Get the Bridge deck windows tinted and the fronts tinted down to just above your line of sight …. You’ll love it ! Go as dark as you can stand it. Mine is at 80% . My Buddies Horizon was done with 90% above sight line and 60% in sight line …. Plus the anti-UV will save the accoutrements of the interior 😂😂

Great idea! I’ll look into it. I’ve already put a thin layer on the entire front but I’ll probably add the 80percent above the sight line. Thanks for watching.

Glad you're having fun. Enjoyed the video. Hope you will have the time and inclination to do a thorough exploration of the Bahamas. The Bahamas rivals and in many ways exceeds the BVI's. There are many more uncrowded cays and islands, the water is unbelievably clear, and it has many, many more places to explore and cruise in. The Abacos, the Exumas, the Berry Islands, Eleuthera, Nassau, and outer islands like Long Island and Cat Island offer months of interesting cruising.

    • @christopheripad477

I hear what you’re saying and I have indeed done some serious thinking about this but my life just doesn’t work with the difficulties of provisioning, tides and the weather changes that occur in the Bahamas. We, as a couple, also don’t cruise for months at a time…which is kind of necessary in the Bahamas to reach and stay in these lovely areas you speak of. As a cruising ground, the BVI is just better suited for our lifestyle and marriage. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching!

Washing your boat yourself will help you see things that need attention. Like fasteners coming loose, checking your lines for chaffing. Etc. Etc. This will help you notice items that need to be address. But what I have seen of you Captain you keep on top of things. Good for you!!!! Matt from NE

Sorry for the loss of your beautiful boat. Hoping in time you’ll be able to do more of your videos because I find them a lot of fun and very interesting. I would say that you might not want to focus on the BVI’s anymore. My wife and I cruised the BVI for many years. Long before there were traffic jams in Tortola. Regrettably, and I don’t disrespect anybody who wants to make an honest living, the introduction of catamarans mooring balls. GPS and power cats have made it possible for a lot of people who lack adequate experience to be able to charter a large yachts. Good for the merchants. Not so good for the BVI‘s. We started cruising down island like Saint Martin and the Grenadines. Belize. And it’s a bit tougher cruising but still a lot of fun. You might look into some of these cruising areas.

Airline pilots use that windshield visor with suction cups in the airliners as they fly west as the sun goes down. They used to use newspapers, what a mess, haha!

  • @DonClifford

Great looking boat! We had a 44 Aquila until recently. We found an easy way to take care of the sunshine coming in on the Fly Bridge. We bought what appears to be the same material you are using for you suction cup application but in larger sheets. They can be cut to match each window and then the sailmaker sewed velcro on the edges. They then added some velcro strips around the glass and the issue was solved. They can be folded so when the sun is high you use less and when the sun is lower you can unfold and use more. They roll up or fold up and take very little space. You cannot see the velcro when the sunscreen is not in place so that was a positive as well.

You mentioned you use green cord for the markings on the chain. Did you just use the same green for all the markings or did you use different colors so you could tell easier how much chain you have put out? If it is all green, it is easy to forget if that is the first green marker or the third.

Seeing you on your journey with your new boat it makes my heart melding. It shows what hard work can give you back for hopefully many years of joy with your beloved ones. My family had a 37 Chris*Craft and I was more or less to use and spend all summer holidays in Italy, close to Venice and exploring the areas around there, but after 14 years of ( my joy, cause I didt pay the cost 😀, just for the diesel ) joy, we sold it because all of our workload comes too much. I never went for many years on a boat again, even visiting sometimes friends in the marina we stayed, but never step on one again ( it was self protection ), my life brought me to work and live in Hongkong, and after one close friend invited me to his sailing catermaran and another one a few times on his 70' feet speedboat and celebrated my 50'birthday in his yacht club and on his boat, the virus catched me back and I bought a Chinese 45' junk to explore the waters and islands of Hongkong ( what a great experience it was ). Now retired, living in Bali and dreaming again of boating and thinking to buy a phinishi of around 30m, not to rent it out, but to explore the many beautiful islands of Indonesia. 67 now, dreaming of new challenges and take the changes. All the very best, lots of joy, slow down from work a bit if you can ( an older guy like me can tell you 😀 ) and start enjoying life more - as long as you can

One thing about marking your anchor chain, you should try different colors for the different lengths that way you don't have to count each time you see the line, you will know the length of road you have out by the color.

There is just something about actually being at sea. Have fun in the BVI. I'll perhaps see you there, or certainly, see Wandering Hillbilly at the docks sometime. Enjoy. Ciao.

    • @thewanderinghillbilly

YES! I wanted a vessel I could control by myself. the 70 requires crew. No doubt about it. Full time crew. I'm almost to the point where I need full time crew on this 54...it's a lot to deal with. So it's next level with the 70. Hope that answers your queston. It's a next level commitment.

I really do think this sets me apart from a lot of folks... all I can say is that it's 30 years of hanging out with amazing DP's, Camera experts, and editing geniuses that have taught me how to make something like a GOPRO look like a film camera. This entire video was shot on a GOPRO 10. Cut with Final Cut Pro....but I've put a special blend of COLOR, LUT, FRAME RATE and VIGNETTE on the edit to make it pop like you see. It's my own blend.
