LOVE THIS SONG. I heard it in the movie ADORE, just a clip, and found out who sang it and now it's a part of my daily workout. So sad to find out Ms. MacColl has passed. GREAT SONG, GREAT PERFORMANCE, she lives on.
Robert Henry Me too, I found it with that movie 🍿. Love it . The video of the song I was expecting something else , something more Tropical 🌴 with people actually dancing 💃🏽, like a real recreation of the song !
never enough of kirsty. she is beautiful and talented. i am so sad we have lost her on this planet....i am sure she is giving so much joy with her talent in another place. we play red shoes regularly at our dances and people love it. god bless !
Kirsty suffered with stage fright, so it was very brave to get on stage and sing live, Kirstys passing has left a huge hole, her talent was immense, respected by the music industry and fans alike.
As a American, I hadn't had the pleasure of hearing much Kirsty MacColl growing up, but she was featured on a Talking Heads album (along with Jonny Marr!) and I had to track her down. I ate up whatever I could and truly fell in love with her lyrics, her bright optimistic style, and, ... not to say least... her duet with The Pogues on the best Xmas song ever written. I was totally in love. It was then I had heard that she had died in 2000, about two years after I "discovered" her.
Am so sorry this lay die, i just learned this song from a English movie about a shoe factory and i tough it was awsome in the USA i don't think people know this hit..RIP Ms Kirsty and thnks for making me dance.
i heard this song on the radio like, a year or two ago and i couldn't stop thinking about it. i couldn't remember very many of the words so i never found it, about a week ago i started looking again and i finally found it and now i'm really happy
What a fantastic Band. The way the bass player goes off for a dance then comes back slides one note then hits the beat with the whole band absolutely together is fantastic. Oh and of Kirsty sings like an angel as always
Escuche esta canción en una película q me encanta "madres perfectas" "two mothers" y me enamore de la trompeta y esa cálida voz q interpreta en español, hermoso! Notas muy latinas. Me encanta.
OMG!!! I put my shoe closet on a slide show and used this music to accompany the slide show! For some reason I decided to look up this artist on YT!!! Had no idea she’d died!!! So sorry to her fans! I will cherish this music forever! She makes the idea of wearing shoes FUN!!! I love it!!! I do like to walk! I CAN ride a horse and I’m a Zumba Instructor so the way I dance is definitely a Scandal!!!! She’s singing to me!!!!
Love this song, first heard it off my radio station, was sad to read about her tragic death. Just figured out she was the female singer on "The Pogue's Fairytale of New York" another favorite, A talented gorgeous singer taken to soon. RIP Kirsti!
I bought two of her albums after listening to a story about her life on NPR several years ago. She was amazingly talented. And in this song her accent could have easily passed for an American one (perhaps it's easier for the British to emulate American speech than Americans the British) . Great band here as well. RIP, Ms. MacColl.
The best version of this song is on the movie 'Kinky Boots'. Unfortunately, it is only a small portion in a montage of other songs, but it is still best even if only a few lines.
@pocomamma Kirsty was English, born in Croydon, south of London. Her father was Ewan MacColl, one of England's most famous folk singers. Born Jimmy Miller, he claimed to be Scottish (and adopted a Scottish name) but was in fact born in Salford. She was a national treasure.
@vermonttenor MUSIC REALLY DOES BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER. Had it not been for Bette Midler, I would probably not have "discovered" this great U.K. singer (R.I.P. KM). DAVEDJ
Not only was Kirsty a wonderful singer/songwriter/performer, she was a REAL heroine--a mom who died saving her child's life. We love you, Kirsty!
Wow! I'm a 40yr old music lover and this is the 1st time I've even heard of this beautiful singer/songwriter. RIP.
Still missed.......Still remembered
I miss her so much.

So sorry I just read she passed I didn't know, so sad sending much love to her family and friends
Miss you! Fantastic voice!
One of my favourite songs.
Discovered this on an Australian Broadcasting Corporation "Airplay" compilation CD a few years ago - great song.
This was sooooooo far ahead of it's time.
A true inspiration of musicality and danceing movement for all time...her loss is a big for those who love her.
I adore this woman. 2019 ✌🏼💖🎶
The only thing that would make this video better would be to include more of the audience going nuts at the end. This is GOOD STUFF!
Another GREAT song ... Tropical Brainstorm, what a fantastic album
10 years on, RIP Kirsty.
One of my alltime favorite singer/songwriters.
Just scored this on the wireless, R2. and it reminded me to break out Tropical Brainstorm again. What a great album.
Simply magic in any kind of shoe x
Great talent. Beautiful person. Sad loss.
Love this song, first heard it off my radio station, was sad to read about her tragic death. Just figured out she was the female singer on "The Pogue's Fairytale of New York" another favorite, A talented gorgeous singer taken to soon. RIP Kirsti!
Life cut so short, great song and interpretation, watch Kinky Boots which features this song at the credits so wonderfully!
I bought two of her albums after listening to a story about her life on NPR several years ago. She was amazingly talented.

I've loved this song from the first hearing. Kirsty's version is the only one really worth listening to (imo)
:0)

I agree. Chiwetel Ejiofor is awesome in the role of Lola, sings well, and performs this song beautifully
Magnificent ❤
