Great idea for the microwave location. The factory microwave option is a waste. The compartment doubles as a pantry and the door can be left open while food prepping as a shelf. Great video.
You guys look like a happy couple. Enjoy your Casita and may God give you many healthy and happy years. Looking back in life, I should have bought a trailer years ago and now I think it's too late. But I wish you the best!
Thank you! Your video was absolutely useful! The command hook idea for the shower curtain is pretty dang brilliant, I just know I'll be doing this when we get our Casita! I like how you showed your puppy accommodations the sleep/dining area. We are planning to travel with our lab mix buddy, so this helps.
Very nice video. My wife’s biggest complaint about our Casita is the wet bath. We will be trying your clever solution when we roll out in a few days. Keep the videos coming.
Great informative video. We were debating on which model Casita we'd like to order since we wanted a twin bed model. Your video gave us the information we needed regarding the bed size on this model. Thanks very much for doing this!
I've had mine (17 ft SD) since 2014 and have done a lot of traveling from FL to Maine and a couple of summers in the western USA (NM, CO, WY, UT).. I like all floor plans that Casita has to offer. But the liberty is my favorite. Can you get one with just a two burner cook top instead of three? Like they used to have in the older models. Very nice presentation.
My Wife and I are looking at Fiberglass RV's - We are more of the type that stays at State Park touring or RV Parks with shower house, My Offensive Lineman body frame isn't gonna fit in a RV bathroom anyway. So we are looking at the similar Layout but with the front couch, I tent camped a lot as a kid, and later my dad and I camped in a "Cloud 9" fiberglass camper for a while, so I understand all the good things about them. We currently have Three Border Collie Girls 11yrs / 2yrs and / 10mos (Yes we are Crazy) We had Four, but our oldest (14.5yrs) went over the rainbow bridge last week. For the last 17 years we have been living in a Castle Sized Tiny home, 672 sq. ft. - Its just the wife and I and 3 dogs, our bedroom and bathroom is a little wider than your coach, but only about 15ft long, so lack of space is not gonna kill us, we "lived" in that part of the house when the rest was being worked on... I see you took a Tour of that 20' Rockwood...and sounds like you still have your "Casita Egg" any BIG complaints on the "Egg"?
Excellent video, but I don’t understand how you make your bed with the dog kennel in the middle. Can you please post pictures. Thank you and stay safe,,,happy travels.
I just found your video and enjoyed it very much. I have a 2007 17' SD and have only had it out once. I am getting ready to take it out tomorrow for my first solo trip. Thank you for the idea of draping the shower curtain across the toilet area with command hooks. I tried a tension rod but the top and sides were sloping too much to make that work. I see you use scissor jacks for your jack stands. Have you ever considered mounting them to the frame? I have thought of doing that but didn't know if it were even possible. I am happy I found your channel and will check out your other videos.
I did think of mounting the jacks, but I decided that the trouble of cranking them all the way up each time would take longer. As it is now, I just crank them down enough to get them out from under the frame which makes for quicker set up at the next stop.
Yes... in our video list you will find a couple of repairs we had to make... a few rivets, the power center main unit, the jack handle, the water valve on the toilet, and the refrigerator. I would say routine stuff for an RV. We also made several improvements. For these items specifically, go to our playlist that includes all of these items: ruclips.net/video/E-z_fpaWUgY/видео.html
We would like to ask about the sliding table and dog carrier area. Did. you have this installed or are there instructions for constructing it? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
I don't have instructions, but basically it is a dog carrier with wood attached with bolts on the sides for the drawer slides to screw into and a plastic table top from Walmart/Sams Club with wood runners bolted to the bottom for the drawer slides to attach to.
Do you sleep on the benches without making them into a double bed? How wide are the benches in the Liberty and are they wide enough to be comfortable for you or would it be better to get the Independence model with the cramped space between the benches for eating?
