Instead of a small shack next to the extract, i make 24 wood walls, 9 wood floors, 8 poles and a door. You can gather and build after u start the extractor going so no extra time. Build so extractor is in middle, no floor needed but make sure walls have no gap under them. Bears and wolves wont aggro is you stealth in the middle with extractor running. So once set up can afk for the extraction process except to empty it every so often. A 3 x3 will fit 3 extractors, a fabricator, a generator, three fires and a bed roll inside. I used alum and was fine in arctic thru any storm but for a quick el Camino run it is good to avoid aggro
Loving this option to farm exotics. Thanks for the video. A tip: I find that after extracting all of the nodes, if I go to the ore spawn location in O10 (the last one on this video); I can use unstuck to jump to the dropship.
I'll be updating the spreadsheet sometime but basically they aren't completely randomized now instead of a mission having up to 3 static veins (which the old spreadsheet was up to date on) there is now up to 6 veins that only 3 become active for the mission (which 3 is randomized from the list of 6) and not every mission will have 3. So more or less once I list the new veins for each mission you'll be able to just run and check which veins are active that mission and skip the radar if you want to. Still not great but better than what it was. And yes icarusintel has all the info up to if you rather look on that map.
Thanks for the vid. I need to build up the exotics again to buy the extractor. I think I'll go with this method while I'm doing longer missions rather than just to farm exotics. Deep Vein Extraction still seems like the best method considering you can pull roughly 250 exotics per hour on average. More running involved for sure but more exotics overall.
I went ahead and gave this a run to try it out. It's a chill run with a lot of free time to twiddle your thumbs, but DVE is definitely more efficient if you're strictly weighing time vs. reward. With DVE you can get 3-4 runs in per hour. Let's say 3. If you do it on hard mode that's 675 Ren and 189 Exotics (if no second node in the cave) per hour. This one is only 160 to 240 exotics in about 80-90 mins. This is not a one hour run on one drill. And....you pay 100 Ren up front, with no return, to buy the power modules. They only way this would be efficient is to have 2 drills. Get one running, move on to the next site and start that one. Collect the first drill on the way back. You said you don't like DVE, and I really don't either, but it's still the fast method for exotics and Ren.
I'm guessing you know this already: the Hark/Fermi/Duo envirosuits have 2 module slots. IMO, 2x module slots make more sense than a food slot for this, where you're sitting around, in a base with food nearby, waiting for exotics. Edit: Just noticed, the Inaris Lua has three module slots but -5 inventory slots. Need to test it myself but this would appear, on first glance, to be great for these types of exotic runs.
@@Fortizar The suits provides the module slots not the armour, & from my testing you can wear any armour over any of them. The drawback with the Lua suit is the reduced inventory but I don't think it's enough to be a problem & it's largely negated with most workshop backpacks anyway. If you're just doing exotics runs, 3x speed boost mods is better than 2 or 1, IMO - there's also an argument that this suit is the better choice for mission speed-running too :) But as someone else here eloquently put it ... each to their own, you play the game the way you want to play it. Some people choose to run Deep-Vein multiple times, others prefer to chill on a single mission - either way, they achieve a similar result :D
Yeah I think I miss read your message I was trying to reply to e everyone yesterday your right about the suit lol. Yeah that's exactly right everyone has their own method aslo g as it works for them then that's fine by me.
Id recommend El Camino mission instead if you are using the exotic version of the extractor. I would also recommend going ahead and taking the radar. The two nodes are close for which one will spawn. The radar will tell u which one to run to. And the one node will likely give u as much as both on agr stockpile. Running it on easy makes the higher level aminals not too bad and only need to set up shop once with less overal running around
@@Fortizar sorry that response confuses me. You dont need to complete the mission to take your mined exotics home. So less running and more time mining means faster exotics. With both possible nodes close and a bigger haul for the single node, it seems faster overal.
Oh sorry yeah I felt personally using the radar slowed things down for me, and the stockpile mission is more accessible for every player. I had just woke up when replying to you lol. I'll revisit el camino at some point this week on stream and take another look.
@@Fortizar so ran it twice this morning before work. Took 1h15m. With both times the node spawned at the further south point. Got 192 and 196 exotics. Only crafted a 3x3 pole barn, camp fire and bedroll. Used the radar at drop ship to see which node spawned and gather meat, fur and leather for the above. No other killing or harvesting needed. Can start extracting while gathering wood and fiber for polebarn.
Well, the problem with this method for me personally is I won't ever use Icarusintel. In fact I had to click off the video real quick when you brought up the map from there. I know not everybody feels this way, but there are some of us.
I saw in the patch notes that and I quote " This self-sustaining unit can extract up to 600 exotics per prospect but cannot be brought back to the station. Once it is empty, throw it away.". Unless I understood it wrong, does that mean that you have to rebuy the drill everytime ? This would get expensive as hell so I think they misstyped it but since you have it I was wondering if you could provide me an actual answer to this ?
Hey, lol no you keep the extractor as long as you bring it back with you but it needs a special power source also to power it from the work shop it's called "ic-001 Power source" it has a one time use and you can't refill it or bring it back to the station with you it only costs 50 Ren to craft though. Oh and you have to research the actual power source before unlocking the "ic-001 Extractor" anyways you can't miss it.
It is fast, but didn't you spend 100 exotics for the two fuel canisters? I looks like a net 84 gain. At that rate, deep vein extraction might be faster exotics per minute.
You know what they say - you have to speculate to accumulate :) My understanding (repeated here) is that one IC-001 fuel cell will mine approx 600 exotics, so whether you'll need one or two is probably dependant on the map you drop into. My experience is that the maps rarely hold more than a few hundred, so one should suffice. Of course, the issue I have with this cell is that they are consumables; it's not refillable & you lose it/them when you return - don't know if that applies to unused ones & I'm not spending the exotics on additional ones just to find out. Whether that also makes the biofuel option more viable or not? Each to his own, I guess. Just my take on this: it's the classic 'pay-to-win' mechanic, the option of paying for it is there if you want it or you can grind. I personally hate everything about the arctic/tundra missions (bears that can one-shot structures & wolves with built-in radar - not my idea of fun), so I did the arcs as far as I needed to unlock exotics & stopped. But it'd be interesting to see a head-to-head: multiple Deep Vein runs vs a single mission run, see who gets more exotics in the same timeframe :)
@@Fortizar As long as it didn't cost you for the duplicate. I can see underestimating with the power source and being left with the choice to leave exotics unmined or build a separate drill and fuel can.
