Loving my Go 10.3! My journey to replace paper over the last 4 years or so was..... iPad Pro 12.9 (too big, writing horrible even with a paperlike screen protector) -> Boox Nova Air 2 (just a smidge to small for taking lots of notes in a meeting) -> Kindle Scribe (perfect size, great feel but to locked down when I want to share things) -> Boox Go 10.3 (the perfect mix of size, feel and flexibility)
So my current set up is iPad for video/surfing, Nova Air 2 for reading and *some* note taking and the Go 10.3 as a work device for notes. The ability to share specific pages, automatically back up a pdf version of notes to gdrive every time I exit and the awesome feel makes it perfect and the lack of front light is not an issue.
The Go is my go-to after multiple attempts to find the right tablet. The insert feature w/timestamps, audio recording and playback is great for taking minutes. 7” readers still better for reading in bed, so the missing front light is a non-issue. Video & games too distracting on the NA3C, pen feel & battery not as good. Kindle, RM2 and Ratta ecosystems too restrictive. Done!
Good advice for anyone still in the analysis paralysis state!
@@craigshandworld the Go 10.3 is Boox bid to compete with Supernote and reMarkable. In order to achieve the ultimate in contrast, writing feel, etc., it has no front light.
@@craigshandworldWake up, this video is not about Nova C😂 Are you sure you commented the right video? 😅
I am really happy with it. The lack of front light is a non issue for me and I found it pretty straightforward and easy to use.
I just picked up the Go 10.3 join my Supernote A5X. I love the A5X as it's simply the best I've found for taking "real notes." However, it is too limited to be a good companion outside work settings. I own a loaded iPad, but it isn't fun to write on and is, frankly, too distracting sometimes. I don't need a backlight or color, so the Go 10.3 seemed an excellent choice. I did not buy the folio cover, though. I'll use the sleeve from my Supernote and take a folding device stand. I've created my own PDF template for a notebook that really forms the heart of my usage outside of work settings. I don't know why I never did that for the Supernote, but there you go. The only other thing I need to load before I head out is a baseball scoring PDF to use as a template. Thanks so much for all your tips and tricks, thorough reviews, and general good humor.
I just need a front light or I'd be sold
I bought the boox 10.3 go for myself on your recommendation - and the boox air 3c for my daughter who's in first year university - she uses a color system so that was a no brainer for her - both arrived yesterday and they really look very good - I like the bright screen of the go, she doesn't mind the darker screen. Case is fine for me - pen sticks with the case pretty well. There is one thing though as an inexperienced user, I will be missing out lots of possibilities - yes, the manual is there but it reads as a list of options more than as a manual. I would actually pay for a video course where someone with your experience takes us through this device step by step (boox for dummies). Or a video if that saves time. Even boox neo reader is not so easy to use, with sync, notes (my friend's remarkable 2 allows you to make notes at the sides - guess the 10.3 go should have the same function) but... where do I start? Anyways, thank you for your work and guidance so far!
Kind thanks for the thanks!
Here's the two tutorial videos I have made which are probably a good place to start:

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll either answer if I can or try and include it in upcoming live/video on demand content. 🙂
My decision paralysis will be solved when there's a 10" 300 ppi B&W device (or a color device that magically looks as clear and sharp as the b&w ones), with BSR and the option to disable it on a per-app basis for battery saving.
I just can't go back to the choppiness of pre-BSR devices in regular Android apps.
And the color devices just aren't great for clarity. Too many Android apps use color in their UIs, meaning they render that text and those icons at lower resolution. Plus of course there's the extra layer darkening the screen. A software update that lets color devices optionally render in true monochrome, again on a per-app basis, would solve some of that.
@@LouisHochmanTheJourno that can’t happen without a total redesign of the screen hardware. You can’t eliminate that ugly extra layer of LCD’s under the glass by “disabling” it in software…
@@steverolfeca You can't get rid of the darkening caused by the extra layer with a software change. But software could have an option to render color content as b&w, which would mean eliminating situations where color text and icons are rendered at 150 PPI instead of 300. That would be a helpful option, but wouldn't solve the basic shortcomings of the technology.
8:20 use the fap magnet on the bottom instead to stop the tablet slipping further?
Yeah, I'm going for it right now. I'll try my luck with a cheap universal tab case that has robust stand features.
Use the flap as a ‘stopper’ on the lower cover that’s flat on the table.
Shall I wait for Supernote A5X2 or go with 10.3 for note taking and reading PDF and kindle. Appreciate your advise.
got the same question, one thing i was considering tho is the A5X2 is probably gonna be $500 while box like 400
We're on the same boat lol
The only tangible differences maybe will be better palm recognition and reduced lag thanks to the carta 1300?
