- From Godzilla to that Ghosterbusters Guy's kid, massive monsters and giant creatures in movies are a spectacle to behold. And in D&D, they can be just as awe inspiring. In this video, we look at a few particularly weird and interesting monsters in Dungeons and Dragons to explore a variety of ways you could include giant monsters in your tabletop game.

SO should the next theme be?
Making politicians into d and d characters
How to make fey monster encounters actually tricky
I was really touched by the giant's story. Can you, please, do more misunderstood/rp-solvable monsters
@@Random-ps4dl No please no. I play dnd to get away from the social media brain poison and politics 😭

Nows not the time to have a heart
Every single part of this was perfection
Pshhh too kind
alright, that gargantua is going STRAIGHT into my game.
SAME
*big oaf voice, also British for some reason* "Oh, I'm soary, I didn't mean anyting by it :( I'm so lonely, will you be my friend?"
Not me getting **goosebumps** at the end of this video 😭😭😭
So good!
I love the Zaratans vibe, just a big chunky turtle doing big chunky turtle things.
He's just a little guy! Except very big. He's just a very big little guy!
A simple trick you can use to catch new and experienced players off guard is to flip the Rhemoraz’s terrain and heated body effect. After days of Going through the hot desert players see an oasis, caused by shards of ice chunks embedded into the sand making a small natural biome. When they go to rest the rhemoraz use their (now cold body instead of hot) domain to swarm the adventurers in an oasis trap, both a simple biproduct of their anatomy and a niche to keep life stirring so deep in the dunes
Okay, so I came for more Epic Monsters!!! And then the last monster gut-punched me so hard, my head hurts. :_(
Is any of this worth doing if we don’t throw in surprise emotions every now and then?
@@Cinderblocksally I mean, if you have to be all *reasonable* about it, I *guess* I will continue to watch all of your videos and shorts and streams. :D
Look at that dude, he's pretty
Lord Cinder? I agree.
I like this influx of long form content
I have a dragon similar to Zaratani! Like a Zaratan he's huge and often mistaken for a mountain. He has trees and such on his back and everything! He's not dangerous, though I do really want to imagine a party discovering him while camping on a mountainside and he decides he's hungry and wakes up lol.
He's based off of a dragon in a book I read a long time ago, the main character learned a mountain was a dragon and ended up befriending him
Do you remember what that book was called cuz that sounds awesome
@@vX-ter_ I do not, and I am sad about it. Considering my weird childhood (grew up with a lot of movies and books that pretty much no one else has heard of) it'd probably be hard to find too (trust me I'm already wondering if I dreamed it). I don't even remember if the dragon had a name in the book... (I name my version Yggdrasill: Iggy for short)
IT’s unexplainable how much i love this man
Love your work, but just a grammar note that grates on me. Siege is a noun. Besiege is the verb, alternately "lay siege to". Maybe that's pointless and pedantic, but thought I'd point it out.
Even gods can bleed
oo i already deeply love that gargantua. touches on some of my favourite themes :)
Nice Cinder! Got me all choked up at the end!
how tf did you end up making me emotional by the end with those thoughtful af parting thoughts? Damn near made me tear up, CindaBallSalty