They are very comfortable and plenty wide enough for us. The leg space between the benches is 28" (as shown in this trailer review). The width of the bench is 25". The Independence model benches are 31" wide, but the leg space between the benches is only 15". Take a look as well at the Independence trailer review where I discuss this space issue. Cindy's sister had the Independence model and the leg space was a major issue, but they enjoyed the wider beds. For us, the beds are just fine. You can also in our model leave a double bed made up and use the small dining table and have that space always set up... however, we found that to be limiting interior space too much for our liking.
You guys did a great job - gave us some really helpful ideas as we prepare to order our Liberty 17 Deluxe - looking forward to your video on the white vinyl "tubes" you have in the front and back Where did you get the bags or covers you use to fold your 4" toppers? Many thanks
I appreciate your engaging with us on our channel. Our video on the white tubes to store the sewage hoses is on our RUclips channel at ruclips.net/video/zpKj1RtfKWw/видео.html . In the morning, we roll the 4" toppers as tight as possible, with sheets still attached and then we turn them longways and slide them to the back and cover them with a lightweight blanket we got at Walmart for $3 bucks or so. They kind of just stay in place with the blanket over them. This leave us plenty of room to sit and even stretch out on the couches if watching TV or reading or just hanging out. Thank you again for the comments.
Yes I just found your video on sewage hoses - amazing work - I love how you HiDef the screws, washers so we would know exactly what to buy - I believe you can even read the SKUs and barcodes! Thank you from Matthew & Cheryl
Hi, beautiful camper. I noticed your tv is a Jeep. What’s the tow capacity of the Jeep? Do you need WDH? How about brake controller. Enjoy your traveling with your casita. Thanks for sharing.
The towing capacity is 6,500 Lbs GVW of the trailer and 650 Lbs. hitch weight. We don't need a WDH due to the Jeep having load balancing suspension, part of the factory installed tow package. When we hook up the trailer, the Jeep lowers about 2 inches and then when we take off, it levels itself out. We have the Prodigy P2 controller ( amzn.to/2BFgO8d ). Brake controllers are required in so many states and it is wise to have one. It works great.
Thanks for the reply. That sounds like the perfect towing vehicle for casita. If you don’t mind, what’s the model of the Jeep? I ordered a casita spirit dlx for August delivery. I have a Lexus RX 350 now, which is a little underpowered for 17’ casita. Right now I am not in position to exchange car. When time comes, I will definitely get a stronger vehicle even if I have to buy used. Casita sales rep recommended getting WDH for lexus. I still have to install towing hitch, brake controller and wire harness. Lots to do and lots to learn. But I get time and many good sources of information on the internet from people like you. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Hi Allen & Cindy - what did you use for your kitchen prep flip up shelf and how did you install it? Rivets or nuts & bolts Second - what are you using for the sink cover? Many thanks Cheryl Therrien
I will attempt to explain... I didn't make a video on that. I cut two 1x4s the width of the top of the kennel plus 4", where it is flat, one for the front and one for the back. I then cut two 2x2s that same length. You take a jigsaw and cut four 2 1/2" square openings in the side of the kennel who's top edge is flush with the top of the kennel and in the correct place to mount under the 1x4. The idea is the 1x4 is on top of the kennel, the 2x2 is under the top of the kennel both lines up and sticking out the same on each side. You then bolt the 1x4 to the 2x2 going through the kennel, 3 bolts. You then attach a 1x4 to the 1x4 & 2x2 sticking out the sides going the length of the kennel on each side. Mount them 1/4" higher than the top mounted 1x4. Now, cut two 1x4s and two 2x2s the same length as the previous 1x4s. Attach them together with the 2x2s at the top edge of the 1x4s. Now, you mount your cabinet slides on the 1x4s that are mounted to the kennel and mount the 1x4/2x2 assembly to the other side of the cabinet slides. Now, you take your table top and attach it to the two 2x2/1x4 assemblies. I will make a drawing and answer this reply with a link to it later.
I think so because of the lack of seams.. of course there are rivets, plumbing vents, bath vent fan, trailer vent fan and air conditioner that all go through the roof. All trailers have those items as well.
