  • I’m not to sure what this place is. Was it a strange mansion, shelter or old age home? Trying to find out what it was once used for is a mystery. I have explored shelters before and most of the time they are unlisted and can’t be found online for privacy and safety reasons. The house has approx. 9 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 3 kitchens. It has only been abandoned for a few years. The property will be demolished for an apartment building.
Thanks Rick for letting me know about this cool place.

    About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

5:00 That is for your hair. It's an old-fashioned portable hair dryer.
14:15 those shoe molds are called "shoe stays." They would "stay" the leather, vinyl or cloth to the desired shape of the finished shoe.
    What an interesting place!

My opinion of this massive pad appeared to be several apartments. Every section appeared to have its own living areas, kitchenettes, and bathrooms. It may have at one time been a family home, then switched over to at least 3 apartments. Cool pad, considered it was made of recycled wood, windows, etc. Great explore, once again. Keep up the good work. I enjoy you choose to explore alone. Although it appears to have some danger involved. Especially today as nowhere is really safe. Be careful out there as it could be dangerous!!

Yeah, every explore I see-- I'm just waiting for some squatter to jump out with a knife & crazy eyes or some property owner to come barreling in on a truck with a mind set on running transpassers off, lol! Well that's what would happen to me probably... that's why I'm watching him do it instead. 😂

Brent, this is my favorite explore of all time. I hated for the video to end. There was a lot of talent used in the making of this house. All the designs and colors were unique. Must have been made by the first family of recycleables. Perhaps some 9 and 10 yr. old kids were given left over building materials along with hammers and nails and told to go for it. There is enough for a second explore. Thank you for a great video.

I liked the lay out of the place it could've been used as a boarding house but my thoughts Brent like yours a shelter specially seeing the photos and alot of cases we don't know where these shelters are for one reason keep people safe.

Since there were such steep staircases I think it was a shelter for abused women and children - definitely not elderly people. Each living space had a kitchen and areas that could be used as play rooms. Also, the remoteness and overgrown trees indicates seclusion.

You found a Frankenhouse! No wheelchair or handicap accessibility. Just getting someone out of it to an ambulance would be near impossible. Your guess of some sort of sheltered living or rented rooms seems a reasonable guess. Ha, that the second time I have seen an explorer guy momentarily flummoxed by a bonnet hair dryer.

  • @cydkriletich6538

Maybe an older home that was turned into apartments. Not likely a home for elderly cuz of stairs. It’s so chopped up! Parts of the upstairs look as if they were additions and very cobbled together, as if there were no actual plans. The wooden “shoes”are called “lasts” and are used by cobblers to size the shoes they make. Maybe one of the owners was a retired cobbler! Guess there’s a pun there somewhere about the house appearing to be cobbled together! Thanks for the tour.

my guess: a Dutch shoe cobler built this home when you used materials that you could find and not necessarily go and buy. the sheds and out buildings were for building and some sort of business. the home was then turned into, like you say, a group home or something that would generate income. just a guess. nice find Brent.

I believe they rented out the different areas of the house as apartments. Each kitchen area also had a bathroom, a living area, and 1 or 2 bedrooms. I counted 4 kitchens, so I believe 4 apartments. The owners may have decided to add onto the house after retirement as a means of bringing in money. They probably did as much of the work themselves to cut down on coats. Probably why there were uneven floors and odd layouts. Still a really unique old house.

I am blessed though, to be a part of your adventures! I have seen, in how, you and your channel has grown into something so much better, since I had decided to subscribe! I'm always concerned about you falling through the floor, like with the one house with all of cages! I think that was the one anyways! All that I know, is that the couch had almost fell through the floor! Please be safe out there and may God bless you! Amen.

Interesting but weird. Makes you wonder who lived there and where are they now. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your videos, even if they are shaky.

A bunch of people lived there. Looks like apartments and studios of some kind.
