What a great video. I moved to South Dakota from another state and it is a bit different home buying process here I made offer and was negotiated on a price. Offer was accepted. That feeling of "I just bought a house in South Dakota" on a whim was a real emotion I felt. I then got pre approved on a loan and closed on the property a month later. I live in a small town "East River" near Sioux Falls. I transferred jobs with the company I am employed with. So far I like it and it's turned out to be a good move.
I'm thinking of doing this... but I don't know which city I would go for. I like big houses with some backyard and not close to people or cramped up. I live in Louisville,KY.
@@lizgaby9761 You'll find we like some space in SD. The typical city lot is .2-.25 acre, with decent yards. House sizes in the average price range probably average in the 1800-2200 sq ft variety. I'd highly recommend a visit to each city to get the feel for what you like best.
Great info, I have a yearning to sell my SoCal home and move to Yankton but Rapid City may do fine. Having 3 million neighbors is getting to be a drag 😝
Yeah that's a few people around. 🤣 my videos should give you a pretty good feel of Rapid City. I've visited Yankton a few times and seems like a nice place. Way more humidity over there tho...😎
OK. You will have a hard time buying a home with any real estate agent then. It's SD state law that requires us to get the buyer's agreement signed. 🤷♀️
@Sukrit Sabhlok you can always buy a for sale by owner. Or the listing agent will have you sign a document stating you are unrepresented. But then he/she is totally working for the seller...
Thank you for this video! Husband and I will be able to flee CA in about 3 years. (we wish it could be yesterday but we must wait). He served (during 9/11) and has never used the v.a loan. We are in our late 30's and worry about finding work (I'm in healthcare he mechanical) and people accepting us once they find out this vile state we are from. Hubby is heavily looking into land in SD. I will follow your channel for tips! God bless!
Thanks for watching! You should be able to find all sorts of info on my channel 😎. The hospital here is always looking for help and contractors are in demand out here. Shouldn't be too hard to find jobs. Lemme know if I can help. 👍

Congrats and Welcome to small town SD! :) I grew up in small town MN about an hour and a half from Sioux Falls. I'm sure you'll enjoy your new home!

Great info. Vacationed 25 years there and would love to retire there, from Missouri.
Thank you! We love our Black Hills!
Can you do a video in relocating to South Dakota? Like tips and resources?
Keep watching my videos and let me know what I haven't answered yet and I'll make a video. Check out the "Moving to Rapid City" playlist.
Tristan, fantastic information as usual. Thanks!
You bet! Thanks for being a fan! 💕
Well the fact he suggests getting out of your car at night and walk around, just goes to show, there isn't any areas that are, "that bad."
Everyone has a different idea, so you gotta put it out there and let them decide. :)
Great video thanks for explaining all thsi
Glad it's helpful! Boring crap - but necessary.. 🤣
@@TristanEmond as a first timer looking to buy here soon I had no clue. I'll be reaching out to you soon 😁
@@theclydesdalerider that's why I made the video! 😎 looking forward to meeting you.

How tall are you
Very informative.
Thank you. Doing what I can to help!
For all the things a realtor isn't allowed to tell us, the internet(with some digging) can usually tell us. ;)
Right? I find out stuff I didn't know doing research for videos as well... 😂
Real estate attorneys aren’t used during the transaction?
Not in SD. Our fill in forms are approved by attorneys, but that's about it. All the title work and closings happen at title companies.
Any buyer agreement you asked me to sign would find me saying nope and seeing me walk away. Terrible for the buyer.
