i've been sewing since i was a kid, but honestly it's really hard if you haven't been taught. Also any sewing machine you can pick up with one hand is going to be pretty crap. Singer, Brother and Husqavarna are all good brands. Usually a good sewing machine is going to run you at least a few hundred bucks.
Also making a whole outfit in a day would be a challenge for even a skilled sewer.
Honestly from my perspective, you did really really well. I'm impressed you got that much done given that sewing machine and that you had no knowledge of how to sew.

Agree! If I hadn't sewn before I'd feel accomplished just learning the basics of the machine in one day.
My machine is a Pfaff ambition 155. It's a pretty good everything machine. Easy to use for an amateur such as myself. ^^
Yes! He did do well. I couldn’t tell if that thing had a bobbin but if it did that was probably a lot of the issue. Also, when he started the pants, I had a flashback nightmare to my first time making pants and freaked out.

In high school I sewed a hoodie. It took me like a week, but it turned out really well. It doesn't fit me anymore, but I actually did a really good job sewing it.
How did it go so wrong so fast? You started so strong with a single sock, and ended with a duct tape beanie... I though practice was supposed to _improve_ the results, not _impair_ them.

Besides learning to sew with a machine and by hand -- learning how to use a pattern to cut your clothing pieces is really important. Back in the 1970's, with my late dad's inheritance I bought a good sewing machine, then took a university sewing course to learn how to sew with it. My sewing projects turned out well, although I must admit I tackled easy projects, and worked my way up to more complex ones, over the years. Good content! ❤ And I would love to see you take some sewing lessons, in earnest, to improve your skill set. I know you can do it! 😊❤

You are supposed to make a loop with the fabric and put the elastic inside it. Not sew it directly. Otherwise there is no point for the elastic since........ um........ it doesn’t stretch
Actually you can attach it, you just have to stretch it a certain way as you sew it on. It can be done both ways.
