Honestly I would have been jumping mad if I've paid so much and still receiving fakes or super low quality stuff... So glad Hope actually showed us not everything is trustable even with an appropriate price tag! Really appreciate the interesting contents she had created thus far!

Oh and thank you for educating peeps on how unrealistic the cheap prices are even at hundreds of dollars. Most designer clothing is expensive as it takes sooo much time to make complicated clothing properly. And paying good employees and quality fabrics is majorly costly. I wish sewing basics were still mandatory in schools. Gives people appreciation for how long sewing takes etc.
I watch doll customs a lot, and sewing at that scale has me impressed, I can’t imagine making human-sized clothes. My hands hurt thinking about it.

There's some designers on TikTok that take people over the process and prices, but people still complain. There's one guys dress I'd love to buy but I have absolutely no where where I would wear it to.
And this is why I don't own a lot of designer clothes. I would love to buy some of these gorgeous dresses and such, but I know to get the level of quality I couldn't afford the real stuff. I occasionally save up and get myself something nice. But videos like this remind me why I do that.
It's also good to take note that more expensive doesn't mean better or legit too. It's sad but this is why crediting and looking at credit is so important a habit.
What annoys me is that so many online stores charge, like, non-scam prices for cheap scam clothing. Sure, if I spend $20 for a three-piece suit or something, I shouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be made from paper towels. But if you spend $200 on a dress, you should get a decent dress! This is why I have trust issues lol

This is why you don't ever buy clothing online. (Other than like...a t-shirt.) Trying it on in-store is the only way to know you're not getting scammed.

--So I can't be sure, but my guess is that since "issued" means "provided"....HOPEFULLY the refund is either on it's way to her account or already in it. Just a relief in general bc I wasn't sure she was even going to ask for a refund at all.

It's actually such an appropriate touch to end the video with a demo that a high price point doesn't mean it's not still a scam. Reminds me of how sometimes companies make things "reassuringly expensive" as a headgame
A friend of mine's mother is a legit seamstress, who often would make her own clothes. They made my friends prom dress, inspired by two couture dresses she really liked. She looked absolutely amazing, but the making of the dress took her mom over 6 months and cost more than 300€ in materials alone, not counting in the hours of painstaking work of designing, sewing, and beading/embroidering the whole thing.
Wow! She must've been very lucky! I suspect it must have been very pretty 💡
I wanted a couture dress (Naem Khan) for my daughter's wedding. It had a long blue satin silk skirt, lace bodice with boat neck and a sewn in clear rhinestone belt. So I took photos to the best seamstress in ATL area and the owner of the shop made it for me. It was gorgeous and fit me to perfection. I still spent about 800-1000 having it made but it was still less than buying it from Neiman Marcus. If you have to have it, you can have it made for you.

Accurate. I come from a family of seamstresses, and have worn many couture dresses and other clothes made by my mom, aunt, and grandma. It's a lot of work. My mom and my aunt actually made my wedding dress. Although my great grandma was a seamstress for the governor's wife in Kansas decades ago. I got in huge trouble as a kid when I accidentally cut up a pattern my mom was making me.

These well-fitted luxury dresses are meant to be tailored to your body, because no two people have the same measurements. You should try buying these about 1-2 sizes over, so if you decided you did want it you could have it tailored.
This would be a great follow up! Find and feature a local tailor! Show the out of the box before and tailored after!

@@heatherduke7703 your basically remaking a dress . You have to take it apart to put it back together again. I know of someone who got a wedding dress for 1k then had to get alterations for another 1k. My friend had a figure similar to hope but my friend is much shorter.

Her internet sleuthing skills are mid, she couldn’t find the real version of most of the dresses and didn’t show any follow up searches for dresses when she thought she was onto something, reverse image searching doesn’t make you a sleuth

Hope's channel has recently become almost a comfort channel. It's always so wholesome and positive. I love watching her videos so much, they are perfect to watch at the end of a stressful day.

I gotta say that I really love Hope's positive attitude. Even when things don't work out, she keeps a good attitude and a smile and it's just really refreshing to see.
But that last sparkly jumpsuit is probably one of the worst scams that I've ever seen and I seriously hope that she is able to get a full refund. It wasn't even a decent knockoff like there was absolutely no structure or shape to the jumpsuit whatsoever.
It looked like someone took a piece of cheap sparkly fabric and then cut arms and legs into it and just shipped it off.
It was so bad it honestly looked like you could have gotten something better off of Fashion Nova or even Wish and that's just beyond ridiculous.
The first two dresses were beautiful though, and I thought that this was a really cool idea for a video because I know that I've wondered the exact same thing about a lot of these clothing sites that pop up in your ads that are obviously scams.
I am still so amazed that people can look at those professional pics of the real dress and think that they were going to get that dress for $160. I don’t think I could go to Macy’s and buy a dress that I liked for $160. Much less some complex thing with sequins and cut outs.