I am 5'8".... just enough room for me without hitting the bathroom vent handle with my head. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe for more RV Adventures.
I have questions: (1) Where did you get the shelf/table extension next to the sink? Did you install it and how is it attached? (2) How did you attach the paper towel holder and the coat rack on the door? Where is the closet electrical outlet for the microwave? Thanks!
The shelf/table extension was purchased online from Little House Customs. I attached it by drilling into the side and bolting it using short stainless machine screws with washers and locknuts. It is a little tight in there due to the sink and furnace, but it can be done. The paper towel holder is done the same way, drilled thru and bolted to the wall... washer and locknut are over the carpet lining the cabinet above the sink. The coat rack, you guessed it, I drilled holes and bolted it. I always use stainless machine bolts, washers, and locknuts. I installed a new electrical outlet inside of the vent hood housing myself (past electrical experience) using the circuit from the closest plug in the overhead above the bench by the sink. It is easy to pick up that circuit in the electric box in the overhead cabinet and run the wire around the outside wall under the carpet that pulls up easily. If you don't install a new outlet, you can run an extension cord (3') from that existing plug to power a microwave or other appliance sitting on the stove top.
This is a nice video of your Casita, I am wondering how easy it is to tow your trailer, how much does it weigh and what gas mileage do you get towing with your Grand Cherokee with V6 or V8. Thanks Greg
The Jeep tows it very easily with great power and acceleration even on grades in mountains. It weighs about 2,500 Lbs. empty, 365 Lbs. tongue weight. The Jeep has a V6 and we get 17-19 MPG depending on speed and grades... I usually hold it at 63 MPH on most freeways.
Hello! We just picked up our 2018 Casita Spirit Deluxe yesterday. We are wanting to do the mod you did in your bathroom. Are you using two shower curtains or one that has a hole in it for your bungee to go through with that mod? Thanks so much for showing details in your videos. We have enjoyed them.
Sorry for the delay... out on RV Adventures without a cell signal. We use one shower curtain with the hole next to the hinge side of the door for the bungee cords to go through. You have to experiment with the exact location of that as well as attachment points for the ends of the cords. The placement of the command hooks on the top is determined by the shower curtain holes. We have replaced our shower curtain twice and they are all the same on hole placement so the hooks it hangs on works fine. I use two bungee cords, one stretches across the doorway and the other stretches from the front trailer wall to the other wall and turns to the attachment point that is kind of beside the vent pipe. This is a lot of info... maybe I should do a video on this shower modification.
Scott B We actually used just ONE regular size shower curtain - one that you’d use on a standard tub. I just hung some command hooks along the ceiling from the end of the doorway and then over in front of the toilet. The command hooks that I found worked best were the little ones that had a metal hook on them. It is best to put up the hooks when it is not humid or damp in the shower. Also not good to put them up when it is really cold - they won’t stick well. What I did find was that water would leak into the bottom compartment under the sink. :’(. That said, when it warms up, I’m planning on putting ez rv gutter over the top part of that compartment in hopes that I can keep water from dripping down the front and right into the compartment.
Great job on your Casita! We have a 17' ID , and have not been happy with our dining table set up. Can you tell me about your table, it is what I have been looking for! Did you make it, or purchase? I would love to flatter by imitation!
The table top is a folding plastic table purchased at Wal-Mart. It is a Costco brand. They had a couple of sizes to pick from. I separated the two halves, took the legs off, attached some wood runners on the bottom and attached heavy duty drawer slides to those runners. I then attached wood runners to the sides of our dog crate for the slides to attach. The table meets our needs while still leaving a spot for Sunny.
RVadventures Thanks for the reply! I am definitely showing this one to my hubby, hopefully we can come close enough to do it justice! We even have a dog crate that we keep in that location. Just have to change things up a tad due to us having the ID. I'll be watching your chanel for more inspirations!
