Once again snowshoe has taken exactly what's going on in my head and articulated it into a coherent sensible video, i swear you're breaking into my house with a brain probe to make relatable videos
Anyways lovely video as always, commenting to boost you in the algorythm and since i have nothing to *complement* that isn't already perfectly articulated by the video, i will instead compliment your art, absolutely love the way you do your backgrounds in these videos, i might attempt my hand at making a similar background next time i feel like drawing and have the energy to do so

I didn’t even realize how much “respectability politics” and internalized transphobia impacted my view on transitioning. I want to transition, but my internalized transphobia and urge to seem “normal” sometimes makes me feel like I’ll be “mutilating myself” if I do.

Still disagree on transmedicalism, but we do need to stop blaming folks who aren't "model minorities" for bigotry. Bigotry will follow us regardless of how weird or unweird we may seem to everyone else.

Watching this makes me realize how much respectability politics comes into play for me with my mental disorder. It's purely self-preservation, and that's IF the people I'm interacting with were even informed by me that I have what I have. I'm sure people can figure out for themselves why I don't go around telling just anybody about it...

I think that the concept of Respectability Politics was a shot in the wrong direction. Using Respectability Politics essentially turns you into a tokenized version of whatever group you are apart of, which ultimately undermines the purpose of the strategy. Honestly the whole strategy is made irrelevant by simply being civil and respectful.

I have to say the respectability thing can go so far that it does massive damage. I have heard people say rendering people applies retroactively. As in the person who transitioned after high school was purely misgendered in high school.
This along with "Any insult is a form of ableism and not to be tolerated" are the two extreme examples I have seen at least three times without someone just memeing.
It is a strange ploy to make the already poor state of the world the absolute bottom of the lowest level of proverbial Hell. The world is not bad enough, we must make it worse but in a polite manner, that is not useful.

I am confused. Are you saying that trans meds don't do behavior like this? Because t the trans meds I spoke with blame "trans activists" as they call me are to blame for being too loud and annoying for the hate that they have to play defence for. They tell me not to correct people when they misgender me and even mock me for doing this by deepening their voices and yelling "IT'S MAM!" So it really does sound like they engage in this behavior, my guy.

this honestly sounds like the biggest "that happened" story ever ima be so real. usually im sympathetic to people whove had bad experiences with transmeds but this sounds genuinely absurd & like something a child would make up💀

@@godlesssnowshoe I am leaving out a lot of details but yeah, this indeed happened and you trying to gaslight me from trying to tell me it didn't just shows me that you are pretty blind to what trans meds get up to. It's that or you are just trying to play defense for trans meds and you are aware of these things. You want to tell us that we don't listen or we cause harm, that is pretty rich honestly. I have tons of other stories I could tell, but you would just call them fake too I would guess.

@@godlesssnowshoe You are literally trying to tell me that something didn't happen when it very much did. If you want to plug your ears singing lalala and ignore what the most loud and vocal parts of what your group are doing that is not my problem. And this is why people don't and shouldn't listen to what trans meds have to say.

@@lilyesuna30 reiterating you need to look up what gaslighting means 💀 a stranger not believing a dramatic story is not someone actively attempting to make you doubt reality and feel crazy. i did not witness this, it sounds theatrical and overdramatized, and so i have no reason to believe it happened/ that it happened how you said.
not everyone will believe everything you say always and all the time. especially not when it sounds outlandish. gaslighting is not "this random guy on the internet didnt believe the thing i said".
you are clearly a child and this is the last of my time im wasting on this lmao- you can believe what ever you want, no one else is obligated to humor you.

It feels ironic that you acknowledge the need for rioters, but seem to be against xenopronouns, which are used basically the same way as graffiti is, just for language.