Hello.. Often when buying any electronic device, the reaction is either fascination with the device or disappointment, then this view changes after a period of use and exploration. Can you tell us about the difference between your first look on the device and your current freshness?
Thank you for this very helpful review! Just a question : how good does connecting a bluetooth keyboard work to this device? I connected a Logitech Keyx MX Mini to the Note Air 3 and it was horrible. The lag was just unusable....Is it the same here?
Hi, if I’m buying my first e-ink should I buy Go 10.3 or Note Air 3C? I would use it mostly for note taking, but I think it would be great if I can use colour in notes. But which has better writing feel? And which pen should I get?
Thank you so much! So great! Also, try using the flap in the lower part, so it locks the angle you want! If that part is also magnetic, it should work! Just a thought, maybe a stupid one😅
No front light. I love writing or reading in the evenings or night. Love being able to make my screen warm. Love the huge battery life. Note Air 3 all the way.
Also gotta have the Steadtler Digital Jumbo. The Air 3 pen is nice, but the Jumbo is wonderful.
It seems that Boox Go uses the exact same display as Kindle Scribe (both Carta 1200?). But I really don't like how the ink layer is far from the surface on the Scribe, and the words sometimes look quite fuzzy. Would you say the Boox Go will look much better due to having one fewer layer (of front light)?
If I want an eink to use as a textbook, notebook/workbook, what would be a good option at 500$ or less? Color is preferred if there is no ghosting, I also think that an android eink would be better because I don’t want to sell my soul to Jeff bezos once again
I love the Go. I just neeed a clear case for it now and I'll be set
This is the true successor to the ancient onyx boox note 10.3 plastic screen from 2018
Got mine. The screen is beautiful, and the note app is good. However, I'm not liking the handling of pdf planners and the lack of features in the calendar note app. So I don't think this is replacing my iPad pro 11 or my mini any time soon for note taking.
Hi there, any idea if the title feature been fixed yet... also I believe the kindle scribe pen works with this.. is there any advantage to getting one and would the eraser also work?
Thanks so much for all your efforts on these things
So can the boox big boy, or whatever their top of the line is, can it do multiple apps same time? Can I wrote notes while listening to podcast app?
i think the pen holder should stick to each otehr first. then u slide the pen insdie and you stick them on top or bot of the case
Great video as always! 😊 I like the case, I dont use the flap. Just put my lamy in my pocket like I wolud do with any other mechenical notebook and pen. It could have been real leather though.
7:59. Use your magnetic clasp as a door stop, to keep it from creeping down.
8:34. Why would you put that on top??? How's that going to help? It goes at the bottom, to create a lip that the unit can't slip past, like a door stop.
8:46. Just put it at the bottom, to block the slide forward! You're doing everything but the obvious thing!
I'd love this with a keyboard like reMarkable has.
Three missing features to make it a must buy
Fingerprint power button for security
A memory card slot, for pdfs and doodles and to avoid wear on internal storage
Removable battery (would likely make it thicker though)
Maybe a possible Note3+ is for me, although that adds a front light which could reduce some of the benefits of a new 300dpi screen version
This is why you don’t work as a product designer
Kitt, I'd like to buy it! However, I read that searching for words in handwritten notes is very slow, even if the "automatically recognize handwriting in the background" function is activated. Could it be a bug?
I’m so close to pulling the trigger on the 10.3. But I think how laggy it is world drive me nuts over time? Or just wait a couple months for Boox to come out with a updated version of the 10.3
Question for the community; which e-Ink tablet is best for converting poetry stanza's from handwritten to text without losing the format? THX
Can you listen to the audiobook WHILE you read the ebook?
I am learning Vietnamese. Is it possible to convert my written notes in Vietnamese to text and still retain all of the tone marks?
Im gonna buy this but I wish they added expandable storage and a fingerprint scanner
Just received mine purchased from Amazon Brand New first boot up it ask for password? Won't replace have to return and refund and then wait again 😢
조금만 기다려줘 고텐아!
I've decided to buy it❤
my next viewer'll be go 10!!
Amazing, wish you joy of it, please let me know how you find it!
i have the ireader x3pro and i think it's comparable if not better than the boox go 10.3, at least in terms of hardware. just wondering if you could a review on that as well.
but the bad thing about ireader is that anybody who doesn't have a chinese bank account and have access to all the geolocked applications can't really utilize the ireader products to the maximum. a huge pity. also wondering if there's a workaround for that.
The pen wobbles when attached because of the rounded edges, I tested it with other pens.
My favorite is the Kindle Scribe Premium Pen and it works great. That pen has a groove running down it on the magnet side that meshes perfectly with the round edge on the Go 10.3. I still wish it was a better magnet but it seems to stay put better than the stock pen at least. The Kindle pen also has a side button which works with Boox devices and makes the pen tip erase while pressed. Also has the eraser on the opposite end if you prefer. Pricey though...