Eileen are you saying you have the Independence? What is your thoughts on the two layouts? We are trying to decide if we want to buy the Independence or the Liberty. The Liberty that Allen and Cindy have here seems like it is laid out similar to the Independence but has much more room in between the beds which seems like an advantage! But I am bigger than Allen so I am worried that sleeping room might be not enough. Thanks for your thoughts.
Anyone can answer this the Casita is right at my cars towing weight limit or actually a little above so I think I'll have to get something a little stronger. What are you pulling your Casita with?
I use a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is rated to pull up to 7,200 Lbs. with a hitch weight of 650# max. The Jeep does a great job of towing and the performance is great. When towing the Casita, I get about 17 MPG at 62-63 MPH and 20 MPG at 55 MPH. Thank you for the comment and question.
Great Video presentation on your 17' Casita Deluxe. Can you tell me if the total length is just for the trailer body itself or is that the length from the trailer ball coupler to the rear back end of the trailer ? Also, did you mention the model year of your Casita?I don't recall seeing or hearing that info. Thanks in advance for your reply(s).
The total length is from ball to bumper, which makes the body about 13 1/2 feet in length. The trailer was picked up in Jan. 2017 at the factory and I checked the plate on the frame and they tagged it as a 2016 model. The only change from 2016 to 2017 is that a few months after we picked ours up they started installing the slender vertical tail lights instead of a square one and they moved it higher up closer to the belly band. I am not sure if there is a consistent model year time frame or if it just happens.
Nice video. You have done a nice job on your Casita. We have an ID and I too am trying to figure out the small table situation and creative mods for it. Am curious, where do you plug your microwave in at? Am I missing a plug above the stove? We don’t have a microwave, but sure would like to plug our Instant Pot in the stove area. The cord will not reach over to the one above your add on counter space (we have one of those now too).
I put the plug in myself... I used to be an electrician among other things in my working life!!! We used to use a 3 foot heavy duty extension cord plugging into that plug you are talking about and ran it behind the sink faucet over to the stove area.... maybe that could work for you. I wired my new plug mounted in the back of the vent hood into that plug in the overhead. Thank you for asking. Have a great day.
We are searching for a Casita to take from our home in Alabama toTampa to be with our son that is recovering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. We need a small compact trailer. Can you suggest a place to start looking for a nice, used, clean, in good condition one? Thank you so much! MariKay
I have seen them for sale in "fiberglassrv.com" and "casitaforum.com" There are other groups on the Internet as well, search "Casita travel trailers" and you should find something. Good luck.
We currently don't have plans of tinting, but I think it might just be a good idea to keep out the sun's heat. I have noticed that most modern day RVs do have tinted windows from the manufacturer. Casita doesn't have that as an option. Maybe someone else out there could tell us if they have any opinions or if they have tinted theirs.
One or two could go in front of the Fantastic Fan to the front and one on each side of the Fantastic Fan with riser mounts from the lower fiberglass. I think 4 roof-mounted panels is all that can be done.
thank you both. a nice little video. i was thinking i would use the microwave space for a cabinet, for an alpicool fridge/freezer (which runs on dc power) to supplement the small fridge. and i'd use an induction cook top (double burner) in place of the stove, which saves on space, and diminishes propane use in the camper. why burn through propane faster than i have to?
It is for 3 seasons. The holding tanks and drain plumbing is all exposed under the bottom. The fresh water tank and lines are all inside. I have been out in 20-degree weather with no issues (I add a cup of RV antifreeze in the black and gray tanks) but that is pushing it. The 6-gallon hot water heater is automatic on temperature control, it is not on-demand. You can run it on propane or 120 volts, both sources have on/off switches and both can be run at the same time for quicker hot water recovery if needed. Thank you for the compliment.
The v-loggers have clarified, below, that they don't keep the dog in the kennel in the trailer while hauling the trailer. While hauling, the dog is in the kennel but that is with them in their SUV - so that's okay by me and I retract my admonition on that basis. Since the kennel is in the car with them, the dog can let them know, or they can ascertain, if there is a problem. My concern was that if the kennel was kept in the trailer while it was being hauled down the road - since that is not happening, I retract my admonition.
