Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly test vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, you'll see! Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. This is the Volovo I'd buy (or the upcoming V60), the efficiency of a hybrid, the performance of a sport sedan and the utility of a crossover...it's a win-win-win.
I´m wondering to import one here to Brazil and be able to recharg at home without have to pay for traditional gas/fuel stations
I like these dark brown seats and interior much more than the lighter amber colored interiors. This XC60 should be a worthy competitor in the small luxury SUV market.
Finally someone who is trying everything, especially the performance ;-)

Volvo is killing it with the new XC90, XC60 & S90/V90. While I'm still skeptical of the reliability of these hybrid powertrains & twincharged engine, they certainly do work well in real life. I'm still patiently waiting for the V60 replacement however.
Is the V90 to be seen as the V70 replacer? Since its even longer?
Andor Jensma well the S90 effectively replaced the S80 sedan, so I'm going to say yes to that.

T8 is absolute beast..has to be one of the best all round cars ever made

You've got to give credit to Volvo, the design language both inside and outside of the new cars, looks amazing.
Shame about the engines, though in the XC60 this version with 4Cyl+Hybrid is alright, but using the same combination on the XC90, doesn't make sense, particularly in a high luxury SUV where you want a smooth engine, not a noisy 4Cyl engine at the front.

Yes i've driven one, which was the T6 version of the XC90.
And at medium/high revs, the engine is noisy, and i'm not the only one who says this.
At least if it was a nice sound like a inline 5 or 6 or even a V8, would be great to listen, but a "tiny" 2 liter 4 cyl, no thanks....
Volvo is looking at the future. Hybrid will be the standard soon and in the future Electric. A hybrid drive train is becoming cheaper to produce every year and gives you best of both worlds. But I agree for the xc90 it might have been a bit to early to switch over to hybrid only for the T8.
how can you like the interior? it looks so bad imo
I gave so much crap about Volvos going 4cylbut now I understand that they are more leaned to comfort than performance because we are all conditioned to believe that if a car is both "sporty" and "luxurious"' its a perfect car. I love Volvo for what its doing.
Sang Eeth that’s not true. A lot of real luxury vehicles that focuses on luxury also have the V6 engine just like the Mercedes GLE. A real luxury car needs to have a good engine lol. And a real sports engine would be engines like the V8 so it shouldn’t even be considered sporty.
I never said any Volvo was sporty even though the XC90 T8 model gives out 400hp. I haven't been in a newer Volvo but i noticed 9/10 reviewers saying how the ride comfort is so smooth and the focus is to more luxury.
It is though. It beats everything if you do make a lot of miles. The seats are so comfortable.
I used to love Audi before but after watching this review it made me turn towards Volvo especially this bad boy
I've driven the S90 T8 for around three months now and this review initially helped me make up my mind. It's great to waft along on just the electric power but even better to know you have an extra 300 or so bhp just in case you need it/you're bored. The torque generated from both engines is very impressive.

This car is close to perfect. The only thing that would make it even better is a 5 cylinder engine. I'm really, really sad Volvo gave up on them. It's such a traditional sound for Volvo that these new 4 cyl's feel out of place.

I own Volvo S60 CC 2017 with T5 and it consumes 13-14 liters per 100km in reality.
derbigpr500 That's indeed a shame it was 1 of the few brands which uses 5 cylinders for diesel and petrol. Now only Audi uses if for the RS3 but i have to say Volvo engines are really good now. Using a 2.0l 4 cylinder with turbo and supercharger for performance + an electric engine I really adore it! I would rather have a Volvo than it's opponents!

Aaaaawww, nice vid. My XC60 T8 just coming from sweden today. I got white nappa leather interior, that dark brown is actually tacky.
Favourable, honest review. UK reviews are still stuck on Diesels and still not as kind to Volvo as their German rivals. Interior colour is questionable, but I think it would grow on you!
In power mode it uses both the petrol engine and the electric engine in the back. So it basically is the same thing as AWD. But AWD does not have the heavier steering, sporty suspensions, and more responsive gas-and brake pedal. It focus more on traction and it lifts the car more, so it has more cm over the ground
Great review. When you get your longer term review car, please try to get a T8 R-Design (maybe even two - with and without air suspension). I'm really curious to see how it handles, and no reviewers really seem to be paying attention to that. I'm particularly curious to see how the stiffer, better damped R-Design leaf spring suspension compares to the air suspension in power/dynamic mode.
Lenny Raymond drove both fully loaded XC90 in T6 and T8 with and without air suspension.
I liked the T6 as it delivered the power more evenly, non air felt good for hard driving.
T8 had v rapid acceleration, air suspension felt better to absorb the imbalance between the the power of the front and rear engines.
Bought the fully loaded T8 Inscription, though not as good for hard driving as the T6, it is more refined. I also don't hard drive cars all the time as I have the kids in and speed limits.
The T8 is a very refined drive, and can burn off most other vehicles when required. But personally I just prefer oozing it down the street silently.

At 400 hp and 470 tq does this make this the most powerful 4 cylinder on the market? Or does it not count to have electric motors too even though it's part of the car just like the turbo.
All these Volvo reviews and nobody takes their time to check the true USP, the Pilot Assist and all the safety features. Who cares about max acceleration, I want a SUV, not a sports car.
The volvo proposal is Safety in first for all new cars up to 2020. Who like sports car - I'm here - can have a family car without compromise the sport expectations! It seams to be a impressive combination
If you're going for the T8, then you're definitely looking for a performance crossover.

Great video, awesome performance car, as for the size issue, to me it would be absolutely fine because I have a Volvo V70 phase 2, so I wouldn't have the same feeling of lost space as you had, you must remember the XC90 is one of the biggest bodied cars around, hence so much interior space, and to be fair, you wouldn't buy a Mini and expect to find the same amount of space as in a bigger car, it's a smaller SUV end of story, everyone knows this is the case, so to refer to this fact so many times during the vid is tantamount to saying that plain chocolate isn't as milky as milk chocolate !! lol yes we know this, the clue is in the model name :-) but keep up the vids. I enjoyed your Dad talking about the Volvo's he has had over the years :-) (XC90 video)

Nice driver POV review.wish you would have reviewed other features like autonomous driving, B&W system etc than just trying to race the car. This is not a Porsche Macan even though it is fast. That leather color is tacky as the ones in Audi’s. The Whitish interior suits this car best

That's true. "Pure" mode gives you 87 hp on the rear axle for about 40 kilometers

Love the style and quality, but having driven the XC90 T8, the only thing keeping this on my ‘consider’ list is the Bowers & Wilkins audio option. The motor is just too ‘unrefined’ for this class of car.

The sound system in this vehicle is nothing short of incredible. The sound system is, in my opinion worth the purchase of the T6/T8 alone.

The HUD comes with the advanced package. You have the option to turn it on / off.
The only problem with Volvo is long term reliability & maintenance. Would rather see how it compares to an SQ5 or Cayenne...
