Growing up in Palawan, the house I grew up in was surrounded by Jackfruits, Guava, Star Apple(kaimito), sugar apple, star fruit, Guyabano, Kamiyas, Coconut Tree, Golden Coconut tree, mangos, apple mangos, wani, chico, chesa fruit, santol, cacao... I had to go farther to find tamarind. I guess I was lucky as a kid. When I moved to Canada more than a decade ago, I was a bit disappointed at how every tree is a pine tree or a variety that doesn't bear fruits for human enjoyment. Edit: There were lots of flying foxes (bats) during night time and when there's moon in the sky, we would lay outside and watch their migration. Amazing to see them flying way up.

This is a typical Pacific Islander back yard. Somethings they don’t tell you: The Bananas only sprout once, once harvested they get cut down and regrow (usually multiple banana plants will sprout together). The Papayas and other fruit trees if not taken care off turn into a breeding ground for all sorts of fruit insects. Coconut trees will smash a car windshield instantly (seen it happen a hundred times). I was born and raised on a island and we had mango, guava, coconut, soursap, avocado etc growing around our house. It was convenient but not without its own annoyances and negatives.

Just a rule of thumb for anyone watching but hasn't tried the fruits mentioned, if the content creator compares the taste of the fruits to anything else like strawberry jam, marshmellow etc. it tastes nothing like those things. The fruit just tastes like itself and you have to try it first to know what it tastes like. The only truly accurate description to fruits would be if it's sweet, sour, tangy, bitter and so on, and if it's juicy or dry. For example, sweet and juicy or dry and sour.