Ros, Casita doesn't offer the shelf as an option. We purchased ours from Little House Customs. It is in their store under General category. Thanks for watching. littlehousecustoms.com/store.html#gen
Noisy fan & I tried picturing myself towing a mini box trailer around then having to detach it at times I am leaning more towards a mini motor home nothing to lug around & less to worry bout but to each their own whatever works for folks.
Old Timer only drawback is your Motorhome becomes your primary vehicle at all times unless you tow a another vehicle. Motorhomes are nice if you never leave the campgrounds. Just my opinion on issues we have had with ours. Happy camping
Most folks that own a Casita, have already been through travel trailers and motorhomes. Casita's can fit where bigger can't and have everything the big rigs have. Another big plus is they hold their value. Stickbuilt travel trailers and motorhomes do not. The Casita setup and breakdown is not a big deal. I am on my second one, travel alone and have no issues towing, etc.
There is a major difference between the 16 ft. And the 17 foot the 17 ft obviously is king. A bathroom a heater air condition a must You two really have it together Good luck

Wow! The way you manage the shower curtain is absolute genius! I love it! We just ordered our casita. I can’t get enough of these kind of videos.
Love the shower curtain idea !
Thank you for the the lovely tour of your 17ft. Casita trailer. I think the the way you
created the shower curtain control was ingenious.
Oh thank you!
Many useful modifications; I especially like the mods with your shower curtain.
Thank you!
Great tour by two endearing people.
This, for me, is probably the most thorough and enjoyable video tour of a Casita I have seen. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the comments and watching the channel.
Do you sleep on beds as twins ot as ones. My wife thought the twins were kind of narrow when we looked a t factory.

Good idea, the hanging shoe pockets for rolled up clothes!
That is all Cindy, I would not have thought of that; it works great. Thank you for commenting.

I like all floor plans that Casita has to offer. But the liberty is my favorite. Can you get one with just a two burner cook top instead of three? Like they used to have in the older models. Very nice presentation.
I haven't seen that in the options list. You could call Casita, ask for Carla and she can answer that.

Nice for you.....I would need slightly different set up.
A blog was mentioned, could you give the link to that blog?

You guys did a great job - gave us some really helpful ideas as we prepare to order our Liberty 17 Deluxe - looking forward to your video on the white vinyl "tubes" you have in the front and back
Where did you get the bags or covers you use to fold your 4" toppers?
Thank you once again for the comments... I look forward to continuing to provide some good videos for your enjoyment.
What kind of vehicle you used to pull the Casita. Do you think 2016 Toyota Tacoma 6 cylinder will be okay to pull it
A Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is a V6 and does a great job. The Tacoma should be OK, but check your ratings on it to make sure.
Rivets or nuts & bolts
Second - what are you using for the sink cover? Many thanks Cheryl Therrien
Devel Team Hi. We purchased the shelf from Little House Customs on the web. I used bolts to attach. The sink cover was ordered from Camping World.
RV Adventures Thank you again
That small pop-up counter on the side of the sink is a great idea. Is that something you added? Or is it standard with the Liberty?
We added that. Casita doesn't offer it. Check it out here: amzn.to/2xKI43I
@@RVAdventuresTV Thank you! Very helpful!
We’ll get our 17’ LD in October! I love the kennel mounted table. Where can I find how to do that?
RV Adventures thank you so much!
Are the egg shell type campers less likely to leak
I think so because of the lack of seams.. of course there are rivets, plumbing vents, bath vent fan, trailer vent fan and air conditioner that all go through the roof. All trailers have those items as well.
Nice tour. Thanks. How tall are you Allen, so I can get some idea of how tall the bathroom is?
RV Adventures Thank you for that quick response! I really appreciate it.
I usually hold it at 63 MPH on most freeways.
allen how tall are you? i want to make sure i wont be hitting my head on the ceiling. thanks.