Love your content. Really opened up my imagination for running campaigns.
I point at the window. You open it and break into the toy store.
I did a giant monster fight as a final boss once. The party found and started ganging up on the cultist leader. The Artificer could tell things were going too well and used her True Sight goggles. She got nothing on the cultist, who was just actually getting his shit rocked faster than planned, but began screaming and aiming their attacks at the cliff behind the cultist. See, it wasn't a cliff. It was a *chin*. They got two full turns to run away on horseback as it pried itself out of the ground, and it took one turn of movement to enter melee range. That fight lasted like two hours irl and involved almost every combat ready NPC the PCs could think to call for help. Went full Breath of the Wild Divine Beast attack on it, power of friendship and conquest XD
I want to make a Fear Imp. Has the strange Aura of Fear, and appears as the greatest fear of the individual who fails the check, but doesn't do any damage, still causes the Frightened condition, unless they are immune to Fear Effects obviously.
But seems like a fun power, just would like to use it on a lower level party.
I've wanted to run an adventure where lvl 5ish characters are given charms a blessing or something else that prevents all Necrotic damage.
Then stop a Giant Nightwalker that's on its way to a village, and/or city.
Great work buddy.
I love this long form content from you! Keep it up!
wake up babe cinder dropped a long form!!
Great video, I've been a big fan of using massive monsters in my games for a long time so this really hit home
Loved the ideas and the art! The video didn’t really help me understand how to run these encounters, though, like mechanically. Thats where I struggle most.
Wait. Balhannoths can't transmute materials into other materials. It's also can't affect magical stuff. Adamantine is magical. So no adamantine room unless there's an adamantine box already there to warp mundane materials around.
Otherwise, great video! Love the monsters, and instantly sympathize with the Gargantua.
loved this video, great job, sir :)
This is awesome
Please please please make more of these videos! ❤
Amazing final!
Ey yo was that a Vigilante 8 clip used for the zaratan's earthquake?
Nice.
good catch
this was an epic video
Clean AF sir.
The Zaratan is a pretty cool turt, yo
I once read a comment on reddit in which someone turned the zaratan into a dungeon. The party had to make their way though the zaratan to the heart and the brain to slowly kill the creature from the inside. I hope to be able to run that one day.
I'm not using gargantuan minis for bosses. They have to roleplay how they reach the weak points and eventually kill it
Shadow of the Colossus style, babyyyyyy
Hey CinderBlockSally, I hope you're doing well. I just did an interview with Pointy Hat, and I was wondering if you'd be available to do one as well?
adorei o vídeo
Gold cinder!!
Gimme them sound effects ❤
Spared no expense
I don't wanna be weird but what if I like cool concepts and ideas such as what this video offers, but sometime those cool concepts overlaps with kinks, and then I end up conflicted. I'd like to do kaijus, the house is a mimic, sea monsters, shadow of the colossus-scaled battles, etc. but I don't wanna come off as a "dare you enter my magical realm?" DM :/
Moar little monsters plz.
Hey cool floating head guy, what do you think about a warlock that makes a pact with a Gargantua and who would you build that character
3:01 WE HAPPY FEW MENTIONED 🗣️ 🗣️ 💊 WTF IS A BUG FREE GAM?
Personally too big for me. I prefer an average size
Many say that. But if you're careful and gentle, I bet you can enjoy the larger ones as well.
Why is that mountain getting bigger?
yes yes that’s cool and all but. WHAT STATS DOES THAT SWORD HAVE I MUST KNOW.
also scream needle but I ain’t getting that after she ATE IT.
Let them fight
Bahlha'noth seems a fun one but how do you get past "The Sans"/"The Davis Motomiya" styled player? Sans you might get but me le tme try and summarize one of the greatest and most unappreciated moments in all of Digimon Adventure as a whole" Davis is not bright, he us brash and doesn't pick on hints, very often barely manages to utilize his team right half the time and almost getting his best friend killed just to compete with the previous "Red Ranger" of the first team. Not the best leader some would say but he has a few moments where he proves them wrong and non more awesome than when the big bad from Season 1 shows up in extra dimensional plane and is able to manipulate it to make anyone's desires a reality and pacifies most of the team except Davis who is like "I don't really have any desires! I'm happy with life as is" which is how he goes from the guy nobody thought could be a leader to the person who reverses the big bad's grip on this dimension and uses it against him defeating him in spectacular style.
While I love Davis this can destroy a planned campaign if they suddenly point out something you overlooked on their character sheet such as "had a happy childhood and no dead parents" and now your psychic influence using their unfilled desires falls flat on it's face. This has happened a few times with Djinn most commonly as at least one player will not play ball. So how do I get them into the trap?
does anyone have an inspiring idea on how to do a setting around the Zaratan? I dont want to copy ideas ^^; just gather some information on how to deal with it :>
How do I get my players to take more creative actions? My party is full of experienced players, but they pretty much never surprise me. They always debate their way to the most conservative choice they can identify. How do I encourage them to take more risks?
Insurmountable vs surmountable not mountable. Do not mount the giant monsters.
It's cause the people like whales
