My family and I enjoyed our vacation in Deadwood, SD. It was close to all the tourist attractions. And we could walk on the main street in the evening. It had a small town feel.
I'm glad you enjoyed your vaca! We do have a number of communities that have that small town feel - and still have the necessary goods and services. People who live in the Lead/Deadwood area love it there. 😎

I think the best example is something that happened last week. I was doing the walk thru with my clients and the neighbor came by, introduced himself, starting chatting all about the subdivision and the deer in the backyard. My clients were impressed since they would never see that where they were from. People will smile and nod to you as you pass them on the bike path, but not so much as to get in your business. Live and let live. 👌
Before you comment google Amarillo Tx real estate in the price range your looking at and be shocked at what you get for the same money. It completely changed my mind on re location. Love SD but paying that much for a siding home is a no go. Noem will not be the Governor forever is the second consideration for me anyways.
Yes I've heard that from clients moving to and from Texas. Everything is bigger in Texas! Not sure I'd love the heat...maybe a Texas winter retreat! 😍😎
I've only been to amarillo once but it didn't have many redeeming qualities. Whole city smelled like an animal farm, trash every where, and flat as a board as far as the eye can see
The Hail with higher insurance , HOA costs , The costs of heating and cooling in mostly older homes, Higher food prices, Gas prices are kind of at tourist prices, Sales tax, legalization of Weed. Don't forget the pros. You can get a solid home for under 250k or less, especially out in the plains. No state income tax and no local capital gains tax. Gas is not at a tourist price, it's $2.60 right now, that's equivalent to Wyoming and surrounding areas and less than most larger cities.
I'll be 28 in about month. I've lived in rapid city my entire life, and I'm not sure how long I should stay. Me and my 2 roommates pay $300-400 for utilities, gas, electric, ECT.

@@michele2566 Yes FHA loans are here! We also have first time home buyer programs if you qualify. Under $220K is probably only going to get you around 1000 sq ft with the way prices have been lately - I just sold a 2 bed, 1 bth, 1 car garage just over 1000sqft for $219K. Send me an email tristan@rapidhomesonline.com and I can get you started with lenders that can help.
@@TristanEmond still is very cheap, I would pay up to 850 or 900 for one bedroom apartment and life here in South Dakota is much better than in Chicago in many terms.
Is there any type of senior citizen break on property taxes. Our property taxes are similar, but senior citizens have their assessed value discounted by $150,000 by state law. The borough (similar to what you Yanks call a county) I live in gives an additional $68,000 break. So my $3400 property tax bill is now less than $1000.
I know you can apply for tax benefits or freezes. Not sure of the process or what it takes to qualify, but I've seen a few pop up, so I know it's possible. Each county would be different in its availability of programs and qualifications.
