"I own the store!"
"Well, get in it!"
LOL
You can see that Andy Clyde worked with the Keystone studios back in the 1920s
Loved Barbara Pepper in The Rogues Tavern with Wallace Ford. They were great together--her best movie.
Another fun filled romp with good ol" Andy Clyde from Columbia. Believe me, he really makes me laugh. Even the supporting players (Barbara Pepper and Vernon Dent) make the whole thing work. In fact, in 1946 future stooge Joe DeRita starred in a remake of this short entitled SLAPPILY MARRIED.
The remake is actually better
Barbara was actually considered for the role of Ethel Mertz on I LOVE LUCY, but she had a drinking problem which began when her beloved hubby died via an accident in the late forties. She and Bea Benederet (who had prior obligations) were considered before Desi found Vivian Vance playing in "The Voice of the Turtle" at the LaJolla Playhouse ("I think we found our Ethel Mertz" ) said Arnaz. As a footnote, Lucy and Pepper were Goldwyn Girls and appeared in ROMAN SCANDALS back in 1933.
What is a hubby ?

Wow- Barbara Pepper sure didn't age well. This was only 20 years before she played Doris Ziffel. BTW, Green Acres is one of my two or three all-time favorites, and I loved all the characters.
Barbara lost her husband in 1949 and left with 2 small sons she let her self go began drinking and put on weight she has to settle for minor rolls.
Andy Clyde looks exactly the same as he did in The Andy Griffith Show twenty years later, when Andy was sent to evict him.
Good gravy Doris Ziffel had really changed by the time she married Fred.
I wonder how much better this film would have been had the Three Stooges been in it?
At 12:40 - That's the same sound you hear when Curly also hits his head on the sash
This would be remade as Slappily Married starring Joe DeRita and Dick Wessel takes Vernon Dent’s place.
15:20 A different The End title.