    • @godlesssnowshoe
      @godlesssnowshoe  Месяц назад

i think it's genuinely hilarious to compare a radical act of political protest like rioting, something that often risks peoples life and freedom, to ppl on twitter say to kill urself if you wont call them rawbeefself 💀 (thats not a facetious exaggeration, rawbeef person became an inside joke between my partner and i lmao)
that being said while i think xeno PRONOUNS are kinda a mockery of trans experiences and are to be frank, stupid, i do acknowledge thats very much a personal opinion lol. i am not calling someone that lol, but i also actively avoid talking to people who use those "pronouns" without having a preferred real pronoun instead 🤷‍♂️
my problem is much more with xenogenders than pronouns

I get the sense there is a huge disconnect and communication issue between the traumas, access to care, life circumstances and more of people who are pro-xenogender and those who are transmedicalists.
I'm pretty anti-transmedicalist but im also on the absolute fringes of society and have been for a long time, struggle to receive the medical care i need or be treated alright by the system, have repeatedly suffered terrible abuse by the system, and am generally disgusted by authority in general. I'm an anarchist, a Buddhist, a solarpunk, and a they/she/cat enby who's also on hormones when I can afford them and do experience some dysphoria tho not as much as i used to.
Transmeds tend to piss me off a lot when they disregard the experiences of xenos etc bevause they just blatantly handwave away what we say as "misinformation" or lump us all together.
Do you have like, a college education or something? Like, where does your epistomology come from? How do you decide what is misinformation and what isn't, and what gives you the authority to declare it as such?
There's a lot of pain and suffering here in my words. Tread kindky please. As usual thank you for the videos. Despite my struggle to understand transmedicalists or feel safe around many of them I am thankful for your perspective. You're a real one and have my respect. Namaste. 🙏🪷

transmedicalism fundemnatally exists *because* of the difficulty of accessing healthcare. I do not think id have an opinion on it beyond mild quiet annoyance if it weren't for the healthcare situation.
also personally I don't think i disregard the opinions of people who say they're xenogenders. my thing is that a personal experience does always reflect reality. there are millions of people xeno or not who have genuine and real feelings about things that lead them to untrue conclusions.
I do believe xenogender users are genuine in their feelings and experiences however I think the rampant misinformation about the science of transness results in people inaccurately attributing those feelings to being a xenogender.
their experiences and feelings are real, but they are not trans experiences.
I often aquate this to religion- many Christians whole heartedly feel as though they have a personal relationship with God however we have a plethora of studies thag actually explain the psychological reasons for these experiences of speaking to God that do not mean God exists, but rather explain how the environment of social factors of this religion mess with peoples heads.
their experience is real and genuine, but the claim they make on its basis is unsupported. this is my thing with xenogenders as well.
as for my own education, I have a portion of a biology degree but have not completed it yet, and my dad is a doctor with published papers himself and I use him as a bit of a fact checker to make sure im properly understanding and representing the research i refrence in my content.
I say these things are misinfomation because I have a special intrest, a tad of education, and multiple professionals to check my understanding and check my bias. I have a deep intrest in this area and science and professionals at my finger tips to check my work.
as such I understand that none of the research aligns with the ideas presented for how xenogenders "work" because they fundemnatally require that
      1. gender is social and does not exist outside social constructs
      2. autism fundemnatally prevents people from understanding these social constructs and therefore causes people to reject them.
neither of these things fall in line with the neurological and developmental research on transness, as research indicates transness is a result of prenatal neurological development that has a life long impact on the both structured and functions of the trans persons brain. there is also research on autism and transness that while not nearly as conclusive as the neurology research, essentially boils down to:
      1. autistic people are more likley to be trans
      2. autistic people are capable of determining their own transition needs but may need accommodation in health care settings
      3. autistic trans people are more likely to internalise the struggles that come with transness.
there is no support for the claims that xenogenders rely on. that does not mean people who use them are disingenuous but there honesty around d their feelings does not automatically make the conclusion true, nor does it mean its acceptable for them to reply on and spread the misinfomation their identity relies on
