 minimum and I’m 6’0 150 I don’t remember anything..
Is being dropped by a punch counts as KO or do you mean when you get knocked out and unconscious. If i just got dropped by a punch do i still need to leave out sparring/fighting for 45 days ?
I3RV if you feel healthy and you feel nothing wrong you can comeback but it really depends I never been knocked out or knocked down yet I get headaches and problem with balance I hope it doesn't effect my health, but yeah u can spar
I3RV yah it’s like if u get dropped but still can get back uo
His advice was 30 days minimum, and that’s definitely reasonable. If you got dropped, the strike did something, and especially if you were out for a split second that’s a smart minimum.
Shane, but your only talking if it's a blow to the head? It doesn't include body-hit knockout or liver-blow knockout, or you know what I mean...
well said sir .
Best moment of the day when you upload a vid !!! 🤙🏼💪🏼
Protect yourself at all times
Do you have your own gym or something?
I ask because the fighttips logo in the background. And I heard you say "MY fighters".
Have seen that TFC (Teams Fighting Championship) channel? It's basically a team of 5 skilled fighters vs another team of 5 skilled fighters and they fight in 1 big ring. You should check it out
Shane I started Muay Thai long ago. Can you see a punch coming by looking at his or her shoulder? Is it effective?
could make a video on how to properly heal sparing bruises
Dang Shane u got a licence for those guns?
Fully agreed!!
hey shane i have a question i don't like to streetfight or you can say im afraid of the problems may happen like for example if i punched the guy im fighting and he goes die this will cuase problems so what should i do and in the same time sometime i have to fight or i will look like a scared kid
how do you know you have recovered?
I want to be a heavyweight world champion but i'm afraid of brain injurys, what can i do.
Thank you.
Shane how can I take leg kicks when I can't check them at the right time. Or how can I see them comming in a combo?
Warrior Cherub yes but i find it hard to try to block punches and see low-kicks and not only comming at the same time
Does this include collapsing
Im really trying to get over my fear of this. Ive been knocked out twice in my life before (football and a sneak punch) and the fear of it is messing with me. I genuinely love fighting and want to become a pro. I just need to conquer the fear
thank you ❤
I walked into a wall was knocked out for a couple of seconds now i have veritgo which is a dizzyness how long should this last its been one day and i still have it and if boxers get dizzy after a knock out is there any kinda of food or fruit they can eat to stop it.
Hey man i got into a fight on the 20th after that ive been real dizzy and vomitting and today i just have a headache feel alittle dizzy and some pressure at the top of my head , i havnt gone to the hospital because the process there is so bad ill be there for a whole a day just dont have the time , can someone let me know if i should jus suck up and go or do you think its getting better . ive been getting rest and drinking alot of water . i didnt get knocked out but i was taking blows to the head
any body , tips on how not to be scared to get hurt ot knocked out because i dont want brain damage or anything what if you cant avoid how to not be scared to get hurt?
optumis primegaming ...just don't, simple as that. The best person who can help you dealing with fear is yourself, so just take a deep breath, be a man, and go.
I just sparred a guy 2 times my size I weigh 150 6’0 he was about 6’5 250 minimum. No one else wanted to spare me because they say I hit to hard. I got knockout but ik I put up a hell of a fight for him
Hey Shane.. nice day bro! I have a question.. A person who wanta to become a pro or amateur fighter must have a strong teeth? Coz we all know that a punch or kick to the mouth will totaly break your teeth.. is there any exercise for a stronger teeth to be ready in a fight?? Thanks sir! :)
what do you do if a friend or someone you see gets knocked out
What do you do when someone is knocked out in a fight or street fight? How do you watch them up and take care of them?
Good question, I'm pretty sure you move them to their side, and check their pulse...? Maybe, or just call 911 😂
Got kneed to face near orbital bone eye is swelled got it yesterday and i have a fight on nov 19th more than a month left right now need advice when i should start sparring i was a bit unconscious for like 1 secound then i stood up i felt little dizzy for 20mins then it all was gone. Should i fight on nov 19? I cant skip this please give me some advice i really need to fight in 33 days
“The brain is a muscles too “😂😂😂
dayum i didn't know knockouts were that bad
Have u ever been KO'ed Shane?
sakar sayami
he has been dropped by an ellbow and a punch but he's never been ko
talk about the jab ball, is a tennis ball with a elastic rope in the head and you have to punch the ball
Umm I got knocked out by a kick to the head and I never seen a doctor and had severe headaches after 2+ Months
Today I got hit and I dropped down to the ground, idk what it was, a concussion or a flash. I have a fight in 8 days and my guy still wants me to spar this Saturday. I want to get better but I don't want to risk my self. After that flash I got back up and kept fighting for 40 min
What about time off after getting a hard pounch but didnt fall on the ground, got unconcious,...
And during the first week does listening to youtube count as stimulation?
Shane when i try attack,i dont feel comfortable. How do i fix this.
Shane can u make a video on how to punch longer in time
i accidentally knocked out my friend today when his chin connected to my foot and he fell unconscious for a second. how long does he need to rest?
Please Shane please please please do a video on how to defend against feints please
How do doctors quickly restore consciousness to knocked out fighters in mixed martial arts tournaments like the UFC?
The best way is to not get knocked out , defence and fucus fight smart , if you get knocked out you have to see do MRI , some fighters who got knocked out they never get knocked out again sometimes is good in weird way , i saw some fighters got better after getting knocked out , the most Importat thing a fighter after he is knocked out need mental help
Please can you do a breakdown on Joshua vs Klitschko
Is there any technique or a move to kick and punch at the same time.........................?
Shane it looks like you lost even more weight man looking great
Shane could you please do on native American or latin American martial arts please because I really want to know how it originated and if it's effective
H1DD3N_3299 7 I don't know much about native americans, but the only latin american one that comes to mind is capoeira
