    Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

      In hindsight, I whole heartedly agree. I recently re-watched the series on Hulu and it honestly didn't deserve the poor criticism it received during it's original run. As I recall, it was the turn of the century and television trends were shifting into the darker, grittier sort like the Battlestar Galactica remake. Enterprise maintained the optimistic, adventurous, traditional formula of Trek and many critics at the time considered the Trek formula "dated" and "tired."
      Ironically, when Alex Kurtzman revived Star Trek with Discovery and reimagined it in the dark, gritty format of BG, it was poorly received by audiences. At the same time, Seth MacFarlane's series The Orville returned to the traditional format of TOS, TNG, Voyager, & Enterprise and is now widely regarded as the true successor series to Enterprise. As it turns out, the Trek formula wasn't "dated" or "tired" after all -- 53 years after TOS came on the air, audiences still prefer it to the dystopian hell depicted in Kurtzman Trek.

    They could totally do a sequel series to Quantum Leap. Have some discover Sam's research and machine and figure out how to tether themselves to the present so they can do controlled leaps and have them go on a mission to find Sam since he never made it home. No need to do a big series, just make it 10-episode miniseries. Have them find Sam in the finale, living in the 1970's or something. Have him be a broken shell of a man, having stopped leaping because he gave up after Al stopped appearing and stayed in whatever body he's in, living that life. Realising he can now go home and regretting not changing the life of the person he's inhabiting, he makes one last jump back in time in the same body to fix it and then finally leaps home, his mission complete. He finds that he's old, that Al had passed away but he has new purpose, helping the new guy on his missions to change lives for the better, which could set up a longer series or just be an ending to Sam's story.

    • @Thingfishy
      @Thingfishy 7 лет назад +2

      Unfortunately, they can't, because at the end of the series of Quantum Leap the caption says that Dr. Sam Beckett never made it home :) Got to stay true to the original :)

      Thingfishy The thing about time travel is never say never. Just because he didn't make it home in his lifetime, there's no reason why someone (after he has died) can't go back and help save him and bring him home.

    • @Doodlebugdude
      @Doodlebugdude 6 лет назад +1

      Thingfishy It's a show about going back in time to fix the past ya dummy.

    • @SciFiFan2012
      @SciFiFan2012 6 лет назад +4

      Thingfishy Sam never makes it home sounds like he died, yet through time travel, he can be brought back to the present to live out his life, however long it might be. Al marries his wife after Vietnam and they have kids, so no reason why an older Al couldn't become the head of the QL program, and his son/daughter become the new observer using the sample of Sam's masons and neurons. Or with an episode that implied Sam had a daughter he did not know while leaping, she could be leaping, searching for her dad. They could use the original history and compare it to changed history to track Sam down similar to how Al had to go thru Sam's life day by day to possibly find him once.
      The project could be closed since Sam's last leap was said to continue indefinitely (never returning home), and years later Al, his kids, Sam's daughter find temporal clues leading them to believe he's alive but can't get home...they have to restart the QL program without or without funding to try to get him home using a newer version of Ziggy as well...maybe Sam's brain is swiss cheesed as it was in "Shock Theater" where he jumps from his earlier leaps into others at random. Imagine Sam as broken as he was in the episode, but with 20-30 years more of leaping, he would be batsh** crazy!

However, I was very disappointed when they cancelled Enterprise because I felt they didn't give it a fair chance to find a big fan base to keep the series going. Anyone know the name of the song the band was playing as Scott made his entrance? For some reason, I thought it was theme of the 70s sitcom, "Good Times."