I am 5' 8".
Have you done much winter camping in your Casita?
What is your white tow vehicle and the size of the engine?
Jeep Grand Cherokee, V6 3.6L
That would be very helpful and much appreciated by any here having purchased a Casita already or contemplating buying one.Thanks.
Here are a few picks of the wood and slides attachments under the table and to the dog crate. photos.app.goo.gl/Ftw0FNek4VCChLiW2
@@mikepatterson, that raises a good question -- what is the difference in floor space between the beds in the Liberty vs the Independence.
I pull with a Nissan Pathfinder...tow pkg..
How big of a bed does your dinnette make? Thank you!
It starts as a double and more platforms and cushion arrangements take it to king if desired. All you need is standard with the Casita.
Why did you guys choose a Casita and why the liberty model? Love your videos.
Lightweight, aerodynamic & single bed benches on the sides.
The plug/outlet for the microwave is already built in the cabinet above the fridge. It also has the vents in there.
how do you set up your bed???????????????
The two side benches make great single sized beds... we put 4" memory foam toppers on it.
Good luck.
Thank you!!
Are you going to tint your windows?
We currently don't have plans of tinting, but I think it might just be a good idea to keep out the sun's heat. I have noticed that most modern day RVs do have tinted windows from the manufacturer. Casita doesn't have that as an option. Maybe someone else out there could tell us if they have any opinions or if they have tinted theirs.
RV Adventures. T.W.W tinted his Casita and can look at his RUclips.
Thanks for the info... I will take a look.
I was just wondering how wide your bed is? the Independence is 30 1/2 inches
With the foam toppers we get 25".
@@RVAdventuresTV thanks great video presentation
Where would you put solar panels?
One or two could go in front of the Fantastic Fan to the front and one on each side of the Fantastic Fan with riser mounts from the lower fiberglass. I think 4 roof-mounted panels is all that can be done.
@@RVAdventuresTV ok thank you
thank you both. a nice little video. i was thinking i would use the microwave space for a cabinet, for an alpicool fridge/freezer (which runs on dc power) to supplement the small fridge. and i'd use an induction cook top (double burner) in place of the stove, which saves on space, and diminishes propane use in the camper. why burn through propane faster than i have to?
True... Great ideas and thank you for the comments.
Is your casita 3 seasons or four seasons. Also do you have automatic hot water? Good videos.
Did Casita or you install table?
Thanks Frank.
What is a good suv towable camper for two non couple 5'9ish tall humans and a pomeranian?
We have enjoyed our Casita very much and it is all we need.
What year is it?
Picked it up January 2017 at the factory.
What year is your Casita?
We picked it up end of January 2017 from the factory. No one has ever asked, so I guess it is a 2017.
What's the price?
Currently starts at around $32,000.
👍👍😊
What is the price on a model like this?
$17,000 - $20,000 depending on options from the factory.
Did you order it with the side-of-sink extension?
Ros, Casita doesn't offer the shelf as an option. We purchased ours from Little House Customs. It is in their store under General category. Thanks for watching. littlehousecustoms.com/store.html#gen
Since the frig, pantry and closet etc are all empty I am assuming you are not full timers. Most of the Casita videos I have seen are full timers.
That is correct, we are not full timers.... about half time. We like having a home base.
You think I can tow this with my motorcycle?
Sure!!!!
Cost?
19-22K depending on options
There is a major difference between the 16 ft. And the 17 foot the 17 ft obviously is king.
A bathroom a heater air condition a must
You two really have it together
Good luck
Thank you for your comments
Sure doesnt look like you have much room to move around in that small box?
Big enough for us... we like it cozy!
Great looking, but I want 2 axles.
@TOM ARCHER mind your biz!
@TOM ARCHER dude r u always in a good mood.
NO...SOLAR System at ALL ??
I don't have solar on mine but the new Casita's now come with an outlet on the outside to plug panels into.
we finally get to see your bride. like the fantastic oops.
