    Yes, it works in PPT 2007 and 2003 as well. In 2007, on the right side of the Ribbon, select Picture Tools > Format. Then, in the Adjust section, click on the Recolor button, then Set Color Transparent button.

  • @powerpointspice
    @powerpointspice  11 лет назад

    You can either right click and select the little picture symbol for pasting, or if that doesn't work or you don't have that option, you can paste into a simple drawing program like Paint, then copy and paste back into PPT. Hope that helps!

    Thank you for the comment! And don't lose your mind just yet :) -- I'll try to help you with it. What do you mean by overshadows? First, you should make sure that the mask layer is on top of the picture layer -- so bring it to the front, if necessary. You should also make sure that the mask is larger in size than you picture so you can't see it behind the mask. If you help me understand a little more, I may be able to help you figure it out. Also, picture format shouldn't affect this.

    Wow, amazing how much can be done using the newer versions of PowerPoint. I use to know it pretty well. Just amazing how much, more, more, you can do with the newer versions. I created a PowerPoint presentation and transferred it to Presentation Google, a lot of the effects were not transferable.

    Its always good to see someone who knows their stuff - I would not have thought of adding masks and animated backgrounds other than doing them in a video editing package then importing it as a video into the presentation. Thankyou for explaining it so clearly - it is very hard to get useful advanced tips in Powerpoint and I like to see how others put these things together. I will have a look at your other stuff and subscribe.

I get music from the MS office site, as well as freestockmusic (link in my "cool and easy" video). I actually have 2 videos coming up - one is on a fireworks effect (releasing new year's day, I hope) and one is on a "new design/animation features" in ppt 2013 -- am trying to get that out by the end of 2013 so it doesn't look too dated! :) I actually have a little bit of free time now before the avalanche of work kicks in again in the new year.

    I'm using 2013 but everything here can be done in 2010 too. The "picture background" options (the effects you see in the "moving background text" part of the intro video) and the "shine" effect can be done in 2007 and 2003 as well.

    Hi there - as I mention in the video, the "video" background option works in 2010 and later -- I really don't think you can do it in 2007 because the video options aren't very sophisticated. However, you can still make really cool motion text in 2007 by using the "picture" background and adding various animations to it (motion path, grow/shrink, teeter, etc.). The shine effect also works in earlier versions.

      Ashay Dwivedi Thanks, Ashay! I'm not sure if there's too much spice that can be injected into those (excel can be very cool with macros but Word... haven't found anything too spicy in it! :)) - I will say though that my favorite Word feature is holding ALT SHIFT while you're in a table row -- then hitting the up/down arrows to put the row up/down. That's why I love doing tables in Word (you can't do that in excel nor PPT). That's such a random feature though - not sure if that's helpful to you! :)

    Thank you for your comment, and glad you are enjoying the videos. Here is how to do it in 2007: Click the slide that you want to add a solid color background to (to select multiple slides, click the first slide, and then press and hold CTRL while you click the other slides.) On the Design tab, in the Background group, click the arrow next to Background Styles. Click Format Background. Under Fill, select Solid fill, and then choose the background color and transparency that you want.

      Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the videos. I must admit that I have to do a LOT of editing for the sections where I explain how to do it, including speeding up in parts -- which is why it takes me a crazy long time to do videos. :) I don't use any other programs (for now) other than PPT, Movie Maker, and Paintbrush (very caveman, I know!).

    Thanks for the tutorial. I got things right well almost... Can you please help me in keeping the background video behind the mask. coz when animation happens despite me having the mask on top of the background video it jumps in front till it plays and once the end is reached it goes back behind the mask.

      +Samuel Shiboo are you using 2007? if so, you may want to try the picture or shine techniques instead, as 2007 is wacky with video.

      Hi Jaqueline - easiest way to do it is to use Articulate products - it's very complicated in PPT. Someone made a macro for it a while back, but it only works on very old versions of PPT.

    Thanks PP Spice. By overshadow I mean after I got to set transparent color , the text looks OK , but the moment I import a picture, the letters stay behind the picture and the picture covers it all. However, if i drag the text over the picture, the image shows within the cut part of the picture and once I release the drag, the picture covers the text again. Been at it for 5 days now! PHEW!!