Does anyone know how to get the keyboard changed to United States version. Even when I choose there are odd letters of some other language
Any plans to review the bigme hibreak? Thanks
I am looking for an upgrade pen/stylus and nib setup for the Go 10.3. I want something that feels like pen on paper (not pencil). Especially if it could feel like Zebra Sarasa or Sharpie S-gel pens or another kind of ballpoint pen. No screen protector. Please give me some advice, I don't really want to buy a million things to experiment with just to find something good 😭
Just bought Boox 10.3, everything is perfect but except, I cannot import PDF into notepad. This makes me so disappointed cuz it means I cannot put my pdf files at the same place with my handwritten notes :( If someone know if there is a way that I do can put all my files together please let me know, thank you!
I had a nasty wobble in one spot while note-taking the other day, because I had the flap doubled over out back (double magnets = more interference).
Yeah, it's a pain!
How much do you get for purchases through affiliate links? Its important to understand this
Sorry but what do you mean by BSR?
(Boox Super Refresh,) It's the GPU enhanced technology which means it can clear out the white space and remove ghosting. But it takes a lot of battery energy to do that compared to ordinary e-ink tech.
@@KitBetts-Masters thank you for that. I suppose it means doing manual refresh then to get rid of the ghosting instead?
My experience with their tech support has not been good. I'm in the U.S. if that matters.
@kitBetts-Masters do u know of any apps that can do conversation of audio to text for minutes ? That we can use on such device?
Hiya, I use Otter, and I find the free version is working just fine. otterai.sjv.io/c/3568835/1063514/13661? (this is an affiliate link, so I'd receive a commission if you ever upgraded to pro.)
I like that you can just speak for a while and it transcribes everything. I've talked about it a few times, I mostly use it on my phone and then all my stuff is available on my eink tablets! Great app to be honest. I've been intending to do a review of it for a while.
@KitBetts-Masters you should really discuss the apps u use on these devices. I see that you have alot of these apps. It will be interesting. I bought the boox go 10.3 on your recommendation. Love it
@@sunnytay5631 cheers! Very glad. I do have that video somewhere.... Hold on.
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/qXYTc-oRPMA/видео.htmlsi=2SE8ojvN6qUSIqEO
Probably do an update but still, I hope it's interesting. 🙂 @@sunnytay5631
@@KitBetts-Masters cool thanks!
if it just had frontlight...
Are you able to fit this tablet in any other Boox cases to see if it perhaps fits a different/better case?
Yeah, sorry, we've tried. Doesn't work. Best to look at the alternative pen loops people have been fitting to the case. 🙂
No sd card slot is a deal-breaker sadly.
No front light. I certainly don't work or read in perfect lighting conditions all the time. I stopped using my Remarkable FOR THIS REASON.
One os tgese with a lie power front light for the win....
I had this device, from software perspective is amazing, all you need it has. you don't need to pay any subscription fees to do handwriting text recognition or other stuffs, BUT the display is not legible and annoys your eye it doesn't have enough contrast. it's missing backlight. in the above video they have used plenty of light to make readable! so I returned on first day.
They are so slow I dread turning it on to use it.. dreadful devices.
Eh, non-expandable storage and no front light are both deal-breakers for me.
No replaceable battery too.
The Note Air3 b&w is better
How is it a flaw that it doesn't have a frontlight when a light increases weight, cost and battery drain. Just turn on a light!
Which is the best eink for meeting notes and straight into OneNote , assuming I'd convert all writing to text during or post meetings?
@@neilfordham4312 Hiya, I've got a couple more where in talk about one note coming really soon. But for now, I think you want one of the BSR colour devices, either note air 3 C or Tab ultra C Pro. 🙂
Problems with the Go 10..3. Nos sd card?...this is insane. Poor, buggy performance when using apps. Kindle is awful on this thing. The scribe is better. No markup or notes on kindle books. It is painfully slow. For this cost I'd be looking for upgradable storage (this thing doesn't hold my full kindle and audible library) and I'd like symmetrical bezels and a case that can be used in both orientations. What about left handed users? Oh, and no way to adjust volume for an audio book.
I'm sorry, I can't watch with the focus problems....
Man €420…
Does any one know where u can buy a new screen for a box air 2 ??
You need a better camera, mate. Your focusing tracking is awful. Really distracts from the content. Get a Sony system camera or a DJI Pocket 3.
The epitome of a pompous RUclips comment, what a bore
Looks good. 👻
I didn’t get distracted… and I’m ADD AF 😆.
I am torn apart between my love for eink devices, your extrodinary voice and annoying video focus... Could you not just set a fixed focus (on a table)? This autofocus misses the point of the video.