You’ve done amazing finding these; without being my OCD picky self I think the purple one is still a dupe but an AMAZING dupe! The stripes on the front chest area has more than the picture

The actual designer of the purple one is Drenusha Xharra. The one she got is a dupe with a fake designer tag.

I would have initiated a chargeback on the grounds I'd been scammed. Credit card companies and Paypal don't like this kind of thing!

I mean the good news is that most of the ai art generators I know of leave an intentional internet footprint so you can reverse image search it and see that it's ai generated, but are most people really going to go to those lengths to verify?
@@emmaisliterate1047 AI is getting better and better, so hopefully there will be laws in place to force sellers to mark an AI image as such very clearly, or face a penalty if caught. Kind of like how if you are sponsoring a product, you have to say so (on Instagram at least.) I kind of wish it were a requirement already. Maybe we'll get there.
Not possible. Real dresses are too intricate to actually be copied in photos.
@@Snow-xd4rv AI doesn't have to copy an existing dress. It can generate one, and it could look super fancy and fabulous and real. Then fast fashion companies that normally steal other people's images could use a fake AI image and send a knock off loosely based on how it looks, just like how they currently operate. At least that is more my concern.

Online shopping is a skill of mine. I would gladly investigate and find the real deal of any thing you’re hoping to buy, like seriously, happy to help. I was so glad to see you finally whip out reverse image search but then so sad when you fell for the jumpsuit… again. These expectations vs reality videos hurt my heart for you.

@@hopescope I found it, it’s by Yousef Al-Jasmi, who is a specialist in hand applying Swarovski crystals to dresses (which I figured, because if it had been done by machine it wouldn’t sit on top, it would have crushed the rhinestones underneath).

@@campbeachpetite not at all! I lucked out because I recognized the Swarovski crystals and, from there, found the singer Anitta performing in the jumpsuit (the article called it a “catsuit”). But before I figured it out I hit one or two dead-ends that were my own fault. I only knew what to look for because I’m studying to break into the industry. “I’m looking for a designer who specializes in high-end hand beading” is not something a layperson would know offhand. I am sure your research skills are amazing.

Terry Costa is a legit brand and company! They have some physical stores and I bought a senior prom dress at one back in high school. Their dresses are gorgeous but highly overpriced.

EDIT I THINK I FOUND THE JUMPSUIT DESIGNER! Mia Bella The Label has Jovani as a designer. The jumpsuits are super similar to the knockoff, and are all priced in the believable range ($700-1,900)

You should do a video where you buy Tiffany style lamps from cheap websites to see if its a good deal or if you get scammed. I’m moving to college in august and have this whole idea for my dorm; Open windows, vintage decor, visible wood, orange lights and to put it all together, a Tiffany style lamp. I’m already looking into the decor and everything but the only issue so far is Tiffany lamps are SO expensive, even second hand ones are! It would be SICK to find an affordable one but I can’t afford possibly getting scammed again. Anyways love your video! I just found ur second account too so I’m currently binge watching those videos haha
What I loved is that all the people who said that you didn’t have the correct shape for the outfits and that’s why they looked so bad can now get lost!

My only issue was the yellow one was bunched up around her hips, she has a really flattering figure but the fabric bunching completely destroyed it

As a seamstress these knock offs are awful at the same time some of them are very impressive because it still takes skill to copy the techniques even if badly.
Btw I just *love* your content, you're amazing and so fun! And a bonus for me personally is that we have the exact same body shape so I can imagine myself in these when I watch you! Makes it twice as hard not to want some of the things you put up for sale though 😂

That last one is outrageous! But, hate to say it, the pink one is NOT the original. Or at least, it's not the one in the first photograph. Compare the two photos: the original dress has thick, raised ribbing/boning on the cups. Hope's dress does not. The front of the original dress is smooth and seamless. Hope's dress has a waist seam, and an off-center side seam. Not the same dress.

It's absolutely disgusting that it's so normal for companies to do this. It's awful on so many levels. It's bad enough for workers who create super cheap fast fashion for horrible pay and conditions. But there are probably the same situation with these expensive knock offs except the workers get payed the same unlivable wage 😢 great video though, very interesting!
