    Hey guys let me know any questions you have about the scanner and I'll be happy to answer them for you. Also if you have any other scanners that you want me to review feel free to comment and make suggestions. After all, I know most folks don't have the budget to be trying out a variety of different scanners before they buy one. That is why I do these reviews, so you don't have to. Hopefully I can help you to make the most informed decision on your purchase.

    Bi directional is super usefull. Example if you think a bad fuel pump could be the problem you can activate it and know instantly its turning on and off without touching a wrench this apply to windows, cooling fans etc. I have the d9 pro but I'd definitely get the d7 or something with bidirectional. The d8 is the sweet spot price wise. The Bluetooth module that comes with the d9 is why it's expensive that is a j2543 computer that does all the relearn, pcm flashing, programing keys etc.

      If you think this is nice, wait for my next video. I just did a review of a scanner from Xtool that combines the power of the D7,D8,IP616, and IP819, all for a really good price. That's coming up in a few days.

    I ordered one of these….didn’t realize it didn’t have bidirectional controls. I need to program a key so it seemed the same price as the dealership. I was hoping it would let me reset tpms….didn’t realize reset wasn’t set up.

      Look at my OBD2 scanner playlist on my channel page before making your next purchase. I have a bunch of scanners that I have reviewed and many of them will program keys and also TPMS sensors. In fact I have a different one from Xtools that will do both of these in on scanner.

      @@ModernDIYProjects yeah I’m a bit bummed out. Since I bought it on eBay, I can’t really return it. I needed to program a key but I also have a tire machine and I was hoping to do tpms too. Guess I’ll have to settle for this one for awhile.

    • @ModernDIYProjects

      That depends on the vehicle. Some vehicles have relearn, and some need to be reprogrammed. That is something that you are better off sending an email to the seller on Amazon.

    How does this compare to the Ancel v6 pro plus you reviewed a couple of months ago?

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  2 года назад +1

      This IP616 has more reset functions and does key programming for more, and newer cars than the Ancel V6. For example I had another viewer tell me a while back that the Ancel does not do IMMO key programming on Fords, while this one does. But this one does not have bidirectional controls and is not wireless. But like I said in the video, is that last part really that important to most DIYers? When I do reviews of scanners I try to cover a huge spectrum to satisfy every request I get, but not every function is needed by every user. As a DIYer I think this scanner has plenty of power for what I would do.

      @@ModernDIYProjects I am a DIY'er and I have used the bidirectional features on my D8 quite a bit (EVAP purge, set engine RPMs, test wiper relay, for example). I do agree most people may not have a need them, but given the features, the price point, the special functions, and lifetime updates, this is well worth the price. Also, this unit has tons of live data. Thanks for the video!

    • @ModernDIYProjects

      That sounds like faults in your ECU or you got a bad scanner. When an OBD2 scanner hooks to a vehicle, worse case scenario it wont be able to communicate, or have limited functionality. But to have lights come on tells me that there is something else going on there.

      That question is just too broad to answer in the small space of a comment reply. Aside from what I mentioned in this video you can go watch my D7 video and see the large amount of differences that there are. I go into great detail on the D7 in that review video also. Then you can decide better which one is best for you after seeing them in action not just reading about it.

      Bi directional is super usefull. Example if you think a bad fuel pump could be the problem you can activate it and know instantly its turning on and off without touching a wrench this apply to windows, cooling fans etc. Topology layout is nice too and the ability to talk to other modules especially body modules is a must on any modern car.
      I have the d9 pro but I'd definitely get the d7 or something with bidirectional. The d8 is the sweet spot price wise. The Bluetooth module that comes with the d9 is why it's expensive that is a 600 to 700 dollar j2543 computer that works in conjunction with the tablet scanner. You can buy it separately that does all the relearn, pcm flashing, programing keys etc. Good review but I disagree with not using bidirectional. It's like a PC or calculator just because you don't use every function your laptop is capable of doesn't mean you won't use alot. But basically non bi directional sees codes and clears them for the most part it listens, while bidirectional talks and listens.
