  • From Godzilla to that Ghosterbusters Guy's kid, massive monsters and giant creatures in movies are a spectacle to behold. And in D&D, they can be just as awe inspiring. In this video, we look at a few particularly weird and interesting monsters in Dungeons and Dragons to explore a variety of ways you could include giant monsters in your tabletop game.

A simple trick you can use to catch new and experienced players off guard is to flip the Rhemoraz’s terrain and heated body effect. After days of Going through the hot desert players see an oasis, caused by shards of ice chunks embedded into the sand making a small natural biome. When they go to rest the rhemoraz use their (now cold body instead of hot) domain to swarm the adventurers in an oasis trap, both a simple biproduct of their anatomy and a niche to keep life stirring so deep in the dunes

I have a dragon similar to Zaratani! Like a Zaratan he's huge and often mistaken for a mountain. He has trees and such on his back and everything! He's not dangerous, though I do really want to imagine a party discovering him while camping on a mountainside and he decides he's hungry and wakes up lol.
He's based off of a dragon in a book I read a long time ago, the main character learned a mountain was a dragon and ended up befriending him

@@vX-ter_ I do not, and I am sad about it. Considering my weird childhood (grew up with a lot of movies and books that pretty much no one else has heard of) it'd probably be hard to find too (trust me I'm already wondering if I dreamed it). I don't even remember if the dragon had a name in the book... (I name my version Yggdrasill: Iggy for short)

I did a giant monster fight as a final boss once. The party found and started ganging up on the cultist leader. The Artificer could tell things were going too well and used her True Sight goggles. She got nothing on the cultist, who was just actually getting his shit rocked faster than planned, but began screaming and aiming their attacks at the cliff behind the cultist. See, it wasn't a cliff. It was a *chin*. They got two full turns to run away on horseback as it pried itself out of the ground, and it took one turn of movement to enter melee range. That fight lasted like two hours irl and involved almost every combat ready NPC the PCs could think to call for help. Went full Breath of the Wild Divine Beast attack on it, power of friendship and conquest XD

I want to make a Fear Imp. Has the strange Aura of Fear, and appears as the greatest fear of the individual who fails the check, but doesn't do any damage, still causes the Frightened condition, unless they are immune to Fear Effects obviously.
But seems like a fun power, just would like to use it on a lower level party.

Wait. Balhannoths can't transmute materials into other materials. It's also can't affect magical stuff. Adamantine is magical. So no adamantine room unless there's an adamantine box already there to warp mundane materials around.
Otherwise, great video! Love the monsters, and instantly sympathize with the Gargantua.

I'd like to do kaijus, the house is a mimic, sea monsters, shadow of the colossus-scaled battles, etc. but I don't wanna come off as a "dare you enter my magical realm?" DM :/

Bahlha'noth seems a fun one but how do you get past "The Sans"/"The Davis Motomiya" styled player? Sans you might get but me le tme try and summarize one of the greatest and most unappreciated moments in all of Digimon Adventure as a whole" Davis is not bright, he us brash and doesn't pick on hints, very often barely manages to utilize his team right half the time and almost getting his best friend killed just to compete with the previous "Red Ranger" of the first team. Not the best leader some would say but he has a few moments where he proves them wrong and non more awesome than when the big bad from Season 1 shows up in extra dimensional plane and is able to manipulate it to make anyone's desires a reality and pacifies most of the team except Davis who is like "I don't really have any desires! I'm happy with life as is" which is how he goes from the guy nobody thought could be a leader to the person who reverses the big bad's grip on this dimension and uses it against him defeating him in spectacular style.
While I love Davis this can destroy a planned campaign if they suddenly point out something you overlooked on their character sheet such as "had a happy childhood and no dead parents" and now your psychic influence using their unfilled desires falls flat on it's face. This has happened a few times with Djinn most commonly as at least one player will not play ball. So how do I get them into the trap?
