It's great to see my childhood hometown once again as I remember it. Loved the noisy trams and the Zypher steamboat to Garden Island (Rotto journey was undertaken by others in 1952). So glad Perth is still much the same these days, except for a few minor changes.😊😊😊
Trying to figure out the year this film was made - 1934-35? Lots of 1920's vehicles, but also a few from 1933-34. The Great Depression (1929-33) must have been over. Still using some horses on the farms, although the crawler tractors are fairly new. A shame that so many of Perth classic buildings have been flattened by greedy developers and huge corporations. The most interesting part of the footage? - there are no overweight or grossly obese people in the frames! People did substantial hard physical work, every day, in this era. There are no gyms! A lot of people didn't own any vehicle at all, they just walked everywhere, or rode a bicycle. We are a soft society today.
What has happened to our heritage building The past is lost when you knock them down for progress. THINK hard and long before bowling over buildings etc. Caroline
Aboriginals? For the White People (including the makers of this film) they didn't exist. Hence the reason they haven't been included in this documentary.
@@eduardobraivein8496 the film is a 1936 British Colonies document about White Civilisation not featuring Aboriginals. There are other Archival films covering Aboriginals. In the country areas we went to school with Aboriginals and they were decent people at that time. Today all of society has a different outlook. Alcohol is the problem, particularly in the Cities. Then Petrol sniffing and heavy drugs,,,,

@I love Hunting I hope you don't live in a house. It would be terrible to appear the hypocrite.

As far as the people of that time, they didn't exist or out of sight, out of mind ....
Seems to be solid middle class ..no working class riff raff or natives were filmed.
Sad really.
