  • Exploring an abandoned Marina with everything left behind including boats! Explore #86
This 65 slip Marina opened in the 1960’s and closed permanently in 2017 after a large developer bought the land it sits on. It used to sell parts, fuel and offered a marine repair service and indoor storage. Access from the road is blocked now so taking my kayak to the Marina made it more exciting. The plans for this small marina is unknown to me. It was a great little Marina that once was busy with happy boaters. It now sits abandoned waiting it’s fate.

    About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

I don't comment often but I just wanted to say thanks for all the adventures you take us on! You are, hands down, my favourite urbex channel because your videos are always calm and relaxed and you're more mature than a lot of the younger and overly excitable explorers who think they're ghost hunters or treasure seekers. Also, you're Canadian. Granted, I may be biased on this last point because I'm Canadian as well, but I live in the States now so I like your videos because they help me to still feel connected to where I'm from on some level. I found this one particularly interesting because it seems like you rarely see abandoned marina videos in the urbex genre.

My buddy let me dock my little runabout at the back of his marina that had mostly big expensive cruisers. He used it himself to run for parts or the mail and his clients teased him about it, even though half of them were in arrears on their dock fees. We decided to name it and in 6 inch letters on both sides it said, 'PAID IV'.

Wow that's a pretty large marina you would think for a marina that size there would be lots of water activity and noise in the background but it's pretty darn quiet there. Maybe that might of been the problem too big to maintain. Looks like our great northern Ontario scenery. Fun explore l really enjoyed it. Best wishes and many more successful explorations of our great country. ❤️🇨🇦 to share with the world.

What is amazing is how much work it took to build the marina to begin with. Each pole had to. be pounded into the water - which is about 5 - 10 times harder than just pointing it into dirt. Plus they are working off a small deck that was probably only partially built to begin with, It had to take over a year just to build that place. If they had just kept 2 maintenance men working full time perhaps they could of kept the place in a working fashion to some degree. Probably took over 20,000 man hours to build.

Looks like it was quite the business in its day. The boat houses (covered slips) seem to still be in great shape even having sat for 5 years with zero maintenance done. I would guess the boats owner never showed up to claim it before they closed the doors? Its interesting some of the stuff left behind probably has or had some value when left. Air compressors, fork lifts etc.... Cheers thanks for sharing!

I don't think this place had a hotel ... It's more likely that was the family home built on the back of the office. It is amazing how much was left. It would be interesting to see what it becomes as the longer it sits the worse it will get. Eventually that concrete will completely give way in that boat shed.

Wow, I can't believe someone would just leave boats behind like that, a couple of them look like they would clean up pretty easily. Funny thing, that little sailboat on the floor is called a Sea Snark. They are made of a thick styrofoam with a plastic coating over them called "Armour Clad". I learned to sail with one of those boats when I was 10 years old. My little Sea Snark was red with a red and white sail.

That AMF Slickcraft boat that was left high and dry in the slip was a great strendrive runabout boat in its day. That go fast in the boat barn with the Mercruiser 454 Magnum was kick butt in its prime, with just one of those engines it probably did around 60 mph or so. Its alwys kind of sad to see abandoned places like this. For a lot of people, they built their family's summers around this place for at least two generations. That go fast boat trailer definitely has some value left. Most of the stuff that's been left behind, not so much. This is my first video of your's I have seen. I will be sure to check out more of them.

Thank you for going out and documenting this place . It must of been quite a beautiful place as it still is majestic even in its run down state . Would be awesome to of woken up to this place every morning and going to sleep every night . No noise from the city out here .
Now to my rant I hate developers and the only time I like developers is when they take a derelict building and property and create something beautiful in its place . When developers come along though and snatch up properties and then cause old character homes , old farm homestead’s or in this case a business to close down just so they can build a subdivision with a bunch of cookie cutter homes there well this pisses me off . The developers will probably build homes here only the rich can afford . 🤬 .

Hey Brent! Such a unique explore! I like looking at what people name their boats, that’s unique in itself. The Y-Knot was creative. Thank you for the upload! 👍😊. Ps. Good thing you’re not afraid of spiders as I’m pretty sure they are nasty and scary looking. I got over my fear of them living near a river.

If you’re worried about losing your equipment in your kayak just get some inexpensive dry bags to store everything in and they are watertight and work great

@@AbandonedUrbexCanada not sure what ones you use I got the inexpensive ones from a sporting goods store that fold over 3 times and buckle and have had them fully submerged for 20 minutes and inside stayed dry , you can also puff them up with air before sealing them and they float ! Anyway I enjoy your content keep up the good work👍

I was waiting for the creature from the black lagoon to pop up from under the dock walk way. I'm hoping you made it back home with all of your equipment. First time I've seen an abandoned marina. 11:36 looked like a large vintage 3 hook spinner. So glad you got a peek inside that ole boat too. Big Boatel and that shop tho Wow! More Awesomness from Brent! Luved this explore Thank you for sharing and posting this one! 💦🐟🚤

Cool tour, thanks, Brent. Re: your camera equipment: When you take it in your boat/canoe/kayak, put it in a water-proof container that will float. If you tip or whatever, you won't lose it or wreck it. Also, if you film while boating, have a strap on your camera that goes around your neck, so you don't drop it in the water. : ) YVW. ;p
