    I lived in Rapid Valley from 2007-2009. I worked @ Mt Rushmore as a Park Ranger. Talk about experiencing all types of weather! And I quickly learned, the weather on “the mountain” was much different than Rapid Valley. I also also learned that when they predict blizzard warnings, believe it! I went through 4 blizzards in 2008-2009….May 2008, November 2008, March 2009, and April 2009. And through it all, I still cherished my time there.

    Thanks Tristan for your informative video. My husband and I have plans to move to the Black Hills, not far from RC, as soon as we get our house sold in CO. Yes, the weather sounds very similar to the CO front range where we now live. I had read RC is in the 'banana belt' where the Black Hills to the west moderate the temps, it does not get as cold in the winter nor as hot in the summer as the rest of the region,. relative low humidity and lots of sunny days. We have gotten spoiled living in this kind of climate in CO, but ready to leave the large metros and a state that has turned into CA 2.0.. We love your governor, so much common sense and a freedom lover. The Black Hills are gorgeous! We do have a realtor lined up when we are able to make the move. Thanks again.

    I have lived most of my life here in Fort Worth, Texas, but I did spend a little time in New York City in 1992-93 and in the Denver area in 1994-95. I'll never live in NYC again, but I loved living in Colorado. My wife and I (who wasn't married to me when I lived in metro Denver) have wanted to move away from the oppressive summers and awful traffic here in Dallas-Fort Worth, and we've looked at Colorado and Montana (because I love mountains). The real estate in Colorado is too expensive, and the home prices in Montana don't measure up with the salaries there. We did just visit Rapid City and the Black Hills area and loved it. We are looking to move somewhere early next summer (after our youngest gets done with high school), and Rapid City is high on our list. The weather you describe doesn't sound much different from that in Colorado....

    • @TristanEmond
      @TristanEmond  3 года назад

      There will usually be at least one hail storm that causes damage somewhere in the Hills every year. Last year we had a few more than usual. Make sure you are covered well on insurance. You'll start to notice the signs when a hail storm is imminent - warm days bring on storms in the afternoon. They can come in quick but usually you can see the clouds and know when it might be coming to prepare. Sometimes you are driving in it and you pull over until it's done. Then call your insurance agent. 🤣🤷‍♂️😎
